September Intro Mingle Log
Welcome to Hugtopia, and to the city of Havenwell. This mingle is meant for new arrivals to get settled and meet the other inhabitants. New characters should be the only top-levels but everyone should feel free to tag around and make new friends. Who knows, you may find that Perfect Hug in here. You can use the prompts here, or create a wildcard of your own.
ICly, this takes place from the 2nd to the 16th and then we'll have a shiny new event post up for you all soon after that date range. The prompts below are optional, but are a way to get you started if you wish. To help you create your own prompts, please take a look through our Settings and FAQ. Click on each prompt's title to see the text. If you have any questions, feel free to direct them to the FAQ or to the Mod Question thread below.
❥ PROMPT I: Awakening
When you awaken, you're in the last outfit you remember wearing, three of your belongings laid nearby or your animal friend curled up by you, waking as you do. It's not the most comfortable place to sleep, a stone slab, but once you're awake, a humanoid-looking robot comes in and explains you're in Havenwell and leads you out of the room and into the main portion of the temple where a welcoming committee of similarly humanoid-looking robots hand over a clear smartphone-sized tablet, some starting funds, and explain their dilemma. Then they release you into Havenwell to pick your new home from free housing in the city and give you the chance to settle. It might be a bit disorienting, but thankfully there seem to be a lot of robots and even some non-robots around. Maybe ask them for help?
❥ PROMPT II: Buddy System

With all the changes going on, it might be hard to be a new arrival to Havenwell. The natives understand! Sort of. When some new arrivals begin to appear at the temples, receive the welcome speech, get their communicators and the simple map of the city, they get taken to the front of the temple by a helpful robotic priest. Rather than turn the newcomers loose right away, they pull someone seemingly at random off the street and push the two people together with a cheerful, "Here's your guide to Havenwell! It's dangerous to go alone, so be buddies!" before going back inside.
They try to place a new arrival with one of those who previously arrived, but who can keep track of all that, right? Characters may find themselves thrown together with an actual veteran or with another new arrival who only came here a day or even just an hour before them! Good luck helping each other out, offworlders, and don't lose your buddy!

❥ PROMPT III: Weather Wildcard

Havenwell's weather is generally so well controlled, with beautiful blue skies and temperate climes that it's hard to remember that there's a whole world out there that might not be so nice. Every so often, however, the controls break and something not so nice and temperate comes through. Pockets of unpleasant weather happens all over the city at random intervals and new arrivals might find themselves and others caught without warning. Is that a snowstorm with green snow? Sure is. A windstorm that only seems to affect three streets? Yup. Did a deluge of rain just pour the equivalent of an Olympic sized swimming pool of water on you? Uh-huh, sure did. A deep cold fog that suddenly rolls in and blankets your entire area? Yeeaaah... hopefully there's someone around to help you get about and find shelter or just dry off and get away from it all. Good luck, offworlder.
Ardyn Lucis Caelum | Final Fantasy XV
[Ardyn still wasn't too sure about this. Any of it, really--he remained undecided on if Verstael or Somnus' descendant would be worse company. But one of them had managed not to give him a headache by existing yet, so that was worth...something.]
[Still, living in his general vicinity wasn't sounding ideal...but what other option was there, if this world really functioned upon human connection? (And never mind the hangups about the 'human' part, that was something he'd barely had time to unpack.)]
Are you certain this is a good idea?
[b; though its color brightly shines; ainea's temple]
[So after that...everything, eventually things settled enough without Ardyn getting thrown out literally or metaphorically. At which point he slept for two days straight. Just because he didn't physically need to didn't seem to be stopping him, either from genuine exhaustion or just not caring to do much else.]
[But once he was awake enough to debatably function, it struck him that perhaps lingering here overmuch wasn't an ideal course of action. He'd only remained in the magitek lab because Niflheim was miles and miles of frozen nowhere to go, so there was no reason to linger where he was far less inclined to for a dozen more reasons.]
[Once he'd gotten a distance away, the questionable weather in places and a few barely-dodged thunderstorms proved enough to make him rethink his course of action. Gods above, this place was a nightmare in its own way and he'd only been here less than a week. Why was he even here to begin with? Did it have to do with the fact that Verstael had come before him, or his brother's descendant and the Crownsguard soldiers? Even if this was all a result of the world's gods enlisting help, Ardyn couldn't bring himself to believe any divine force would want his assistance in anything. Not the way he was now.]
[It was that line of thought which brought him to Ainea's temple. Obviously the gods wouldn't answer someone who wasn't an Oracle, and would be inclined to listen to Adagium even less. Even so...where else could he possibly have sought answers? The temple was quiet and peaceful--in fact, it was the closest thing to familiarity Ardyn had yet seen since leaving Angelgard. So with no other options he clasped his hands and turned his thoughts inward: Forgive me my ignorance of this realm's customary offerings. But I fear you've made a mistake.]
[c; can never see its purpose in the pattern of the grand design; wildcard]
[if you've got something else, go for it, i'm flexible]
a;
Not hardly but it's better than the alternative.
[They do have an extra room, after all.]

c; because we need roommate shenanigans
Now, though, he's not so sure, because their home has gained another. It's difficult, to reconcile the Ardyn he met before in the city and the Ardyn he knew from back home. It's difficult to forget the things he has done - will do.
Still, there's no reason to be hostile. So, as morning comes, he makes his way to the kitchen and starts preparing enough food for all of them - even though he's not sure Ardyn can eat.]

The footsteps come to a halt when he notices Ardyn silent and bent in prayer. Hmm.
It would be impolite to intentionally interrupt. Instead, he drops to a seat in a nearby pew, the rustle of his garments breaking the temple's silence enough to draw attention but still skirting that line of actually interrupting or being rude. Just enough that - unless the other man is in truly deep contemplation - he'll be aware that he has company.
And there, with his elbows resting on his knees as he leans forward, Emet-Selch waits so very patiently.]

So when she reaches the end of the Darkest path in her vicinity, even though it feels... off — harder to pin down, not quite as strong, and not quite as familiar — Era is still surprised to find that the source of it is someone decidedly not her kind and condescending enemy.
She furrows her brows at him, confused, concerned, and curious. A quick glance toward the ground tells her in no uncertain terms that he is no Ascian, and thus...
...She honestly at a bit of a loss here, just squinting at him as though he is something particularly peculiar, forgetting that she should probably say something right up until the weasel around her neck silently reminds her of basic propriety. ]
Ah— Hello. [ a pause. ] Are you... well?

Vianca | Pikmin | OTA [OHMA]
The initial wake-up call hadn’t gone smoothly. The last thing Vianca had remembered was the rumbling of the earth below her, and the chaos that was her precious library walls crashing down around her. There had been darkness, and the thunderous noise had drowned everything out until it warped itself into silence. She was left with the pain and then, nothing. This time her time had run out.
Vianca was 1000% certain that she had died.
It took a long time for them to get her to uncurl out of the tight little ball she had been in, but once she did... well! Being surrounded by robots was fairly normal for her. Being ushered into a vast city she’d never seen before was not. Being shoved into an interaction with someone new was.... also normal, actually.
Congratulations on your four-foot-tall travel buddy, buddy. Vianca peered up at them, map and tablet clutched a little desperately to her chest, and gave the slightest nod. After a moment, she held out her hand.
DO YOU TAKE THE SMALL GIRL’S HAND? Y / N
II ✿ Settling Down
To the south was Ohma's temple. Whether it was really her choice or not, Vianca quickly found that this place felt just right. The blue and gold was just similar enough to blue and bronze that it felt a little funny. It was a little like being sorted, wasn't it? Sure, Ohma was more into cats than birds, but hey.
You can find her exploring the temple from time to time, a speck of pink poking around all the blue and gold.
III ✿ Geeeeeet Dunked On
At one point, it had been nice and clear. The sun was out! It was a lovely time to sit on a cafe chair and enjoy the light fall breeze.
But then. The Breeze. Became more of a wind?
Gosh, this was a lot of wind. A lot of wind.
G-golly, her chair sure was. Sliding. Away from the cafe. Oh no.
IV ✿ Wild Card
Have something else in mind? Do you want a small child in your house? Follow your dreams!! Her CR meme is here if you desire. I will also follow whatever tagging format you wish!

I. [Y], because [N] is a greyed-out option and he can't click it.
He'd met Pearl Fey a couple of times, and Pearl was about this girl's age, right? "Hello," he said awkwardly to the pink-haired child before him. He'd essentially been a small adult when he was her age. So had Franziska. He just hoped that he wouldn't mess this up.
How dare you even look at that option, Edgeworth

Miles Edgeworth | Ace Attorney | OTA [DIACHT]
Edgeworth was really having just. The worst week. He'd been involved in a murder on an airplane (and passed out due to his damnable panic attack), been kidnapped and hit in the head with a sword, found a corpse in his office (and had a gun pulled on him in said office), and stayed up all night solving a double-murder-slash-international-incident linked to a case from ten years ago, because of course it always came back to something from the past.
Also, he'd been accused of murder. Again. But that was getting to be old hat.
And all of a sudden, he's here in this - this Havenwell place? Being shoved around by robots and told that he has to engage in physical contact to save the world?
H a h a h a . Absolutely not.
The prosecutor is standing out of the way, looking at the map he's been given, and frowning. Aggressively. More so than the way his face just generally is.
II. Buddy System - I'm gonna buy some sweat pants and a Nicholas Sparks novel. Might as well lean into it.
Oh, cool! Now he has a buddy.
That's sarcasm, by the way. He's not excited about this.
But he's not inclined to be rude about it, so he looks at the person he's been shoved at. He doesn't smile, because if he tries to smile when he's not sincere about it he's been told that he looks scary. And it wouldn't do to start off on the wrong foot with this person he doesn't know, would it?
So instead, he holds his hand out to shake. "Miles Edgeworth," he says, businesslike. Does shaking hands count for this...thing? Does he care?
III. Weather Wildcard - I don't want to be overdramatic, but today felt like a hundred years in hell and the absolute worst day of my life.
Edgeworth doesn't recall ever hearing the phrase 'if you don't like the weather, wait five minutes' in LA, because, well, the weather in southern California is generally uniform enough. Much like it is here, which is part of why he doesn't hate absolutely everything.
And then a blizzard suddenly happens directly on top of his head, and he revises his opinion to actually, no, hating everything. Also, why is the snow green? He's used to snow, having grown up in Germany, but not when it's green.
The snow lasts for about a city block, and when he stumbles back into the sunshine, he brushes his wine-colored suit off. The green snow is melting in his hair, but you can't have everything. It's more important to keep the suit from getting stained, after all. He hasn't seen a dry cleaner here yet.
IV. Wildcard - I've seen over 200 episodes of Law and Order, and it's paying off big time.
[Got any ideas? Hit me up at
II
At least Akira doesn't much mind playing tour guide for the newcomers. He's not necessarily excited, mind, but it's something to do. He accepts the handshake with a nod, with a firm grip. "Akira Kurusu. I know the place pretty well by now since I was one of the first group to show up, so there's that at least..."

Noctis Lucis Caelum | FFXV | OTA
[He can't say that he's settled, exactly, but he's gotten the run down enough that Noctis is comfortable exploring the city at his own pace. It's still very new, of course, so he's pretty much getting himself lost, but people here are accomodating enough that he's not concerned about being unable to find his way back.
It also means he's not surprised if a newcomer is suddenly guided towards him and left into his care; instead he sighs at the retreating back of the robot.]
They're still doing that...? Sorry, I probably don't know that much more than you do.
( iii: weather shenanigans )
[The rain wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't cold, but with autumn on the way there's a subtle enough chill in the air that getting suddenly dumped on isn't great. After he escapes the abrupt deluge, Noctis is hiding away under a local awning, wringing water out of his jacket and cradling a little ball of magic flame in his palm to try and warm up- or maybe just to dry his ruined hairstyle. Either way, it's warmer here than it is out there.
Want to share the heat?]
( iv: locked to prompto )
[continued from here.]
( v: wildcard )
[got any other ideas? hit me! Noctis will be out and about wandering and is free to bother. Continuations of his TDM threads also welcome if you want, and prompts from there are still good to use!
FYI: at times (and in all prompts, potentially) he may also be accompanied by a very well-behaved black dog. Ask for some paw!]
iii
[But he did eventually register the faint aura of heat and glow of fire, looking to Noctis and visibly faltering to speak for a moment (internally, a record scratched and Ardyn corrected himself on the name he was about to speak).]
...Surprising that we would meet again so soon, in a city of such an unprecedented size.

Nagi Rokuya | IDOLiSH7
[A lot of this, Nagi can take in stride. He can rationalize in his own mind why he would have been brought somewhere like this and how he is supposed to help these people. But there's one thing that is just boggling him right now.]
Oh, JESUS, that can't be right!!
[He is very loud, in a hallway of the free housing, and gesturing wildly towards the "housing" he has been checking out. Obviously, the robot in front of him just told him something very shocking and awful.]
No, no, no! I can't use just one room! I'll need the whole suite. I'm sure that should be fine!
[Oh dear.]
(2) Buddies
[Being very new himself, Nagi is more than happy to be paired up with someone who might be able to help him get better acquainted with the area. He beams at whoever he's just been shoved with.]
Hello! My name is Nagi! It's a pleasure to meet you! ...OH!
[With a start, he remembers that the whole reason he's here is to give positive physical affection back to the world! So without any hesitation, he will grab his partner's hand, lacing their fingers together and smiling brightly.]
There! That's better!

Tamaki Yotsuba | IDOLiSH7 [DIACHT]
Newcomers and veterans teaming up to get to know the area better! What could be better? Nothing against the robotic residents of Havenwell, but it's a little easier to get a read off some of the other off-worlders, and Tamaki's pretty grateful for that.
However, it still seems like their match-making skills could use some honing, as Tamaki doesn't really know his way around well enough to be an effective guide, but has, by now, gotten a cursory idea of where everything is. A bad tour-guide, and a less-than-stellar candidate for being guided around. Still, that doesn't exclude him from being part of this buddy system, and eventually ending up foisted off on to some random person.
"Ah, hmm, hey." He isn't about to fight the random assignments as they come, however. It could be? Useful? Fun? The only way to find out is to go all-in. "Where should we go first?"
III. Wild Weather
Okay! This is a really unexpected kind of weird! Inclement weather isn't too strange on its own, and even the isolated nature of it all isn't, like, completely bizarre.
Still, that doesn't leave him prepared at all for a sudden, incredibly dense fog to pour through his immediate surroundings.
"H-hey! What the heck?" Thick enough to disorient him completely, for sure. He's still getting his bearings in the city, and turning around once with his visibility hindered so badly? He's pretty much immediately Lost. "Is... is anyone around?"
h e l p
W. Wild Card!
[Got something else in mind? hmu over at
> Vianca
That sounds... so lonesome.
"Do you like being alone...?" Maybe she's that kind of person? It doesn't really settle right with him, but if that's how she feels about it, it isn't like he'd be able to argue. Better to ask than just guess at it, at any rate.

Ciel Phantomhive | Kuroshitsuji/CRAU
[It feels odd, arriving in a new world alone. His first instinct it to look around for his companion and instead meeting a robot while he gathers up two handmade Bitter Rabbits. He's sixteen and unwilling to give up the little plushes, scowling and following along behind the priest.
It isn't that their plight doesn't move him, but this is the third time he's been drawn away from a world. While they've all been better than what probably awaits him in England, it doesn't keep it from becoming bothersome.
There's a muttered "Thank you." when he's given the tablet and money but once he's left on his own, he has a quest in mind that isn't cuddling. And that is (mostly) finding a good cup of tea.]
II. let's be buddies (or not)
[Maybe before he can make his escape from the Rawna priests and go off on his own, you find yourself being tugged over to the teenager. Ciel, almost immediately, flushes and looks a bit frustrated.]
That's hardly necessary. I'm fine on my own, I assure you!
[But they don't seem like they're going to be dissuaded from seeing the pair off.]

Lillie | Pokemon Sun/Moon (Games) | CRAU: LifeAftr
[Lillie is getting used to waking up where she doesn't belong - such is the islands' way and such is Mu's whims. But there's a feeling of permanence this time that leaves her somewhat unsettled. Unlike previous visits to the dream-island, she feels very much awake, and the people here seem very real. And it only really starts to sink in that she's truly gone somewhere else when she's shuffled off out into the streets, clutching her (empty, unfortunately) bag and new tablet, with Nebby trailing behind her.
Maybe the robots here have forgotten what it's like to see an actual, literal child standing in the street looking lost and confused, but if you haven't, consider lending this one a hand.]
ii. homesick prayers
[Eventually, after a day or two of settling in, Lillie makes her way to the temple in the East. She's been told that Ainea rules over things like compassion and kindess, empathy and companionship. It's a little bit of a stretch, but. She's hoping the emphasis on bonds means that Ainea can guide her to new friends and found family, then. Or at least give her the strength she needs to find them herself. As brutal and unforgiving as the islands could be, she had Guzma and Ren and sometimes Luna. Without them, she feels thoroughly lost.
On the islands, deities communicated directly with the people in their charge. She can only hope this one will, too, as she steps inside the flower-studded halls. Nebby is quiet with reverence as she carries it to an empty section of the temple and sits down to try and speak with the temple's deity. She keeps her voice to a whisper, but it's not impossible to overhear if you're passing by.]
Ainea? My name is Lillie. Um...I know I'm very new, and that you must be busy with others, but I was hoping that...that you could help me.

Misa arrives
These droids are not very helpful. While she is sympathetic to their plight - a dying world is not nothing - she does not seem to be able to make them understand that Jocko would be looking for her, and Freema would be worried! She doesn't want anyone else to get beat because of her. She'd learned her lesson.
Seeing other beings in the temple or wherever they have brought her. Misa shrinks back. She's dressed in a floor length white dress that is far too old for her. It hints at the curves to come, and the beauty that she will be when she grows up. The make up she wears is also far too old for her. But she wears it like she's used to it. She double checks that her vibroknives are within hand's reach and steps into the crowd, her head held high. Someone will get her back to the Mistress and Jock and Freema.
"Excuse me, I am sorry to bother you, but these droids are not at all helpful."
II. The Buddy System
"I beg your pardon, but I do not need -"
She stops talking when the "priest" shoves her at another being. Apparently, she's made a nuisance of herself. These droids need wiped, and reprogrammed! And she's not shy about saying that either.
"I hope someone reprograms you!" She says, stomping her heel. She looks up at her new "buddy". Then, she curtsies, just as she'd been told. "I am sorry for my behavior, but these droids have not been properly serviced it seems. It's unusual for them to be so high handed."
III. Wildcard
Hit me.
I. someone sent up the Dad Signal and he has arrived
Someone tries to get his attention, and he turns. It's a girl - although he'd be forgiven for thinking otherwise, because she looks a little like a child playing dress-up in her mother's clothes. Franziska had looked a little like that, when she'd been picking out prosecutorial outfits. She'd never worn the makeup like that, though.
Obnoxiously, although he just saw his sister a few days ago, he finds himself missing her.
"It's not a bother at all, miss," he says. "What's the problem?" So many children here...did any of these fools try and consider who they were bringing to save their world?
Da na na na na Dad man!

Shouto Todoroki | My Hero Academia (CRAU) | Diacht
[It doesn't take all that much for Todoroki to realize that he's no longer in Empatheias. Sure, the presence of the robots is new and different, but more so were two glaringly obvious things:
2) The lack of a blue and black beaded bracelet around his wrist— or, more accurately, his crystal. An absolutely crucial possession which everyone wore, lest they be drained of their emotions and essentially die.
Yet there were also the familiar parts, not simply being his memories of the other world.
Maybe he'll stand out, or maybe not. He did wind up in his hero costume, but it'll likely be because of hiis hair. More so are the few additions. A very oddly colored cat is perched on his left shoulder, while another, much smaller cat is cradled in his left arm. There's also what appears to be a very faintly glowing black & purple short-sword strapped to his back. ]
II ☀ That "Making Friends" thing;
[ While no stranger to intentionally utilizing and focusing on his emotions in order to affect something (the environment, even another person's emotions, etc), actual physical contact wasn't really a part of that. Well, mostly not. He seems to be willing and cognizant enough, though.]
Should we hold hands, then? Or maybe link arms. . .
[ Yes, his cats are still present on his person. Don't mind how his right hand is on the colder side. ]
III ☀ Weather Or Not
[ Todoroki hardly seems fazed by the increasingly dense fog that has, very abruptly, blanketed the area. With his left hand lifted and engulfed with sizable flames, he'll glance back to whoever may also be stalled. ]
Stick close to me. I'll get us through this.
IV ☀ WILD CARD
[ Feel free to come at me with whatever! My CR comment is here and I can be reached via PP at
I: #priorities
Umbra's trotting along at his side, sometimes ahead and sometimes a little behind, but ever-watchful, and at the sight of Todoroki, he barks at a distance to alert Noctis. His interest is immediately piqued as the distance closes between, not so much for the odd costume or hair, or that sword, but rather...]
Are those your cats?
[An odd question in any other situation, considering he's carrying them, but not so much in this place.]

Momo Yaoyorozu | My Hero Academia + CRAU | Ohma
I. wandering about
[Why do these things keep happening without proper warning?!Nevertheless, Momo approaches the situation with as much sensibility she can muster. There's no use grumbling about it, anyway. The best course of action is to remain calm and adapt.
First, seeing as she arrived with a rather bulky dictionary (it's... important, okay), several tin cans of tea leaves, and one (1) small white bunny, it's become apparent early on that she can't be wandering around efficiently carrying all that in her arms. Seems like her Creation ability will be needed right away...
Exiting the temple, she now has a slingbag with a bunny in it, comfortable yet peering out of it in curiousity. The rest of her items are stuffed in a backpack. All in all, she probably looks like a highschooler on a school trip. She's rather occupied checking out something on her communicator while walking when she bumps into you. Though rather than an apology, the first words to tumble out of her mouth is a very surprised, if grateful, observation.]
Oh, you're not a robot! [A pause as she tilts her head.] I think...?
II. let's get along well
[Being paired with someone seems quite logical, Momo thinks. Two brains are better than one and all that. Hence, she won't be raising any complaints on that matter. That being said, she regards her new partner (or, well, buddy) with a bow, hands clasped in front of her. Clangs of tin cans can be heard from her backpack as she does so, and she still has that slingbag with a bunny in it. Uh. All these weird paraphernalia on her aside, at least she seems polite?]I've recently just arrived here. I'm sorry that you'd have to be paired with someone new, but I'll do my best to not be too much of a bother!
III. weather troubles
[Truly, if it's just her then Momo wouldn't have been bothered too much by the tempestuous weather. But she has an actual live animal in her person and her dictionary! She shudders to think what she'd do if the pages get wet and destroyed...She manages, though. Mostly. After going through a couple of weather cycles, she finally ends up in an area with stable (hopefully?) weather in it. Tight-lipped and patience wearing thin. Momo brushes off snow from her—thoroughly disheveled by now, she's sure of it—hair.]
There must be a limit to how many types of weather one place can contain...

Crystal Exarch | Final Fantasy 14 (spoilers for ShB!)
[He remembers little after staring up at the portal that sent the Warrior of Darkness home, only a powerful longing for sleep that shouldn't have been there overtaking him faster than he could even begin to wonder and worry. The world before his eyes shifted to the high dome ceiling of the Ocular, then to blackness, then to... here.]
[To these strange metal people. To this hard, cold altar he had been laid upon. To Havenwell, and to their crisis.]
[While not entirely unfamiliar with technology, his communication device is strange, as it should be, but he keeps it with him as he wanders from the temple itself to get a better look at where he will be now for... however long. He has concerns, many of them, the first of which he addresses in a gesture that has become almost automatic over the years. He lifts his hands to reach for the cowl of his robes and settles the garment where it has been over his head for nearly a century before setting out properly and searching for one of the city's non-robotic denizens. He understands maps well and how to read them, but it's in his nature to reach out anyway.]
Excuse me. Might I bother you for directions to the residential housing?
b: buddy system
[This isn't the first time he has had to start out fresh in a world wholly foreign to him with little more than the clothing upon his back. At least this time, he has a starting point, but worryingly the Crystal Tower is nowhere to be found, and he is keeping a careful watch on himself as he goes, waiting for the inevitable.]
[In that mind, he doesn't want to be alone. These people are perfect strangers to him, but if he should collapse, even if nothing can be done, there might still be a chance that they can send him home, might there? Would there be any way for him to return to the First at all? He has no idea. All he really knows is that this is where he will be for now, and he will have to deal with that and whatever should come, when it does.]
c: weather wildcard

Well, it probably looks good. The man who also winds up occupying it might make the Exarch inclined to try the rain again, however.]
Well, well. Always good to see a familiar face - as much of it as you ever show, anyway.
[Even though the gears whirring in his mind are almost audible, Emet-Selch looks convincingly unconcerned, leaning back and crossing his arms to look out into the rain.]
No hard feelings, I hope?
[He's well aware of how ridiculous the question is, but sometimes the only way you succeed is by attempting ridiculous things.]

Undertaker | Kuroshitsuji
[Oh, here we go again, he thinks as he comes to and starts to realize he isn't where he was when he fell asleep last. In the next instant, even before he notes the robotic figure approaching him with this world's story, he's sat up and looking about him for someone.]
[Someone who isn't there. There's a moment of brief fear, met only internally, before he turns to the... metal person and lets it give him the spiel. He's a little more used to this by now than he would like to be, but he's getting tired of it. He really is. Three worlds in as many years, he thinks it is, and he'd like to just settle down and be done with the search, done with the separation, done with the... all of it, really.]
[But he'll follow it along and observe and accept what he needs. He can fight this all he wants, but he's here now, and he needs to know as much as he can.]
b: buddy system
[He would have to meet others in this world to get around. It's the same everywhere he goes, from Riverview to the Fleet, and even from home back in England. This feels more like the Fleet to him, with the technology around, and he can't help but be a little grateful for the augmentations given to him there. He'd been lost within the Quarantine with everything decades and centuries ahead of his own world's technology and him struggling to catch up, but this world isn't nearly as mysterious to him.]
[Not anymore. Through it, he hasn't lost himself, and he'll offer the person nudged at him a grin as they're made to meet up and help each other around.]
Well, hello. A pleasure, isn't it?

Weather wildcard!!
So when the sky opened up to release a frigid rain, it was all he could do to dive for cover with a bit of a yelp, wrapping his arms around himself as he broke out in goosebumps and his hair stuck to his face. He’s cold and alone and miserable, so he just tries to make quick runs from cover to cover, not watching who or what he passes as he goes and only stopping when he realizes that his next potential bit of cover is too far away to avoid getting further soaked.
So he stops. And grumbles a bit.]

Emet-Selch | FFXIV
[Wild lightning storms? Localized tornadoes? That surely does sound like a world on the edge of destruction to him. Why, next thing you know, the seas will be boiling!
It's all in all not a great scenario. Oh well, always work to be done.
Somewhere down the line, he picks up a pad of paper, a pen, and a rough map to serve as a starting point. And then from there, it's off to investigate, gather data, draw some of his own conclusions. Literally, considering the neat scribbles that go onto the map that occupies the open page of the sketchbook, as he notes down the locations and types of storms.
Actually having to carry things is so tedious. Even more when you have to keep them out of the rain.]
IIIa. Not built in a day
[And when the storming is clear, for a moment, it's notes about the city's architecture that fill the pad. It's an experience he hasn't had in... Nearly ever, to analyze architecture and society that is completely without his touch, and he's going to enjoy it, for some value of enjoyment.]
A perfect world in which men live forever, only needing to create, until it suddenly teeters on the edge of destruction...
[He muses out loud to himself, and then sighs heavily. For familiarity sours his enjoyment, filling it with ghosts.]
And so do they turn to the gods for guidance. That's a story I've heard before.
[He can spare a little aid, to see that it goes better than his own. But what a method...]
Absolutely feral card

mystery surprise
She pretends to listen. Pretends that she's okay. Plasters on her Warrior's mask and nods in what seem to be the correct places, eager to leave and find a private place she can allow herself to fall apart.
The gist of it is all she knows, and all she needs to know. Another world that has stolen her away. She already has the fate of seven worlds upon her shoulders — that is more than enough. Era doesn't need another added to that number, and this world doesn't need someone like her. She's... She is...
She doesn't remember, her mind failing to complete the thought she had begun. Her breath catches and she shoves it aside, convincing herself it was unimportant. It doesn't matter. It doesn't.
She is a weapon. She's a weapon, and a...
Her mind flounders again, and again her panic flares. Era does her best to stamp it out. Tries to regain her train of thought —
What they need of me is something I cannot give.
When she finally finds a small, empty alleyway she quickly pulls out her little whistle and blows. The faint chirps of a weasel swirl on the wind and eventually so does a flash of light; warm and comforting. It solidifies shortly thereafter, forming into a small white weasel. It lands in front of her gracefully, an ethereal glow surrounding it.
It limps forward, and Era bends down to pick it up rather than force her wounded dream guide to jump. Immediately a great deal of tension leaves her. It is soft, and solid, and is a balm to what feels like a gaping wound within her. She holds it close, burrowing her face into its fur as she presses her back against the alley's wall and slides down until she's sitting, knees to her chest.
Never before has Era felt tears burn her eyes quite like this. Never before has she felt sobs gripping her chest like a vice. Never before has she truly cried.
It is a waste of precious time, and something weapons have no need of. Something heroes should not indulge in. And yet this Warrior of Light cannot help the way her shoulders shake with gasping, silent cries. How her poor, dear little Ardbert's fur grows slick with tears and mucous.
There is something missing and she doesn't know what it is.

Jinghuan Xiao | Nirvana in Fire
You might find him standing off to the side somewhere, examining the tablet in his hands and looking utterly bewildered. Care to help him make sense of all this?
ii. He is less than pleased about having one of the strange metal people suddenly decide to push him, and it's written plainly on his face as he glares back at them for a moment before turning toward whoever they've just shoved him toward. At least he can see the value in having someone to show him around, so he tries to shove his frustration aside, not entirely successfully.
"Have you been here long?"
iii. One of the first things Jinghuan wants to do once he's at least a little bit oriented is find something better to wear than what he arrived with. But so far, browsing the available shops hasn't turned up much in the way of actual clothing. Of course, he hasn't seen anything like that on the strange metal creatures that inhabit this place, and many of the others who were brought here like him wear things that are foreign to him.
As he's contemplating the clothing situation, a sudden rainstorm starts along with a gust of wind strong enough that all he can do is stagger into the nearest wall. The wind dies down after a moment, but the rain doesn't, and by the time he finds cover, he's soaking wet, very uncomfortable, and very fed up with this entire situation.
He leans against the wall under an awning, muttering under his breath (but perhaps just loud enough for someone to make out, especially if the sky chooses that moment to magically clear), "It may have been better if I had died." He doesn't truly mean that, of course, but to his mind, he certainly has found himself in a strange sort of hell.
[ooc: I'm not picky about format, so I'll match whatever you go with.]
Re: Jinghuan Xiao | Nirvana in Fire
Better if he had died? A rainstorm isn't that bad, is it? Or had he been in some kind of life and death struggle in his world? Had one of the gods here chosen to save him, and plucked him right from death's doorstep? Either way, it really sounds like he could use a friend right now. And something to dry off with, that would probably help, too.
Will puts on his warmest smile as he approaches, lifting his free hand to wave. If Jinghuan is willing to get real cozy real fast, they can probably squeeze both of them together under the umbrella, and escape to somewhere more comfortable..... But he should probably at least take the time to introduce himself before suggesting it. "Hi there! Need a towel?"
