♥ June (Dianir) Event Log

June (Dianir) Event Log
Ainea's time has ended and now Diacht's months have arrived. Dianir marks the beginning of the hot summer months with a rise in temperature as well as humidity. With each passing day, spring gives way to summer, and the natives of Havenwell are enjoying the blue skies along with the newly expanded barrier. With the most dangerous of the beasts gone thanks to offworlder help last month, researchers and conservationists head out on occasion into the newly opened areas to continue the work of cataloguing and preserving what they can find. Some take time to study the barrier and some just seem to enjoy being outside the walls for the first time in centuries. Meanwhile, the city within seems to have calmed from Ealom's excitement, settling into its usual routine with only a few…"hiccups."
❥ PROMPT I: Hana-hack-i

With the turning of the seasons, the weather warms up and Diacht's influence grows in strength. 'Tis the season to be honest with one another, because if you aren't, you may begin to feel a tickle in the back of your throat…
For those who have feelings repressed, secrets unaddressed, or maybe just won't confide in a friend when they're feeling depressed, the gods work in mysterious ways. Specifically, in the fact that the offworlders may find themselves coughing up flower petals. Whether petals of plantlife from Havenwell itself or another world entirely, the longer one goes without confessing their troubles or sentiments the more insistent their condition until they might even have trouble getting through a whole sentence without finding a corsage's worth stuck in their mouth. Speaking minor truths will lessen the effect a little at a time, while larger or more impactful ones will work to cure it completely.
While not painful or otherwise physically harmful, the affliction does feel awkward and very likely doesn't taste all that great. Not to mention it's going to be difficult to keep secrets when everyone can see you have a mouthful of flower.

❥ PROMPT II: Uproot of the Spirit

Those offworlders that have been present in Havenwell since the previous June may remember an outbreak of traits and desires not necessarily their own, reflecting the dominion of their associated god instead. With the return of the early summer season, so too do such urges begin to resurface--but not quite in the same fashion.
This time around, things are a bit different--adherents to one god may find themselves with any other god or gods' traits, with one or more applying at once, one and then another on different days, any multitude of combinations apart from those of the deity to which they belong. For example, one under Diacht may have the effects of Rawna one day and Ainea the next, or perhaps Ainea and Ohma both at once, but never contend with Diacht's influence. And while the previous year seemed to deal with the gods' animal natures, it seems this time things are a little different as people begin manifesting extreme versions of their gods' emotional domains.
Ohma: As the god of wisdom, Ohma's influence becomes a desperate and insistent need to exchange knowledge. The affected may ask friends and strangers all manner of questions, ranging from 'where did you get that shirt' to 'how do you like your eggs' and everything in between. In exchange, the affected also wish to share their own information on just about everything they know, whether the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow or the entire plot of a book they read that one time. They simply have to give and seek knowledge to and from whoever they can find.
Ainea: The influence of the god of compassion leads the affected to be almost aggressively kind. Complimenting every little thing those around them might say, do, wear--if it can be spoken kindly about, those under Ainea's influence will do so excessively and well past the point of obnoxious. So too might they feel a compulsion to give gifts to others--specifically, giving away the affected's own possessions. Once the effect wears off, one might even have to track down their new and old friends to get their more important things back...
Diacht: Honor and honesty being Diacht's domain, those affected by them will be incapable of lying. They will be compelled to not only speak the truth, but do so out of obligation no matter how awkward for them or the other party. Even if it means speaking a brutally honest opinion or divulging a carefully hidden secret, so long as the words are true to the affected speaker they will have the urge to share it. To tell a lie or general untruth will make them feel suddenly ill, dispelled only by speaking something truthful instead.
Rawna: Rawna's reasoning takes the forefront of their influence; anyone under their affect will be insistent upon hearing and soothing the emotional hurts of others. They are certain they need to be a listening ear or comforting shoulder to the absolute best of their abilities and beyond--that is to say, they will not only go out of their way to find others' problems, but potentially assume ones exist where they do not. Some dear friends haven't spoken in an entire day? Clearly they had a terrible fight, and it's up to Rawna's affected to fix it.

❥ PROMPT III: 'Cause I'd Get A Thousand Hugs

Yet another indication that the world is recovering is the reappearance of the Fairy Lights. As the weather turns warmer, these beautiful little insects take to the air for their mating dances at night, dimly and softly glowing like Earth's fireflies or lightning bugs. These tiny little bugs float through the air, flitting about as their bodies pulse with light. The Fairy Lights come in a multitude of colors from red to purple, turning the night into soft rainbows of light. They make their triumphant reappearance in two locations: the botanical gardens and the green belt that grew up where the old wall used to be. Their beautiful displays start once the sun goes down and stop at sunrise, and natives are delighting in their return by taking walks among them.
If offworlders follow suit, they'll notice that the Fairy Lights are attracted to those who come in pairs or more, especially those who engage in sustained positive contact with each other while among them. The Fairy Lights seem to enjoy it when people are touching and will land upon them, one of each color until a rainbow has formed - usually in a crown around the head. Once the rainbow crown of Fairy Lights is complete, that character will feel a pleasant calmness and a feeling of peace and happiness wash over them. For as long as you and your partner(s) are in contact, the Fairy Lights will stay and so will the peace they confer. Once contact is broken, one by one the little insects will fly away, off to find a new perch.

The first few gardenia and plum blossom petals Kyoko coughed up weren't so bad--super weird, obviously, but pretty harmless all things considered. Not a huge obstacle to her life! These odd little Havenwell episodes always passed eventually, and something so small was probably something she could just wait out, right?
A
When the flowers kept coming, shades of rich crimson and buttery yellow joining the mix, well. That was concerning. A little inconvenient. Kyoko did her best to deal with it, though; you might catch her pausing, maybe even in the middle of a conversation with you, and hastily chewing up a mouthful and gulping it down.
B
Or maybe, after she caught wind that sharing true personal facts could ease the effects, she'd approach you suddenly, an intense look in her eye. It didn't matter whether the two of you were at Rawna's temple, or Insomnia 2.0 during one of her shifts, or even just out on the street. It might not even matter if she knew you!
"Hey, um--excuse me--" Don't mind the rose petals fluttering from her mouth, she just wanted to talk real quick!
III
But nothing was quite enough.
Nothing she was willing to do, anyway--nothing that wasn't totally out of the question. The idea had been there all along, the suspicion of what might finally end her affliction for good; it had started as a small twist in the pit of her stomach, and had only cinched tighter with each new flood of white and pink and yellow and deep red.
This was what brought her to the outskirts of town, where she could tuck herself quietly under a tree. The pretty bugs wouldn't pay her much mind while she was alone, but that was okay. Kyoko could still admire them from a distance, where nobody had to deal with her wet eyes, or the mess surrounding her.

So, when the opportunity to talk to her alone presents itself, just the two of them, he jumps right for it.
"Kyoko, hang on...!" Wait for him! Don't leave the house just yet!

It was true that she had been trying very hard to minimize the damage. It wasn't like she was actively avoiding Kai completely. Shinji either! Just... avoiding them enough for concern. Making up excuses at an alarming enough rate. It was worrying enough on its own, but on top of that they'd made a promise. This counted, Kai was sure.
So when she didn't come home, he went to find her instead.
He didn't expect to find her all the way out here though, or that things would like quite like this. Kai didn't know what to do with this, or the way it made his chest ache. All he did for now was take a quiet seat at the other side of the tree.

So clearly, no one needed to know.
Tony was in the kitchen cleaning up after the bar was mostly closed when his newest employee found him. He'd just had an unfortunate coughing fit, so as he turned around at her strangely urgent greeting, she might catch sight of some springs of rosemary and rue in the sink in front of him. He watched with alarm as rose petals were falling out of her mouth and he awkwardly had to cough and spit a small yellow flower (known as Cinquefoil if she knew her flowers) out too before he could give her his full attention.
"Kyoko? What's wrong?" He asked. He grabbed a glass and quickly filled it with water for her.

Shinji Ikari | OTA
Well, well, well. The feeling of coughing something out of his lungs is a strangely familiar one, even if it's been long enough to have it come as a surprise. It's distinctly unpleasant, but not totally strange, either.
Oh. These are flower... petals? Well then.
His first thought is that they may have just been something from his garden, but the spindly red petals aren't anything like the stuff he's growing. Any panic he may have felt over it is subdued by the knowledge that this isn't something happening to just him, at least, and it's a pretty infrequent phenomena for him. Just a few petals here and there, no big deal. What really seems to keep them at bay is keeping himself busy, he's found.
The garden beds at his house? Nice and tidy. The communal gardens in the Marshes? Why not make sure they're healthy too, so long as he doesn't have any work left to do at his own. Rawna's temple? Spick and span. Out of things to do? Maybe he'll just take a walk around the city with his headphones in, blasting some music in an attempt to drown out his own thoughts for a while, lest those petals start creeping their way into his breath again.
Of course, as things go on, and the month brings different stresses to his social circle, who knows how well he'll be able to keep his own creeping thoughts and coughs under control.
III
Some respite at the very edge of the city limits can be calming in its own way too, even if he should happen upon the Fairy Lights while on his own. He doesn't necessarily need to lure them in with another person's touch in order to just... watch, and admire. Find some kind of comfort in simply looking. How long had it been since he'd seen a sight quite like this?
"It's so pretty..."

Kai was right there behind him after all, arms looped loosely around his middle and chin propped right there on his chin to take in the sights. It was an enchanting sight all on its own, but that didn't mean Kai wasn't going to sneak in a cozy moment. A nice, quiet moment of calm in the face of that distinct uptick in Busy Shinji had been. Don't think he didn't notice.

He lived right next to the temple (which was odd, given neither he nor Gladio were patrons of the god, but whatever) so he'd spotted the kid pass by a couple times over the last week or so. He'd only been living in his new house since the start of the month, so it hadn't been too long for him to really know who was doing what, but that didn't stop him from sounding like he knew everything.
"They look nice." He held out bottle of fizzy lemonade with a warm smile.

With a soft sigh, she stood from her perch on her bed, so she could slip out and pad quietly down the hall to the kitchen. Breakfast wasn't going to make up for anything she'd done, but if she was going to share a meal with the people she'd hurt anyway, she ought to at least do the work. Maybe she would even be composed by the time she had to see them.
Breakfast, the wildest card of them all.

noctis | ota | rawna
[Those who are hanging out with Noctis might notice his new habit of clearing his throat a lot. He tries to be subtle about it, though it gets harder over time. Eventually, though, a full cough will get to him, and what he coughs into his hand is, of course... flower petals. The type of petals (or indeed whole flowers if he lets it go for too long) are:
a) white chrysanthemum, symbolizing grief and a royal lineage in Lucis,
b) red spider lily, symbolizing death, or
c) bluebell, symbolizing gratitude.
Regardless of the colour of the flower, Noctis will pause in whatever he happens to be doing and stare down at it for a long moment, baffled.]
Wh-what the hell?
[Cough, cough, there goes another one.]
( ii: uproot )
Hey. Are you okay?
[The question comes entirely unprompted from Noctis. Maybe you've been hanging out. Maybe you're just passing by. Maybe you've never met and you look kind of bummed as you cross the street. Regardless, he's asking. Do you need a hug?]
( iii: thousand hugs )
[As soon as Noctis hears about the fairy lights, of course he's going. He loves to watch fireflies, and even if they might be tangentially tied with some very old trauma, that hasn't ruined the wonder of them for him. He can be found sitting relaxed in the grass watching them at a distance at either of the locations, just quietly enjoying the light show.]
( iv: wildcard )
[For anything that doesn't fit, a general month catch-all, or combined prompts/one of your own.]
((please pick the flower colour if you pick prompt 1! if none is given i'll either RNG or default to bluebell. <3 for more details, check out his plotting comment.))
iv. custom blend
Luckily for Era, sitting amongst the multicoloured fireflies talks no energy at all, and what she expended to reach the greenery they flocked to is slowly recovered as she lays upon the grass with her aetherial companion at her side and her dream guide — the newly shifted (and colourful) 'Narangerel' — sprawled along her collarbone, keeping Era warm just as she always did in her prior form. It's helpful, because Era still finds herself very cold far too easily since the Untempering, and Topaz Carbuncle doesn't offer the same radiant warmth that Ruby Carbuncle does.
It is Narangerel that notices Noctis first, startling Era out of her half-doze with the excited wagging of her fluffy tail tickling her neck.
"Little brother!" The polecat calls out, delighted, in a voice both young and ancient. Narangerel speaks in that same ethereal, musical language Era's soul used leading up to the final battle with Hades. She doesn't more from Era's chest, but she does stand on her haunches to peer at him from a distance (★). Era, for her part, just swats the creature and wishes she could have the quieter, calmer Echo back.

Ardyn | ota | Ainea
[The sudden urge to cough was a familiar feeling to Ardyn, and one that set him on edge immediately whenever that odd tickle in his throat presented itself. Surely it couldn't be that, he'd long since been immune to his own corruption. But he couldn't very well get sick in general either, so what could possibly be the problem?]
[Whatever it was, he immediately reacted the only way that felt logical to someone afraid beyond the capacity for rational thought: he suppressed it as hard as he possibly could, for as long as he could. A very slight and quiet cough here and there, maybe, but Ardyn did all he could to act like everything was normal until he could figure out what was going on.]
[And if there were perhaps the occasional stray yellow, pale pink, or purple petals wherever he'd been lately, that was probably an unrelated thing.]
[(pick your poison:
yellow marigolds - jealousy
cyclamen - resignation and goodbye
cosmos - joy, harmony
cyclamen may require some cw's for suicidal ideation if he talks to close cr with it, will be tagged as necessary)]
[ii; unwind your tight rope just hear me out; uproot (ohma)]
[In between dealing with fits of flower-based coughing, Ardyn might occasionally approach if he saw anyone out an about, with a greeting followed by a simple question:]
What might you be doing today?
[Or, if you're exceptionally unfortunate, he would offer a small wave and a sudden nonsequitur:]
Did you know malboro vines are edible, but only after being boiled for twelve hours? They taste utterly foul, but boiling them for that long takes care of all the poison.
[well, DID you know that?]
[iii; so I can embrace you tight; fairy lights]
[When not coughing up flowers or acting extremely weird, Ardyn chose to take a long and peaceful evening walk in the botanical gardens, watching the fairy lights with a knife-less tonberry clinging to his leg nearly every step of the way.]
...You're liable to make me trip, you realize.
[Which his companion took as a cue to climb up his dark and terrible master like a green daemonic kitten, settling in his arms as though it owned the place.]
Suit yourself, then. At least I won't fall over this way.

Vianca | Pikmin [ohma] (ota)
The little book shop had still sat quietly in the shopping district for the last few months. While it had always been quiet, it seemed extra so recently. Very kind souls had kept it fresh and clean, letting its doors stay open so the solace of a comfortable place to cuddle and read continued on. It was just missing its very pink staple.
So maybe it'd be a surprise to see a little girl standing outside the shop, her hands and face pressed up gently to the big, sunny windows. She wasn't there all the time, but it was frequently enough and at different times of day. Each time she just quietly peered through the window, waited a while, and then left.
✿ ii. Feelin' Like a Dragon
Part of Vianca's window watching was to try and see who was in charge of the shop now. The other slightly more pressing part-- fueled by a desire she did not anticipate nor knew the origin of-- was that she knew that sitting right there on one of its shelves was a precious source of knowledge. Eventually it drove her to break in (?) to the shop to borrow The Book. She'd bring it back!
Did you just cough up a flower in her general vicinity? Are those petals falling behind your hand? Here she was at your side, gently tugging on your shirt to draw your attention downwards.
"Excuse me," she said in a whisper soft voice, holding up her Language of Flowers book, "do you need to know what that flower means? It might help."
✿ iii. Fairy Lights, Fairy Nights
Honestly it was way past Vianca's bedtime. Maybe she had just gone a little bit too far in her explorations of what had changed in town, now that she felt a little bit better about not instantly vanishing again. Maybe she was being the littlest secret hobo again. That was a secret. Shh.
If that was the case, a lush spot like the garden ring made for a lovely spot. It was warmer here, vibrant in a way a deep part of her hadn't known she'd missed. She'd never felt deeply in tune with her own flower nature, but when she stood out there among all those sparkling little creatures, it felt like she understood just a little bit better.
Of course it was also possible that she had just taken a seat near a small bush. If that led to her curling up next to it for a snooze, well. It was after her bedtime, after all.

x. Petals & Pages/ ii. Feelin' Like a Dragon
Today, he was coming on his own accord. The bar had been busy and the new house was too full of projects that needed to be done. He needed a break. Not only that, but he was fairly sure he remembered a particular book he needed to review on the shelves here.
He carried a small biscuit tin with him as he approached today and though it was unlikely this was the first time the small spy at the window had seen him, it was the first he'd noticed the pink haired girl.
"Would you care to come in?" He asked with a friendly smile, though visibly curious of the stranger too. "You aren't a fan of strawberry jam filled cookies are you?"

Katsuki Bakugou | My Hero Academia | OTA
[The first time it happens, Katsuki is "observing" the wall, which involves approaching it as he tries to get a better look. Something unpleasant hits his throat and he stops to cough, vivid oranges and red spilling out of his mouth like fire. There's a lingering pressure and tightness in his throat.
Fuck this place.
It gets worse as time passes. He knows it's probably temporary, which is partially why he stubbornly refuses to address it. Even as he goes into a coughing fit in the middle of public, purple hyacinths and a mix of other flowers spilling out. He despises it, the feeling of struggling to inhale, of something foreign in him, but at least it's flowers and not sludge. He won't fucking play along with it, cursing instead between each cough.]
F-fuck- you...
Here.
[Without preamble, Katsuki stands in front of the next person he sees, trying to hand them his grenadier bracers. Granted, it's a terrible idea if they don't know how to use his very explosive weapons, but he's feeling generous so he'll even give them a lesson on it.]
I can't always protect you. I want you to have these.
Rawna
[Katsuki's never been great at comforting people. He prefers action over words. But lately he's wanted to try, and when he wants something he goes for it, and he will succeed at comforting people, even if they're perfectly fine and don't need to be. Everyone has been acting weird lately anyway, it definitely hasn't been him, so he has to fix it. Which is why he looks at your character stoically, as if he can't figure out which expression means he's Concerned, but he's trying not to glare daggers at them. He even reaches out...
To try and awkwardly pat your character on the shoulder.]
What's wrong? You need me to kill someone?
Pretty cool...
[There's a moment of peace. Maybe this place isn't so terrible all the time.]
BUT I CAN DO WAY BETTER!!!!
[The brief quiet is ruined as Katsuki holds his palms out to fire small explosions off into the air, competing with the ethereal fairy lights.]
Let's see who's the strongest!

PROMPT III: 'Cause I'd Get A Thousand Hugs
She sits down at a rock or patch of green, looking up at the small little lights with a smile. For now, she will actually be quiet for once, looking up at the sky with a smile. It's moments like this Mina wishes all her friends were here, so she could share all of this with them. With a sighting at some nostalgia, she ends up leaning back and laying down
Anyone is welcome to join Mina if they wish to see the Fairy Lights with her - and naturally, partake in some contact with her! Feel free to approach and sit down. ]
Nico di Angelo | OTA
[His first thought upon coughing up a handful of flower petals is:
Oh god. I'm turning into a flower again.
[He can't identify the petals, even after, alarmingly, full flowers start to emerge. Call it a petulant unwillingness to learn anything about his stepmother's domain. Some of the petals are bright yellow. Some are a snowy white. Others, vivid red.
a. Red - dark thoughts
b. Yellow - rejection
c. White - death]
[ II : Ohma with a dash of Diacht]
[Nico has always been curious, though he stopped being the annoying kind of curious some years ago. Or so he had hoped.]
Do you play poker?
[ III ]
[The Faery Lights remind him of the fireflies that appear mid-summer at camp. It's...peaceful. Nico mostly keeps to himself, sitting mostly in the shadows of the newly recovered greenbelt. The atmosphere puts him in a good mood; he won't say no to company.]
[ wildcard ]
[Feel free to mix and match or make up your own thing.]

In any case, when she sees Nico, Mina quickly approaches ] Oh, it got to you too? [ she glances at the red petals, humming ] it's so weird...

Tony Stark | OTA
[Rosemary- remembrance
Marigolds- pain and grief
Cinquefoil- beloved daughter]
These days Tony's life had become pretty stable. He could most easily be found behind the bar of Insomnia 2.0. There was something very satisfying about serving drinks, listening to customers, managing his employees, and tending to the business that suited him in this new chapter of his life- for now, at least.
All would be perfect except for two things. The first being a very inconveniently timed but painful anniversary he was ignoring and not telling anyone about and the other, these really weird petals and sprigs of rosemary that he starting coughing up.
As the month continues, the episodes are getting worse. Enjoy catching him struggling with this or having a moment where he's staring off into space looking particularly sad in between his otherwise upbeat demeanor.
B) WILDCARD: Tony can also be found around town shopping for supplies, visiting VR cafes, reading at the P&P, training at the Arena, or stop by his new house (sans the garage for now).
B — June 20th!
Gaius was a simple enough delivery—he lived next door, after all. Regis, on the other hand, lived districts away. At first Era believed it would be good exercise for her recovery, opting to leave Peki behind and go by foot instead. She regretted this by the time she reached the city plaza, but was far too stubborn to give up.
A few blocks away from her destination Era is forced to duck into an alley and brace herself against the wall, her Carbuncle aggressively licking at her hands to try and keep her sweaty, trembling self awake. She soon slides down into a sitting position, resting her head between her knees and hoping the lightheadedness subsides quickly.

Dorothy Pratt | Fallen London | Ohma | OTA!
The sights she had seen in Lasai still loomed over Dot like a dark cloud. The normally upbeat and forthright reporter had been in uncharacteristically low spirits over the past month and a half (though she had done her best to attempt and appear otherwise.) The laudanum had run out but the nightmares persisted. While she had made friends here, she hesitated to impose on anyone with such heavy issues any more than she already had, and thusly she suffered in silence.
When the coughing fits started and petals began to fall out, small and yellow, she didn’t know what make of it. It was frightening and unusual, like some sort of consumptive potpourri. It was clearly the Gods’ doing, though, that much was certain, and thusly she was stubbornly prepared to wait it out.
You might catch her out for a stroll or perhaps, in an effort to maintain some sense of normalcy, she’ll have stopped you for an interview.
She coughs into her hand and casts the petals out behind her.
"What a waste of perfectly good flowers..." she mumbles, sounding tired and almost a little bitter.
[ Dot’s flowers are a mix of Bird’s-foot Trefoil (Revenge) and Rue (Regret) ]
IB. Waste not, want not (NETWORK POST)
[The excess of petals got her thinking… Ever the entrepreneur
(read: lush), she began devising ways to use them.]I’ve found that these petals add a nice flavor when infused into wine or brewed into tea.
If you’d like to make use of this nuisance and desire instruction on how to prepare your own or simply wish to try some, please feel free to stop by.
