♥ June (Dianir) Event Log

June (Dianir) Event Log
Ainea's time has ended and now Diacht's months have arrived. Dianir marks the beginning of the hot summer months with a rise in temperature as well as humidity. With each passing day, spring gives way to summer, and the natives of Havenwell are enjoying the blue skies along with the newly expanded barrier. With the most dangerous of the beasts gone thanks to offworlder help last month, researchers and conservationists head out on occasion into the newly opened areas to continue the work of cataloguing and preserving what they can find. Some take time to study the barrier and some just seem to enjoy being outside the walls for the first time in centuries. Meanwhile, the city within seems to have calmed from Ealom's excitement, settling into its usual routine with only a few…"hiccups."
❥ PROMPT I: Hana-hack-i

With the turning of the seasons, the weather warms up and Diacht's influence grows in strength. 'Tis the season to be honest with one another, because if you aren't, you may begin to feel a tickle in the back of your throat…
For those who have feelings repressed, secrets unaddressed, or maybe just won't confide in a friend when they're feeling depressed, the gods work in mysterious ways. Specifically, in the fact that the offworlders may find themselves coughing up flower petals. Whether petals of plantlife from Havenwell itself or another world entirely, the longer one goes without confessing their troubles or sentiments the more insistent their condition until they might even have trouble getting through a whole sentence without finding a corsage's worth stuck in their mouth. Speaking minor truths will lessen the effect a little at a time, while larger or more impactful ones will work to cure it completely.
While not painful or otherwise physically harmful, the affliction does feel awkward and very likely doesn't taste all that great. Not to mention it's going to be difficult to keep secrets when everyone can see you have a mouthful of flower.

❥ PROMPT II: Uproot of the Spirit

Those offworlders that have been present in Havenwell since the previous June may remember an outbreak of traits and desires not necessarily their own, reflecting the dominion of their associated god instead. With the return of the early summer season, so too do such urges begin to resurface--but not quite in the same fashion.
This time around, things are a bit different--adherents to one god may find themselves with any other god or gods' traits, with one or more applying at once, one and then another on different days, any multitude of combinations apart from those of the deity to which they belong. For example, one under Diacht may have the effects of Rawna one day and Ainea the next, or perhaps Ainea and Ohma both at once, but never contend with Diacht's influence. And while the previous year seemed to deal with the gods' animal natures, it seems this time things are a little different as people begin manifesting extreme versions of their gods' emotional domains.
Ohma: As the god of wisdom, Ohma's influence becomes a desperate and insistent need to exchange knowledge. The affected may ask friends and strangers all manner of questions, ranging from 'where did you get that shirt' to 'how do you like your eggs' and everything in between. In exchange, the affected also wish to share their own information on just about everything they know, whether the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow or the entire plot of a book they read that one time. They simply have to give and seek knowledge to and from whoever they can find.
Ainea: The influence of the god of compassion leads the affected to be almost aggressively kind. Complimenting every little thing those around them might say, do, wear--if it can be spoken kindly about, those under Ainea's influence will do so excessively and well past the point of obnoxious. So too might they feel a compulsion to give gifts to others--specifically, giving away the affected's own possessions. Once the effect wears off, one might even have to track down their new and old friends to get their more important things back...
Diacht: Honor and honesty being Diacht's domain, those affected by them will be incapable of lying. They will be compelled to not only speak the truth, but do so out of obligation no matter how awkward for them or the other party. Even if it means speaking a brutally honest opinion or divulging a carefully hidden secret, so long as the words are true to the affected speaker they will have the urge to share it. To tell a lie or general untruth will make them feel suddenly ill, dispelled only by speaking something truthful instead.
Rawna: Rawna's reasoning takes the forefront of their influence; anyone under their affect will be insistent upon hearing and soothing the emotional hurts of others. They are certain they need to be a listening ear or comforting shoulder to the absolute best of their abilities and beyond--that is to say, they will not only go out of their way to find others' problems, but potentially assume ones exist where they do not. Some dear friends haven't spoken in an entire day? Clearly they had a terrible fight, and it's up to Rawna's affected to fix it.

❥ PROMPT III: 'Cause I'd Get A Thousand Hugs

Yet another indication that the world is recovering is the reappearance of the Fairy Lights. As the weather turns warmer, these beautiful little insects take to the air for their mating dances at night, dimly and softly glowing like Earth's fireflies or lightning bugs. These tiny little bugs float through the air, flitting about as their bodies pulse with light. The Fairy Lights come in a multitude of colors from red to purple, turning the night into soft rainbows of light. They make their triumphant reappearance in two locations: the botanical gardens and the green belt that grew up where the old wall used to be. Their beautiful displays start once the sun goes down and stop at sunrise, and natives are delighting in their return by taking walks among them.
If offworlders follow suit, they'll notice that the Fairy Lights are attracted to those who come in pairs or more, especially those who engage in sustained positive contact with each other while among them. The Fairy Lights seem to enjoy it when people are touching and will land upon them, one of each color until a rainbow has formed - usually in a crown around the head. Once the rainbow crown of Fairy Lights is complete, that character will feel a pleasant calmness and a feeling of peace and happiness wash over them. For as long as you and your partner(s) are in contact, the Fairy Lights will stay and so will the peace they confer. Once contact is broken, one by one the little insects will fly away, off to find a new perch.

[ Have a boop with her finger. ]

I'd ask what's so cute about a nose, but I don't want you to feel obliged to write me a dissertation on it or something. [He gives the poked nose an idle scratch.] I'm just glad this isn't a real cough, or it wouldn't be so cute at all.
no subject
Although this does make her wonder: usually the world's shenanigans don't last too long, or there's some sort of solution to it. ]
How long has it been going on?
no subject
[It took some time to cough up a whole bouquet, though he's been avoiding getting into the finer details, mostly out of embarrassment. The most recent experience has him second-guessing his motives, however, so after a long pause he ducks his head, his smile fading.]
...I… had to tell Prompto. About the prophecy, and what happens to me in the future.
no subject
She turns her head, looking at him in surprise, then concern. She hadn't really asked if Prompto had known the truth or not, but expected that eventually Noctis would if he didn't already. And that, as his best friend, he'd let the other know. ]
How...did it go?
no subject
[He can't even fake a smile. There's no joy in this memory, feigned or otherwise.]
Prom's always been the most honest of all of us. [No shame in his feelings, always so earnest and genuine. Despite his claim back in Lucis of being a bundle of anxieties and hangups hiding behind a smile, Noctis has trusted him wholeheartedly from the very beginning and not once faltered from that, except when Izunia stole his face.] I'm such an asshole.
no subject
[ There's no need for him to smile, not when it's such a somber topic and not when he had to do something so difficult as to letting his best friend know. And, for Prompto, too, it must have been extraordinarily hard to hear the fate of his closest friend.
Pyra stops walking, turning to him so that she can give him a hug. While she may be of the opinion that it's better to let someone close know than not, that doesn't undo the impact of the revelation itself. ] There's no easy way to talk about something like that, is there?
no subject
There really isn't.
[In a morbid sort of sense, he's lucky he's only had to tell a couple of people. Visions or other versions of him had done the work for him for most of those who are aware of it. It does make him wonder, though- were the other Nocts that Prompto had been with in the fleet just as cowardly as he was, hiding it all that time, or had they not known either? He sort of envies them, the way he might envy his past self.]
That doesn't make it okay that I hid it, though. Lying by omission still sucks.
no subject
We all... try to tell others such things when we're ready, no more, no less... [ Hindsight might give them the wisdom to know that they should have told such things sooner, but their past selves can't be blamed for behaving in what they felt was best at the time-- especially if it's out of worry for causing distress in the other person. ]
You're sorry that it took so long, though. I think that-- I think that's something he can understand. [ There's no guidebook on how to tell your best friend you're going to die. ]
no subject
[Too kind, too forgiving. Noctis is grateful for that, in truth. He shoves enough blame onto his own shoulders, and despite the guilt he'd felt any time he did Prompto wrong somehow, he's always been gracious about letting Noct know that it's okay. Canceled plans due to royal stuff, dancing around state secrets any time it came up when they were spending time together... throwing him off a moving train. Every time, Prompto said it was okay. And now this, and... he'd only cried and wished for a better way. How did Noctis manage to get himself a friend that's been so great to him this whole time?]
Dunno if there's a way to be "ready" for this sort of thing. Maybe eventually, but... I'm a long ways from that. Except stuff keeps forcing my hand.
no subject
She pulls back from the embrace, and her hand cups his. ] Do you think him knowing will change anything?
[ ...And that's a fear, isn't it? That interactions might be melancholy or stressful. ] Well, maybe for a time it might, but... if it means that the two of you have become closer and spend more time with each other. I think that overall it's a good thing. [ Now that Prompto knows, how Prompto wants to interact with Noctis should be up to him. ]
no subject
I knew it was wrong, but... I guess I must've been scared of that happening. That something would change, and we couldn't go back to how we were before, because I had to open my big mouth and screw it up, again.
[He'd done that one the train, said horrible things to Prompto thinking he was Ardyn, and after they'd lost him - after Noct ruined everything and hurt him like that - he'd been so afraid that things between them were irreparable. Prompto had forgiven him though... so easily. Joked about it, smiled like everything could go back to normal. Nothing had given Noctis more comfort than that moment, especially after the hell that had been Gralea from start to finish.]
I trust him, though. I should've trusted him, I know him better than that. He's not the type to let this kind of thing stop him from doing what he wants.
[And for some inexplicable reason it seems that Prompto still wants to be his friend, so... Noctis won't question that. Not ever again.]
no subject
It's an unfortunate situation all around. ]
And what he wants to do... He's still your best friend, isn't he? [ She's just going to guess that, as well as try to bring him back to focus on what he has now.
What he has now is another friend that knows the truth and cares for him. And that friend now knows the truth, and can choose to continue being his friend. Pyra smiles at him, keeping her voice as reassuring as possible. ]
As... late as the you telling him this might have been, it's done. And you did it. And together, you can continue to have what you have here.
no subject
[Him, Ignis, Gladio, and Prompto. They were meant to face the worst that any world had to offer together, not split and carrying secrets. That's what Cid meant, when he called them brothers, sharing one anothers' burdens, relying on their collective strength. Now it's all out in the open: what the future holds, who knows of it, how they found out. And maybe there's nothing to be done to change it, but at least none of them are alone with that knowledge.
Tentatively he looks up, free hand lifting to close around hers so all four are entwined. This time he does smile back, small and shaky but not forced.]
...A-anyway, that's what the spider lily was for. And once I told him, I stopped coughing around him, so...
no subject
Pyra swings their clasped hands between them. Then, she simply states: ]
I'm proud of you for talking to him.
[ They have to celebrate each other. She knows what he had to talk about was difficult, but he did it, and... that's something to compliment. ]
no subject
[It isn't nothing, of course; her words mean a great deal, especially since he's not sure he can be proud of himself for it yet. Hard to feel good about any of it when Prompto's hurting. It was going to come out eventually, so... maybe it's better that it came out on (in part) his terms. It could've been last month, where he instead witnessed it firsthand.
Giving her hands another squeeze, he bumps his forehead to hers.]
We should keep moving... I don't want you to miss the show. It's pretty cool.
no subject
[ And so they make their way towards the belt of green that's bloomed where the old wall used to be. Solitary like-fireflies light up their path here and there, signaling that they're getting closer. Soon those individual lights turn into a trail, bread-crumb like lights that flicker and buzz, a few of them dancing around their heads before they move on, while one manages to perch upon Noctis, and another on her head. Like a stream into a delta, the luminescent insects lead them to the main event. ]
Noct, look.
[ She calls attention to the one firefly that's perched on his head, its wings stretching lazily as if waiting for more to join. ] I think it likes you.
no subject
Speak for yourself. Maybe they think you're a giant firefly.
[She does have her own little glowspots... more than the bracelet on his wrist, for sure.]
no subject
Her gaze lowers from the light perched upon his head to meet his gaze, and she smiles at him as she sees the lights hovering above her own head as they appear to dance in his eyes. Why must he always be so beautiful? In night or day, morning or evening. ]
Although... I think you'd be the brightest light of them all.
no subject
[He likes that she likes him, in other words.
Fireflies can often be shy, but whatever is drawing them to the pair is enough to get the one he's inviting to crawl onto his hand, wings fluttering lazily as it settles.]
Surprisingly friendly little guys. Though there's no denying they've got good taste.
no subject
It doesn't take long for another firefly to approach them, and this one lands upon her finger. ]
It's incredible that they've appeared. [ A year ago, she's not sure they would have. ] I wonder... just how long it's been for them, too. Maybe they've been hibernating in the ground this entire time.
no subject
[There's something kind and nostalgic about that, not just because of certain similarities to his own world (which he wisely dances away from before it can spoil his mood). Like the apocalypse is just a winter for them, something to sleep through until spring comes back.]
Kinda like the birds from a few months back- where'd they come from? And where'd they go? Did the world make them appear out of nowhere, or were they waiting for this, too?
