November (Malom) Event Log
The chaos of Lasohm's invasion is still fresh in the mind, but it's over. The ugly scar of the hole in Havenwell's wall is a jarring reminder that this world is dying and nothing goes quietly into that dark night. The phantom is gone as Malom overtakes Lasohm, the weather turning colder and chillier with each passing day. Still, the city of Havenwell has all of you offworlders to thank for its survival, and the fearful citizens make sure you know just how much they appreciate you by stopping you on the street to say their thanks. Your new home still needs your help to recover from their ordeal though, so will you lend them your strength once more?

❥ PROMPT I: Rebuilding Effort

The magic barrier over the hole that unknown monster punched through Havenwell's wall is repaired, stopping the onslaught and encouraging any other nightmares that lurk outside to move on and away, but the hole itself remains. Throughout the month of Malom, robot natives are working tirelessly to gather bricks and stone and patch the breach, but they could use some help. Work together with other offworlders and natives alike to repair the wall and be rewarded with a handsome bump to the Dora in your bank account. They need all sorts of help, from clearing away the dead bodies of the spider-like creatures for cremation, to retrieving and hauling stone for the wall, to actually slotting the heavy blocks into place to cement them back together.

Outside the barrier, now clearly visible through the hole, a storm rages on, obscuring the view of the world beyond it. Gray and black clouds whip against the invisible barrier, and occasional debris slams into it, causing the impact site to light up with silver, pink, blue, or white hues before it fades away again. It seems even without monsters, the world outside is as inhospitable as was rumored.

Work together or take a break along the base of the wall and get to know your fellow offworlders a little better. It's going to take a while before this mess is cleaned up.

❥ PROMPT II: Air Sickness

Those who worked at or were near the breach in the wall for any extended period of time will notice that, over time, it gets harder to breathe. Then they begin to feel feverish, even if they don't have flesh bodies or are immune to disease. Their bodies ache and groan and it gets harder to move about without help. Once the natives notice, they set up a recovery area away from where the breach occurred: a giant tent with cots and pillows, thick rugs and blankets to keep the chill away. Unfortunately, they don't have medicines available to treat flesh bodied people, so they're at a loss of what to do otherwise. The priests gather anyone who is ill and brings them here...which is when a curious thing occurs.

While conventional medicines and healing spells seem to have no effect on the illness, staying in contact with another person alleviates the symptoms. After a period of contact with another person or persons, the fever breaks and it's like you were never sick at all.

Return to the wall, however, and you'll notice your symptoms coming back with a vengeance after a few days. It seems that making regular trips between the wall and this recovery tent is the only way to keep working. At least it's an easy fix so long as you're not a germaphobe.

❥ PROMPT III: A Tasty(?) Reward

Toward the end of the month as the hole in the wall is completely repaired and the risk of illness declines, a message is sent to all the offworlders' communication devices. Those who choose to open it will find a very official looking message from The Havenwell Council that reads:

Greetings, Saviours of Havenwell!
We of the Havenwell Council greet you and wish to express our eternal gratitude for your valiant efforts to keep our wonderful home safe. Without you, we would not have survived this terrible onslaught. As such, we wish to express our gratitude in a more concrete form. Your emissary, Magolor, has been in contact with this venerable Council and has brought to our attention that your greatest concern is for the food available. We apologize that due to our inability to taste we have been unable to supply you with satisfactory meals.

To that end, we invite you to work with our scientists to improve upon the taste of currently available offerings from our replicators. Please come to the Northern Research Tower (map included) at any time this month to sample what our replicators can produce and give us feedback on their flavour and textures. We ask that you be as specific as possible in your criticisms so we may improve upon your general quality of life. Please feel free to bring as many friends as you wish.

Havenwell Council, Community Liaisons

Those who take the invitation will arrive at the Northern Research Tower and be taken directly to the 40th floor, where a large banquet hall has been laid out. Five rectangular tables, over 5 meters long each, stretch down the room, creating aisles for people to walk down. At the far end are several high round tables, covered in white cloth, and high round stools for those who wish them. The tables are overflowing with food, much like the welcome dinner, but at each table and scattered throughout the room are scientist robots with arm bands that read "Experiment 73" in that peculiar Aellyn script you saw during your time at the Archives. They invite you to taste the foods - both raw and cooked - and to give your very honest opinions.

Enjoy the food, help them improve the flavours, and walk the room to talk with the others who have come. Those who participate will receive a small synthetic fruit basket to take home with them on their first visit. Feel free to come back as often as you like, however! Each time, they'll be changing and adjusting the food available so your first and last visit may be very different. Perhaps that strawberry actually even tastes sweet, finally.

❥ PROMPT IV: A Virtual Spa

The VR cafes are uncharacteristically quiet while the rebuilding effort goes on, but there are still those who come to plug in to unwind after a day of intensive labor. And what better way to unwind than with a hot bath, right? Since the people of Havenwell can't actually submerge themselves in water, they're doing the next best thing: going to a virtual hot spring. There are several types to choose from and despite being digital, their calming and soothing effects on the body seem very real. Choose from:

• The Classic Outdoors: a rock lined hot spring with natural rock floors and steamy mineral infused waters nestled in the mountains. All around you is beautiful greenery like a sweeping pine and low fragrant bushes. The serene air and the calm forest is only occasionally broken by the sound of a wooden pipe thudding hollowly against a rock at a steady interval or the sound of birdsong off in the trees. The relaxing atmosphere is enough to set even the tightest wound nerves at ease.
  
  
• The Marbled Columns: white and painted marble columns lead to a series of different shaped baths with statues of the gods pouring water into them. Each bath has a different healing property, which is clearly marked with a plaque at the rim of each: good for your circulation, your bones, your aches and pains, even acne and metabolic rate. The columns support a beautiful open ceiling that shows the perfectly blue sky overhead dotted with the occasional cloud.
  
  
• The Steamy Sauna: though seemingly austere in their white tile and deep blue bath basins, the air here is thick and steamy and the baths are deep with hand-rails leading down steps to help you enter. All around the basins are stone or wooden benches with towels laid down for those who wish to simply sit and let the warm air open their lungs. If you get too hot? Grab a bucketful of cold water from one of the freestanding tubs and douse yourself to get a shock and cool off.
  
  
• The Milk-and-Honey: a beautifully tiled bath with a large shallow rectangular basin. The surrounding walls and ceilings have blue, white, and gold geometric designs laid out with loving care in pleasant designs that ease the mind. The bath water here is filled with a concoction of milk and honey to soothe and smooth the skin, filling the air with a pleasing sweet scent. The effects of these baths on a person's skin is said to make them glow from the inside out for at least a day after bathing.
  
  
• The Theme Park: the first thing to greet you is the comically oversized bottle of red wine tipped to pour a continuous stream of red liquid into the large crystalline bath basin. The smell of wine is heavy but pleasant in the air and the crystalline basin is round and shaped like a wine glass. Climb up the glass steps and give yourself a good old soak in the red water. You might even find that taking a dip here gives you a heady happiness that lasts all day. And if it feels like you're a little drunk while there? That has to be your imagination! ...Maybe.

Hot springs are great to experience with friends to deepen that feeling of skinship you have with each other, and several Havenwell natives are doing just that. But what about those who don't have a friend to log in with? Don't worry! The game will randomly select another player from this or another facility and match you together. Isn't that nice? We're sure it is! Who doesn't want to talk to someone else while naked, right?

I: rest in pulsar

[Dora reward, you say? Like he'd be anywhere else! Besides, this is a good opportunity to get a good look outside that wall at his leisure. But does he look like the kind of guy here to lay bricks? Magolor leaves the heavy lifting to his larger comrades. He's here for the much easier work of dealing with all those monster corpses!

We all have our skills.

Catch him approaching a nasty pile of bodies, floating up next to it, lifting his hands—and suddenly a rip into some other dimension just appears between his palms like it ain't no thing. A black void studded with stars and galaxies. With a howling whoosh! the spider bodies just get sucked up into that black hole like it's a (Kirby) vacuum. They fling out into the nothingness of the stars beyond . . .

The hole closes up like nothing happened. No trace of that pile left! Weirdly, only the spiders were affected by the suction. How does that even work? Don't question it.

Magolor dusts his hands off with a giggle:]

Er . . . you don't think they needed those for anything, do you? I'd rather not consider that too deeply!


II: the cure for what ails you

[Ah, so this is the illness he's already heard about from Honerva. Here he thought he'd be safe once the barrier was back up—though he was there when it was down, too, wasn't he? This is what you get why you throw your lot in to help out! You get aches and fever and chills!

It doesn't take long for the obvious solution to spread. Of course contact cures it. Who didn't expect that by now? Well, Magolor isn't shy about 1. contact, 2. letting everyone know when he's suffering, or 3. basically anything else. It literally doesn't matter who you are: if you're in the tent with him while he's resting up there, he's just going to weakly weave over to your cot like a fat drunken bumblebee and crawl into it with you, shivering.]

Scoot over and get ready for companyyyyyyy . . .

[He would normally have said that much more energetically, but, you know. He sounds as exhausted as he looks and feels.]


III: not all heroes wear capes (but this one does)

[That's right Offworlders, who's this month's real MVP? Don't answer that. As far as Magolor is concerned, the natives have already answered it for us all, and he will hear no argument.

Of course he's attending these experimental food tastings every day he can reasonably manage. What's not to like (other than that really off-tasting pineapple upside down cake over there)? Food he doesn't have to spend his Dora on, attention, progress! Now that he's recovered fully from any illness and is (not at all) officially your emissary! he could not be in a better mood.

Rather than spend all his time stuffing his face, he may as well get both some use and some more good PR out of this situation. You might find your meal interrupted by a hype little cloaked egg carrying his tablet in his hands spinning up to you with a wave:]

Hellooooo! It's me, Magolor! Sorry to butt in so rudely on your me-sponsored meal, but I'd really appreciate it if you could answer a few questions for me. I'd like to hear from everyone on what they'd like me to bring to the Council next month. As your ambassador, I couldn't do this important work without your input~!

[Verstael was around, but more notably, besides taking a look at the rebuilding, he was perhaps less helpful than Magolor in some ways. Grunt work? For him? Not when he had skills he could contribute instead. No surprises that he was documenting what he saw, and as people started to fall ill he decided to assist with that.

However, when he spotted what Magolor was doing he couldn't help but hesitate.]

...While I have no current need for these specimens, it does seem wasteful.

[There should be something they could do with all those bodies.]

[Vianca peeked out from her shivery, miserable mess of blankets, her expression borderline actually looking as distraught as she felt. She really wasn't! Used to being sick! Had she ever been sick, actually? This was a terrible time! Probably she was just dying! That didn't feel good last time and so far it didn't feel good this time either.

It took exactly zero additional prompting for her to scoot over a little, even if between the two of them there was probably still space for an actual person sized person on the cot. Point was: welcome aboard Magolor. Let her drape some of her blanket over you.]

Hello. [Did anyone think it was possible for her to get any quieter? Time to experience Vianca (wheezing).]

A: Barrier
[ Setting down the cart of bricks she pushes (a hefty size, some might notice for a woman so lithe), her gaze roams up and over the parts of the breach that give way to the golden barrier. A sizable boulder violently smashes against the shield, sparking a prismatic shockwave of silver, blue, pink, and white, soon dissolving back into the integrity of woven light. It remains intact.

Her lips part, and a breath escapes her; it’s almost as if she’s in awe. ] It's... divine... 

B: Why Are You Working When You Are Sick, Stop That
[ Her brow instantly furrows with concern the moment she sees you. There is something about you that doesn’t seem quite well; perhaps it’s your gait, your posture, or maybe you had let a shiver or cough escape you. Regardless, she’s noticed it— and that you are pushing yourself. And goodness do you look just awful and exhausted as you turn back to the wall, preparing to return to work despite the illness that begins to encroach. 

Unable to help herself, she steps forward and reaches out to take your hand. ]  W-wait.... How long has it been since you have rested? 

C: Chills
[ Cold. This is the first time she feels cold, and it’s like prickles of pins all across her skin— or perhaps the kiss of unfeeling metal. It’s much more overwhelming than she’d ever thought it’d be, visceral and consuming. Pyra cannot be more amazed by it, for this— this is what humans might feel—   and it shows in a sparkle of surprise within her eyes.

It is, however, unpleasant enough to leave her shivering, her skin pale and lips grey. An unidentifiable ache consumes her body, and she wraps her arms about her as she leans against a wall.
Pyra raises one of her hands before her as if to inspect it. Nothing seems different, she feels no change in energy from herself, but the malaise is almost nauseating. Her eyes raise to meet yours, if you happen to to be watching, yet still she smiles. ]  I... I feel cold. 

D: Cuddle Tent
[ This must be what it feels like to be sick, sitting upon a cot with a blanket bundled about her shoulders. Maybe you’re walking by, or maybe you’re lying on the cot next to her; in either case she addresses you, reaching out her hand. ]  Would you mind resting with me?

[ Her smile is warm and welcoming, despite being one of those who are ill. All she asks for is a little bit of aid, as it will also provide a chance for the recipient of her touch to fend off the cold. Far be it for her to ignore the plight of rebuilding the wall for any second longer than necessary. ] 

E: Experiment No. 73
[ It’s taken a bit of time to get here, but at last she’s arrived to contribute to the cause! Parting hands with her roommate to leave him to explore on his own, she browses the displays with an excited interest. The food replicators are a feat of engineering an ingenuity alone, and she's curious to see just how the locals intend to improve upon its already miraculous functions. 

Creating food so easily, seemingly out of thin-air... She knows for certain that there is more too it, for the energy of the barrier is hauntingly similar to that of which the replicators emit, but that alone does not make the technology any less wondrous. 

You happen to be at one of the tables with her, at which she squints at the sign. ] Experiment... number... seventy-three? [ A pause. Then, a smile— at you, too! ] Who knew that being part of a test could be so... delicious.

F: Virtual Spa/Columns
[ Catch her touching one of the healing columns within the baths, only to suddenly withdraw her palm from the cool marble. In case anyone is wondering, she is draped in this bath robe. ] The sensation is practically... visceral. 

[ She tilts her head, glancing at you. ] If the residents of Havenwell can replicate that sensation for themselves through electricity [ For that is what this virtual reality is, isn't' it? Impulses, codes, simulation for the mind-- ] ...Would they really need to recreate new bodies for themselves of flesh-and-blood?

[ Could they not build receptors into their metal husks to simulate touch? Such as pressure and temperature sensors, and so forth. ]

[ Pyra isn't so indulgent as to invite someone out for no reason. This, Somnus knows. She enjoys the natural world with not just unnatural naivety, but also a self-consciousness that's equally ill-suited to her being. While she has desires, she does not impose them on others—only asks if she should have that reason to approach another.

Thus, they visit the classic outdoors together. On entering the virtual reality, they find themselves deposited near the hot spring. The thud of a wooden pipe against a nearby rock announces their arrival, alerting them to the direction of the spring itself.

The haze conjured by the steamy body of water clings to his skin, and Somnus looks down at a hand. The scenario has stripped them of their respective attires and appropriately dressed them in towels. He glances at Pyra—lingering for a split second on the exposed portion of the crystal that's largely shrouded by the towel wrapped around her body, emitting a gentle glow—before he turns toward the spring with an impassive mien. ]

We have arrived.

[Manual labour is not something one would normally list in a prince's specialties, and Noctis is no exception to that. Even so, he has a few unique skills that come in handy with the rebuilding effort, so he's hanging out at the wall pretty consistently: using his Armiger "hammerspace" to transport supplies, providing some fire to light the equipment used for melting materials, warping tools between the workers up on the wall.

He has to be careful to avoid overusing magic and hitting Stasis, so he can also be found hanging out for a rest down below, watching the work being done and pretending he might actually learn something.]

[Thanks to all the wall work, of course he ends up in the recovery area, burrowing so deeply into a big blanket pile that only a floof of black hair is visible, sticking up out of the top. He'll likely (and stubbornly) resist most attempts to wake him up.]

( iii: a new recipeh )

[They need taste-testers? Hell yeah, he's there. Somewhat uncharacteristically though, when he isn't burying his plate in all the different kinds of meats, he's taking pictures and notes on some of the dishes, like some kind of foodie instagrammer. What the heck is he even doing.]

( iv: spa time spa time )

[Noctis certainly doesn't have to be told twice that there's a self-indulgent spa in the VR cafes this month. During times that he isn't sick (or at least not too miserable to walk over) he's diving right in. First he checks out the Theme Park, though probably not for long since it really is not what he'd expected. Hopefully, he can get out before he's air-drunk. After that, his attention is split between the Classic Outdoors, for the aesthetics, and the Marble Columns, for his bad leg and the aches and pains that a day of hard work can earn you.

Clothes! Are! Not! Optional! For him, anyway. And depending on how much skin is out in the open he may die of embarrassment.]

[Wake him up? Who needs to wake him up! He needs to rest!! The small blanket pile that was shambling over to that familiar floof of hair did not need him to be awake. It simply tipped right over against him, forming a slightly larger mound of blankets.]

[Ignis isn't much for construction work, unfortunately. He wants to help out, but he knows he would only be in the way. So he stays home, working on solving the mystery Regis laid before him, though he doesn't get very far.

(Sometimes, two heads are better than one.)

Still, one thing he can help with is food. While some of the creations of the replicator are completely foreign to him - he has no idea what a chicken or a cow is - he still knows food.]

This isn't supposed to stay crunchy after you cook it.

[He's talking about onions, standing next to a scientist. He's been here for...a while, now.]

Yes, I'm sure you can improve on it.

This is going to be more of an endeavor than I imagined.

[If he had it his own way, he wouldn't go - and it's not like anyone told him to go, he just...imagined there are people out there who would want to see him relax. So a virtual spa day it is!

Though he could have gone without the nudity.

Also, it seems like they've improved their technology since the last time he used a headset, because instead of being greeted by a voice telling him what's going on he, he can...see. He can actually see the person in front of him, and he visibly startles. He wasn't expecting that, and after so long getting used to his lack of vision he's thrown for a loop.]

Ah, my apologies. I...wasn't expecting to see you.

[There was a quick splash as Ardyn ducked lower in the water out of surprise; long violet hair tied up a bit messily and a harsh scar from a stab wound in the middle of his chest, the visible difference between him now and the monster in Altissia was perhaps literally night and day.]

S-sorry, I...well, I thought I might see what all the fuss was about these devices...and, ah--sh-should I leave? Perhaps I should leave.

[Not the least of which being that he seemed legitimately self-conscious.]

Having that big, gaping hole in the wall so close to Rawna's temple is... concerning. Very concerning for those who might happen to spend a good deal of time at the temple, and those who might happen to feel incredibly anxious about the physical barrier being down, even if the magic one is up and running smoothly.

Shinji is one such person, so even without the temptation of a monetary reward, he'd want to help get that damage repaired. This is, however... not something he's used to doing. Like, at all. He's a pretty scrawny kid, in all honesty, and this heavy lifting takes him a little longer than it might for some sturdier helpers. Either way, he's doing his best, and it's a task that brings about its own kind of interest - actually taking an active role in larger-scale repair work is a change of pace, sure - but also the chance to take a peek at the world outside is Very Tempting. Pictures over the network are one thing, seeing it in person is another.

"Whoa..."

So, when he isn't helping (slowly) haul materials or (carefully) fit bricks in place, he can be found stealing peeks through the breach, through the safety of the magical barrier, with a look of quiet, faintly sad awe. That... hoo boy, that storm sure is a dismal sight, huh?

Of course, patching up a wall is all fun and games (despite there being no fun nor games to be found at the repair site) until the offworlders start getting sick.

"No, really, I'm fine," and someone here is refusing to admit that he's not doing to hot anymore! Fever? Shortness of breath? No, no, see, this isn't something to worry about! "I'm just, ha... I'm not used to it being this cold."

Oh well yeah that's definitely a more reasonable answer to this sudden onslaught of not-feeling-well...-ness. Concerned robo-priests and offworlders alike are going to be tossed the same explanation if any attempts to fuss over Shinji are made. Let him just take a short break out here! Instead of corralling him off somewhere else! This is F I N E.

Oh wow!

This is kind of amazing, isn't it? Even keeping in mind that a lot of these offerings are, apparently, very experimental still, seeing all these different dishes laid out for sampling, for the express purpose of actually getting feedback and improving what's available, that's pretty cool...!

Even in less of a party-themed gathering, Shinji's not the most social person in larger crowds like this, sticking mostly to the assigned task of 'eat this, tell us what you think!' Still, he may seem just a touch more animated than usual in the role of feedback-giver rather than awkward wallflower, which probably makes him look like a more inviting conversational partner as well.

But, hey, at least food serves as a good pretext for small talk, in any case...!

I: Just Whistle While You Work

[Kiwi, being the scrawny songbird they are, is not very strong and hasn't done a lot of manual labor in their time. Thus, their contributions to the rebuilding efforts are out of the ordinary, as they have something they CAN contribute; their sonorous tenor pipes. While they help carry lighter items or toss tools across the work area with a surprisingly practiced accuracy - always landing in a perfect catch for the other person - they sang light-hearted jaunty tunes to motivate the team through the work day. For everyone who listened, not only would their spirits be lightened by the cheery songs, but even their heavy equipment would seem more effortless to carry, as if the bard literally took the weight off of the hard work.]

II: idk I'm out of songs about illness SICK TENT THREAD.

[But after a day or so of doing their bardly duty, it became immediately apparent when something was wrong. It started with feeling vaguely winded after a song, which they attributed to just needing to slow down a little on their songs. But even trying their usual tricks to continue singing like normal, they rapidly deteriorated - they weren't out of breath. The stagger and lean against the nearest solid surface.]

I. I can't breathe.

[That was the most they could muster before their head swam and clouded with a familiar fever and they sank to the ground, feeling as though they were made of lead.

It turns out they weren't alone, as a handful of Havenwell residents rushed to carry Kiwi away from the site to a cozy tent, where a few others were also now resting. They didn't argue the point; they wouldn't be able to stand up if they wanted to. And at least here with the others in recovery they weren't alone. They did, however, whenever they could muster the strength, lift an arm out from under their blanket and stare deliriously at it, making sure it didn't go transparent.]

[Cor was trying his best to ignore the tightness in his chest, the heat in his veins, usually comforting heat becoming more and more dangerous. His head was swimming but he was possibly the most stubborn man here. Certainly as hard headed as a Mudsdale, as Will liked to say.

So it's not until he sees Kiwi collapse that he finally allows himself to step away from the wall. It takes longer than he cares to admit to get back to the rest tent but when he does he searches Kiwi out, sliding down to sit beside the bard.... for their sake, clearly.]

You shouldn't push yourself so hard.

And he ignores the way that seeing this makes his heart trip up into some real anxiety. Magolor isn't one to be susceptible to fear or worry, but—if it's Reyson, and this looks bad—

[ Before her venture outside of the breach, Honerva had been quite proactive in helping gather materials for the rebuilding process. Of course, that would have resulted in her being absent from this work for a few weeks after, and... well. It does still need like a lot of work is needed here. Easier to take stock of the damages now that they aren't constantly under attack and better organized for it.

Of course, she's not here as physical support. If she moves anything at all, it's carried over by her magic, as she sorts through rubble, seeing what can be used or what needs to be recycled, a fairly mindless task, while keeping an eye on the fixed barrier and gauging through it. She might be called over to move other things too, should there be paths that might have been too cluttered for others to move freely around. A good chance to study what's there though, is it not? ]

[ At least, it's a good time to study until Honerva finds herself once more becoming overcome by that ailment. It comes on too strongly for her to remove herself from the area properly, stumbling until she stops at a wall and remains there. She still has work to do, this is egregious? And it keeps happening? Perhaps previous exposure doesn't help develop immunity.

She's not even certain who ends up bringing her to the tent, half the time, whether it was the robots or not. Mostly she curls up on herself, taking up very little space, until someone else is brought in. Unless she's been set down with someone else. Nnngh.]

[ 90% of the reason why she's here is because of her housemates encouraging a night out for a change, and because of the familiar experiment, one they'd uncovered in the archives, even if it seemed mild in comparison to the others that had been discovered.

Even so, she might be found shaking her head with some of the robots who approach her, telling them more plainly that she cannot give them an accurate response, being unfamiliar with most of the dishes in question, and has them go to someone else instead.

Still, this is some respite from the illness at least, even if the endeavor is a bit wasted on her. ]

That’s what must have happened. He came here to rest. He just, can’t remember how he got here, or where the blankets came from, or why he’s shivering and burning at the same time.

[Wasn't this unexpected? Verstael came to the area not to assist with the physical work, but to examine what he could. When people started dropping he didn't shy away from putting his expertise to use. While he didn't do much to actively rebuild, he did quickly join in the medical care efforts.

So many exerted themselves to the point of exhaustion that he became one of few on hand to assist with recovery, leading naturally to this unexpected outcome as one of the many people dragged out to the recovery area was his own clone.

Well. He was a professional. He went about his business as he would any other person, first and foremost getting a drink to re-hydrate his patient.

When Prompto stirred the first thing he would hear was the clunk of a glass on a table beside him, placed by none other than his favorite father looking down at him with little more attachment than he would any random soldier on a battlefield.]

Well. Rin sees the problem in the HOLE but she has a problem of her own, namely that an 11 year old is essentially useless at this. Still, she can fetch and carry, and she's quite happy to be flagged down by anyone to bring or fetch something, and if not, she can be found carrying water (in a bucket with a scoop, no less) to people who are, you know, actually working.

Perhaps because she's such a touchy feely child in the first place, perhaps because she's... just really good at pretending everything is fine. The first anyone knows of Rin being sick is her just... dropping to the ground in a dead faint.

It was fortunate that Verstael had shown up not to help with the grunt work, but to document what he could and later help who fell ill. Normally he would not be a very touchy-feely man, but when he spotted Rin on the ground he made an exception. A small child shouldn't be left in the spot where she became ill.

He scooped her up, unintentionally giving her some of the contact she would need, and immediately headed towards the area that had been set aside for recovery. If nothing else she needed to be separated from whatever made her sick.

The spot he found had little in it. Some basic furnishings, whatever counted as decor to the natives, but most importantly access to some food and drink. He lowered her gently onto a couch and immediately fetched a drink for hydration, taking a seat by her with cup in hand and waiting for her to awaken.

For the longest time, Vianca had always assumed it was her sisters that were the only very strong little girls. An understandable assumption, when you were comparing yourself to little girls lifting like a thousand pounds on their own. Vianca definitely could not in any way shape or form lift a thousand pounds. That was absurd.

Without the context though, it was just as absurd to observe this pink speck running back and forth (quickly!) from one spot to the wall while carrying Way Too Many Bricks? They'd even strapped a basket on her back? This was too many bricks? Child? Stop?

There was no stop, only Go. The hole was deeply upsetting, and while fixing it wouldn't change what was outside... Well. Outside could stay outside, for now.


✿ ii. AIR SICK
With how determined she was to actually be useful and be able to do something, Vianca was absolutely getting wrecked.

A: Carrying so many bricks and being very small were not a good combination when one was about to teeter over. Everything started to feel heavier and heavier, until Vianca kind of just... Stopped. She stopped right there, wherever she was, and just... crouched down, burying her face in her knees until she caught her breath. This happened. Frequently.

B: However it was she ended up in the rest tent, Vianca had started gravitating to one particular spot to have fitful naps in. Catch her all curled up in a shivery ball, with all this empty space next to her on the cot. It was free real estate!

C: Once she was well enough to at least hobble places, and she figured out it was the cuddles that were doing the thing again, the chances were very high that she was crawling into bed with other ill people. The "Be Helpful" desire was just as strong in this department, especially if it meant being able to go be the other kind of helpful, so. Here she was. Snuggling up close or taking someone's hands or leading a new sick initiate to a cot.

The logistics of how Vianca was here were not important. She just was. The only one that she was doing her best to avoid was the Theme Park, because that had been. A lot. Regardless of which one she was at, she was keeping to herself off to the side and sitting on the edge, only dipping her feet in. This was very much a Towels Required zone for her, but towels were not enough to cover up the small pair of delicate looking, insect-like wings folded carefully against her back. How about that!

Fixing books wasn't something Kai could do, but helping build a wall certainly is. He was getting a little sick of seeing the hole everyday. Helping with the hauling is a thing, and he opted for helping with hauling spiders wherever they needed to go. When that wasn't the task, he found he took well to the actual masonry going on up top.

Of course it was hard to have a proper conversation up there, so there was always the chance you'd catch him catching a break down below.

So he was there from time to time, sometimes passed out on his own cot of misery, sometimes making sure certain troublemakers were behaving themselves and getting their own rest, lest they get sent to baby jail. Oh! Hey! Something actually had come from all of Magolor's surveys! Kai was honestly pretty surprised by this turn of events. He'd shown up, because why not? Even then, he finds he cannot truly rest, not with his mind racing all the faster now that he is physically idle and unable to do much more than shiver and breathe.]

[His looking around doesn't travel far, as his seat seems to be near to another who has taken ill. He watches the man a moment or two before reaching out, to be sure he hasn't fallen asleep. The last thing he wants is to make this worse for anyone.]

Well, well, well.

Tamaki was, in his own opinion, not incredibly helpful when the wall was destroyed. He's not much of a fighter, and has no unique powers that could have helped stopped up the breach itself, so other than doing his best to make sure anyone he ran across was safe, it hadn't been a great time for him.

This! Is something he's a little more capable of handling.

He doesn't actually have much experience with heavy labor, though he's got a fairly decent set of muscles and a lot of stamina at his disposal. Hauling stuff around doesn't require that much of a learning curve, so... hauling stuff around it is! Spider corpses, or rocks and bricks, wherever there is stuff to be hauled, you can find this boy here!

All of that running around is bound to catch up with him sooner or later, and the instant he recognizes that this isn't normal fatigue, Tamaki... is terrified.

Fever? That's bad! Aches and pains? That's bad!! Trouble breathing? That's INCREDIBLY bad!!! Oh god, is this what Riku feels like every time he has an attack?! Does he need to see a doctor??! Luckily, as soon as one of the natives that are hanging around sees him starting to freak out over this, Tamaki is quickly whisked away to the recovery tent with little resistance.

So, here's one incredibly antsy guy, trying to keep calm but also probably not getting much real rest in his worry.

"Think they've got anyone coming by to help...?" Like... these robots clearly don't need doctors, right? But is there someone who could help take care of the fleshier occupants of this tent?

Oh so hugging it out helps ease the symptoms here. Who could have seen that coming?

Working hard at the wall repair site was all fine and good, but you know what's way, WAY easier than doing hard work to help out? Hanging out around the recovery area while he's recovering and helping out here. While he's still trying to kick the last dregs of his own symptoms, he can be found approaching anyone else who doesn't have anyone already keeping them company.

Oh hell yes. Tamaki may have been largely surviving on the most basic things he and his roommate can get out of the replicators at their house for quite a while now, so the opportunity to have something new? Something already prepared? And all he has to do is give feedback? He! Is there!

"It's, uh..." He is squinting at the plate of tomatoes he has just grabbed a slice from. "Is it supposed to be this bitter?"

Taking a break? And hanging out at a fancy spa?? That sounds! Awesome!!

It's not the kind of thing Tamaki hangs out at the VR cafes for, typically being far more interested in the actual games than any of the slice-of-life simulations, but the idea of spending a little time enjoying a ~luxurious~ getaway without all the travel and hassle.

The Theme Park grabs his attention first -- Oh wait no that is super not what he had in mind. Unless someone flags him down to hang out here for any longer, he's only going to stay logged in to this area long enough to figure out it's not the kind of place he wants to be. What a bummer...!

The Marbled Columns baths are a better bet, though. He could very easily see his manager or groupmates encouraging something that would promote overall health, after all!

REBUILDING EFFORT

[ For all that she loathes being here, avoids touch whenever possible, and resents a great deal about the current situation, it is not within Era to deny help to those in need when she's able. Rebuilding after a destructive battle reminds her a great deal of home, and she's happy to do whatever is needed so long as it does not require touch; hauling corpses, heavy loads, or even laying bricks are all well within her capabilities. For one so small and slight Era is certainly not weak, though she does not have quite the same amount of physical strength and stamina in Havenwell as she's accustomed to. It is concerning, though she does her best not to dwell on it. Instead she finds alternative solutions, such as summoning her Carbuncle in its larger Topaz form and having it aid in hauling things around. It is certainly not Peki, but a Carbuncle is better than nothing.

Carbuncle, for its part, is eager to offer assistance. Larger than it is when in its Emerald form of bright aether-blue, reaching closer to Era's hips than to her knees, Topaz Carbuncle glows a beautiful, golden yellow. ]

AIR SICKNESS

[ Having only just recently recovered from the caustic atmosphere of the world beyond the barrier, Era is in complete denial that she may have fallen ill again. She had never been sick prior to this month, and she certainly was not going to be sick again.

If she is tired, it's because she has been working hard and barely resting.

If she feels chilled down to her bones, it's because she has never dealt well with the cold and her wardrobe is woefully unprepared for winter weather.

If she finds it hard to breathe, it's simply lingering damage from the first time she was ill.

Of course, Era is quick to note illness in others, and while she cannot offer what they need to recover (not unless they were one of three people she trusts above all others here), Era can at least usher them toward a place to rest, scrounge up something warm and soothing to drink, and make sure they are given proper attention from others more capable than herself.

Her Carbuncle is more than willing to aid her in her hypocritical venture, using its size to its advantage, and while under normal circumstances both it and Era herself would avoid allowing it to be touched, the aether its comprised of (Era's own; warm and encompassing, like a smile blooming in one's chest) is well suited to offer temporary comfort. If it is to soothe the ill, Era can push aside the visceral discomfort of a stranger touching her aether.

For her own comforts, Era hoards the warmth her dream guide emits from where he has curled up around her neck in the form of a pure white weasel, and keeps herself swaddled in the warm sweater she pleaded with Emet-Selch to Create for her (it is warm and Dark and she can practically taste the aether its made of when she inhales—). These things are more than enough for her, and so long as she is capable of aiding others she will do so. ]

A TASTY REWARD

[ While she had originally been hesitant to participate, even with the promise of free food, Era eventually found herself stuffing her face with all manner of questionable things. Whatever feedback she gives is generally succinct and likely rather unhelpful, as she is not the pickiest of eaters. A comment about an incorrect texture here, perhaps, or a mismatched aroma there...

The entire set-up does seem too good to be true, but it has been too many months since Era last ate her fill (despite her roommate's persistent reminders that she does no one any good by restraining herself. that there is plenty of food. that she is not taking away from others by consuming the amount her energy levels require her to—), and so she quickly abandons her hesitance when faced with an abundance of food she need not pay for with her body. She eats like a woman starved, and eats far, far more than her diminutive form would suggest her capable of. ]

It wasn't hard to just roll up his sleeves and set to work moving stone and setting in bricks, even if he did look like a beanpole in a sensible cardigan. And though he kept hard at work every so often he'd pause to look beyond the wall; watching the unearthly-colored storm with clear unease.]

[...Era did have a point. They were going to have to learn more about this world, if there was even the faintest chance of helping it at all.]

[Part of him had been afraid something like this would happen. Ever since awakening and leaving Angelgard--ever since he'd stopped being human, the symptoms of Starscourge hadn't plagued him in the slightest. He'd felt better than he could remember having felt as a mortal, and now it was painfully the opposite. There was a terrible ache in his body, every breath bringing the forcibly repressed urge to cough. No, he knew this sort of thing far too well and immediately turned as reclusive and hard to find as he could.]

[Maybe someone would catch him looking a little paler than usual, or notice he was a bit unsteady on his feet. Of course he'd just wave their concern off with a smile and look for an excuse to leave as quickly as he could; there was no reason to put anyone else at risk, after all.]

[Eventually, things would clear up as they often did. And though he didn't strictly need to eat by any means, Ardyn found he was a little interested. Especially after learning just a bit of how to cook from helping Ignis in the kitchen. So he would be around a time or two--notably, only offering his opinions and gentle corrections on the fruits and vegetables.]

[Heads up, Momo; it seems that you're getting a robot scientist pointed in your direction because you clearly seem to know how things are supposed to taste around here.]

I. Rebuild the wall
[He was being asked by one of the robots to assist and help the others. He doesn't see why not. He needed a task to keep himself productive. For now, he has no idea what happened to the wall other than being informed that the barrier was broken down the month prior. He might as well help around to rebuild the wall, because it's a type of work he needs to do and he doesn't want to go back to his house to sit idly.]

II. Air Sickness
[Sebastian discovered and figured out he was strangely weakened by a fraction of his original strength when he arrived in this world. During working near the wall, his breathing is shallow and erratic, then his body begin to feel achy and feverish. It was the strangest experience to be sick. It was both interesting and pathetic at the same time.

He was towed away in the recovery area to a giant tent where he lay on one of the cots with pillows and blanket generously provided.]

...I never been sick before.

[As he said this, having difficulty to spare his dignity, he coughed into the handkerchief and groans from feeling miserable as he lay on the cot.]

III. Tasty reward
[Sebastian took the invitation, only because he find the replicators a challenge to work with, especially when he wanted to cook his meals the right away, and the food tasted abysmal even to him. He arrived in the North Research tower to find with the rest of the otherworlders that a banquet has been prepared for such an occasion.

It looks like a restaurant set-up with the overflowing of food on each table, a setting he's more than familiar with. Sebastian, with his experience as a butler, lending his experience to give the robot's feedback on the dishes. He approves of the cooked food, and frowns at the badly cooked dishes.]

My goodness, how did your people ever learn to cook? This dish is raw and undercooked. This is bland and you have to correct the seasonings in this one. For this one, it's not sweet when it supposed. Hm, this dish is just right. This one is overcooked, however.

[Nevermind what he thinks of the synthetic fruit basket. Even if given with courteous intentions. He finds it absymal to his taste.]

IV. Virtual space and VR café
[The experience with the VR is the oddest and strangest experience for Sebastian. Apparently, for one to enjoy a soak in the waters, it needs to be a virtual experience. He rather preferred the real thing. But for now, this would do. For his bathing, he tried them all. The classical outdoors, the marbled columns for it's Roman bath look, the steamy sauna, the milk and honey, and even the theme park with its wine theme, he liked them all. It was good accommodation, he gives them that.

The VR system might randomly select a player during his bathtime, before, or after. Who knows who might show up randomly by the generator within the system?]

[A gentle and cool hand was pressed to his forehead before a compress was placed there and Snow White smiled at him as she sat on the bed beside him.]

There there, it's alright. Everyone gets sick at least once, I suppose this is your once. But don't worry, we'll get you right as rain in no time. You just need some rest and some yummy food to eat. [She lightly patted his hand, giving it a gentle squeeze.]

i: rebuilding effort
[The Exarch does not skimp when it comes to offering everything he can, everything that he has, in order to ensure worlds and the people within them are safe and well provided for. While he has more recently in his own world been used to handling less of the on the ground work and wrestling with the more political and command end of things, he isn't afraid to roll up his sleeves and step right into the thick of it.]

[In this effort, he has abandoned the robes of his station and dressed in a simple sleeveless top and loose pants with boots, much like what he once wore in his younger years. Though his staff remains in its place on his back, he can be found in the middle of the mess, helping to haul bricks or turning spider bodies into cinders after they've created a large enough pile of them.]

[For someone who often points out his age, he certainly doesn't seem to bear any of those woes here and now. If sight of the storm beyond the breach puts a boost in his step, well...]


ii: air sickness
[It hits him slowly, and just as well, he's slow to notice it until he's no longer sweating in result of his efforts at the breach, but instead he's trembling of cold. Overtaken by crystal though part of his body is, he is still mostly flesh and blood and not immune to the likes of illness, though he can't fathom what sort he might have contracted.]

[Stubborn as he is, he pushes himself just a little further, but it's too much and eventually he is ushered into a tent where he'll be found sitting on the edge of a cot, unwilling to admit his surrender to the illness just yet and allow himself to lie down. The blanket around his shivering shoulders tells a different story, as does the angle of his ears and droop of his tail.]

[Maybe if he rests here a while, he tells himself. Maybe if he allows himself more water and a little soup, he'll be well enough to go out again in a few hours. Maybe a day. A day, at best.]

[Goofy, at first, doesn't recognize his pal. He's used to the robes, after all! So when he spots the spider-turned-cinders, he whistles in admiration.]

[I - Rebuilding]

[As always, Lance isn't about to sit back when there's work to be done. He's incredibly grateful that the horrors of the last month (and in some cases, longer) are finally over. Couldn't they have just had a normal Halloween like anyone else? Either or, there's much rebuilding to be done after the giant spider attack, and Lance finds himself at the front lines of it hauling rocks, clearing rubble, and putting things back together. He steers clear of the spider corpses, finding them still kind of terrifying and disgusting even if they're dead.

[II - Sickness]

[Being at the wall often to help rebuild means it isn't long before Lance comes down with the mysterious illness. He's been in the medical tent once before, before he himself got too sick, when Keith was in horrible shape. But right now, it seems as if it's his turn. Lance currently occupies one of the cots, looking very much worse for the wear, alternating between sitting and laying down in various positions as he tries to make himself comfortable. He's a little hesitant on asking for help, for whatever reason, so one might have to reach out to him...]



[III - Tasty Reward]

[After all the crap that happened in October, and the illnesses in the earlier part of this month, Lance was desperate for something to go right. Something good to happen. And although not exactly perfect, this "experiment" takes the cake. Pun very much intended. Even if it's still replicated food, he's eager to try whatever they've come up with. Even if it'll be nowhere near as good as taste testing Hunk's cuisine.

Lance flits from table to table as he samples everything there. He's always had a pretty good metabolism and he's still incredibly active, so he has no qualms of wolfing down as much as he's able. Throughout the time the experiment is going on, he finds himself making a few visits there.]



[IV - Virtual Spa]

[It's as if all his namedays birthdays have come at once. Spas are Lance's absolute jam, okay? He loves the relaxation, the hot tubs, the saunas, the face masks, the massages... Though he hasn't gone to all too many in his life, they'd always been an absolute treat. Even though this is just VR, it doesn't mean Lance isn't going to absolutely enjoy the everliving quiznak out of this, and he finds himself strapping in several days in a row to experience all the place has to offer.

One can find Lance in each and every part of the spa. He lounges about in the baths and springs, sits in the sauna, and walks around the outdoors. The theme park as well--there's no short amount of giddiness he feels throughout. Join him in any of them?]

[It's been a rough few months, but Keith is finally feeling better, and Lance is too. It's not a surprise that he gets dragged along with the other paladin to the virtual spa, though he grumbles and fusses about it all the while.]

[He's not very strong or terribly skilled. But he'll be found carrying what supplies her can to those who are actually working on the wall. More than once, he'll be spotted taking a rest. Even at sixteen, the Phantomhive boy wasn't build for actual labor.]

[Comes the teens voice, just behind whoever he's found at the wall.]

[At first, Ciel thinks it's just his running around that has him feeling so awful. So he just took a short break to have a drink of water and a quick bit of food, before he went right back to trying to help.

Except it wasn't enough and it's getting harder to really do anything. He feels heavy and tired and overheated. And he just wants to lay down and sleep.

He doesn't though, not right away. Instead, Ciel keeps trying to work.]

[IV.]

[After he got sick, and recovered, Ciel cut back on time around the wall. And by cut down, he actually cut it entirely out of his daily tasks. To fill in that newly freed time, he made his way to one of the VR cafes. He still liked games and this VR technology had definitely managed to hold his interest with all the new games and scenarios they kept offering.

He tries each scenario, mostly hoping that one of them won't require him to be naked while in the virtual space. It's not that he's ashamed of his body, especially since his brand had been removed two years before. No, it was that he grew up in a time when nobody but his future wife was supposed to see him without clothes.

So anyone that finds themselves paired with his 'game' will find the young man covering himself as best he can with his hands or a towel. Or by completely sinking into the water.]

[Snow White had been ushering people and back and forth from the tent, being a bedside nurse and handing out food and cuddles to any in need. She pushed back some of his hair from his sweating brow.]

To bed with you, Ciel. [She soothed turning him around in the direction of where all the sick are being housed.] I've a stew waiting for you as well and a nice long nap. Come come, no arguing.

[Aqua is using what magic she can to help rebuild the wall. A gravity spell here and there to lift and guild the bigger stones. It saved other people the pain, and possible injury, of trying to carry it all themselves. So most people that end up in her company only really need to set down mortal and everything, give a little tug to the stones from here to there, and her magic will handle the heavy parts.

Once in awhile she has to stop, just to take a breather. Magic isn't easy to keep going nonstop, after all. Once she's had a chance to recharge though, she's off to find anyone else who might be struggling.]

[She's sick, yep.

And she recognizes it early on. She's never gotten fevers before, not unless she was terribly ill, and she's fit. So aches and pains are definitely noticeable, Eraqus had kept them training hard all of their lives.

The last thing she wants to do though is stop. Maybe a bit of a rest though. Just for a bit.]

[Of course, how could she resist helping the city and the natives? And how could she resist trying new foods and flavors? It seems like great fun and it delights her to no end to see that Maglor had a hand in the whole thing. She'll have to find Magolor and give him some bit of congratulations. And her thanks.]

Oh Light. [When she gets there, she just stares at the tables and the food. Are there even enough people to get through it all?]
