❥ Speaking of Wall Breaking...

The ghosts in town sure are weird, huh? But they're settling down, as the month draws to a close. They're becoming less anxious and random, their behaviour growing sort of… focused. As time passes some of them begin to develop features. They can interact with the world more consistently. You can… hear their voice.

And then suddenly they are people, real and physical and just as confused to be here as you are. They could be anyone, from your world, someone else's world, a place you've never heard of… some of them could even be you, from a different universe, a different timeline, an unknown reality. What does all this mean?

IT'S FOURTH WALL, Y'ALL. Tell your friends, people interested in apping or just playing around in the setting, anybody! Time to break the wall down and have some fun.

This post serves as a replacement for the usual Test Drive Meme, in order to consolidate the chaos a bit. Though it is being posted now, timeline-wise, this shift will occur ONLY during the weekend prior to applications opening: October 30th to November 2nd, after which point characters will either disappear or become permanent residents via the application process. This also means that the rest of the event effects will have worn off, and characters will be their normal selves through the duration of this prompt.

Some ground rules for the 4th Wall event:

For characters/accounts not in-game:

• a character does not have to meet application qualifications to post to the 4th Wall Event, except in cases where there is an intent to apply when applications open. Duplicates, CRAU, AU, etc. are permitted for the event.
  
• we do ask that crack shenanigans are reasonably limited, game rules are followed, and that the event involve characters only, not players or real people.
  
• anyone can toplevel! It'll be a free for all. Go wild, have fun.
  
• characters will be given a temporary, low-tech communicator for the duration of the event with limited network access, due to limited availability of the real deal.
  
• you will not arrive with any items/companions beyond the clothes that you wear
  
• check out the Setting or FAQ pages for location details! Also, have a look at the October event log, to see what else is going on these days.

For characters/accounts currently in-game:

• players can decide for themselves at the event's conclusion whether or not memories of certain visitors remain, and to what extent; memories could become fuzzy, faces or communication obscured, they could disappear entirely, or they can remain fully intact whether the person apps into the game or not.
  
• network communications with 4th Wall visitors that don't (or can't) app in will be wiped, with the locals citing a data error related to the older communicators being used. Technology can be unpredictable, huh!
  
• any communication exchanges that you WANT to keep can remain with some discretion; for example, if a spouse visits and you happen to take a selfie with them, and they do not (or cannot) app but having that photo of them would give you comfort, feel free to keep it.
  
• Similar to the TDM, 4th wall threads cannot be used for AC or AC Reward purposes unless it is between characters already in-game.

[ Words? The opinions of others? Trivial things. These don't matter to Sephiroth, and it shows in his completely relaxed body language. As if he doesn't have a care in the world. ]

It seems I can answer my own question with a resounding yes.

[superstring]

You talk big for someone who is nothing more than worthless trash.

[That fist she made earlier, energy builds around it, crackling with what almost looks like an electric current. She'll raise her hand towards his chest, finally opening palm out releasing the energy to try to blast him backwards and hopefully out of her way.

It's really a low-level move because he's clearly so beneath her that she doesn't need to use anything close to her full power. He just needs to go away.]

[silversoldier]

[ Sephiroth brings his hand up to hers at the same instant and very simply takes the spell. He can feel the jolt down his arm, but little else. ]

Is that the best you could do? Pathetic.

[ He could cast his any number of fire spells back at her, but such would be beneath him when dealing with someone so obviously weak. ]

[superstring]

No.

[Ah, okay. So he can take some power. That still means very little. But fine. She hadn't intended to destroy anything ... at the moment at least. But this overly arrogant, fool --

Ugh. He's annoying. That's what he is.

This time her whole body starts to glow with a golden light. The ground she's standing seems to crack beneath her. For a moment power explodes forth threatening to crumble anything in it's path.

Of course it only lasts a very brief moment before simply dissipating. Sailor Moon's voice echoing through her mind. There's a drawn out sigh.]

This isn't worth it.

[silversoldier]

[ Sephiroth's hand remains in front of him. He is ready to materialize Masamune in an instant should it be necessary but it proves not to be and this is somehow...disappointing. In truth, he wouldn't mind expending some of his pent up energy. It isn't exactly like he wants to be around Noctis right now. Not after everything that happened this month. He needs time to think. ]

A wise decision.

[ His hand drops to his side. Sephiroth inclines his head and as if that little display of hers has changed things somehow: ]

You must be new here.

[superstring]

[She scoffs lightly. If only he knew the extent of her power. But there is really no point into killing him other than satisfaction. And even that wouldn't change anything.

Right now everything is far too confusing and she isn't sure where she stands anymore.]

Clearly. What exactly is this place?

[silversoldier]

Alleyn, a planet in need of saving. Congratulations on being chosen by the gods for the purpose.

[ Sephiroth's expression does not change, but his tone is extremely dry. ]

[superstring]

They made the wrong choice.

[Though it doesn't seem like he's too happy about it. She's not too happy about it either.

Is this some sort of sign for her to try and make amends for everything she's done? Did the Cauldron send her to a new world to protect? So many questions.]

[silversoldier]

As they so often do.

[ And one day it is going to lead to their destruction, if not by his hand then by someone else's. ]

[superstring]

[Well, this whole thing went from aggressive to just weird. He's still in her way ... not that she had any particular place to go to anyway. But that's not the point.]

I take it you are also from somewhere else.

[Since he doesn't seem to happy about anything ...]

[silversoldier]

Yes. I, too, was kidnapped by these inept beings. As were we all.

[ Sephiroth has never been one to sugarcoat things and he doesn't here either. He doesn't offer too much more information though. He isn't here to hold her hand. She will understand soon enough. ]

[superstring]

I see. And you have found no escape.

[That isn't a question. It's a statement or rather an assumption. She doesn't need him to guide her through all of this. She can figure out things for herself.

So far he's just been the only one stubborn enough to be in her way.]

[silversoldier]

As of yet, no.

[ In truth, Sephiroth has done little else since he arrived. He has amazing focus. It will just take time. ]

[superstring]

Then you are of little use to me.

[Maybe. He has been here longer and he did block her attack. It wasn't much of one but it'd still be enough to knock away most humans.]

[silversoldier]

[ Sephiroth doesn't react to this. At all. In truth, he'd been attempting niceties for a very specific reason. But other people are tiresome and she is no exception. ]

Hm.

[ With total disregard, as though he's the one who has decided she is useless, he calmly walks past her and makes to be on his way. ]

[superstring]

[People certainly are. And she fully agrees especially where he is concerned. He's irritating and tiresome and why is she even still putting up with this.

Also why is she taking a step back, fading from view only to reappear directly in front of him.]

That does not mean this conversation is over.

[silversoldier]

Hanging on my every word already? [ Sephiroth teleports just behind her so that they are back to back because two can play that game. ] A new record.

[ It's also a subtle insult, him showing her his back. ]

[superstring]

[She turns her head over her shoulder at him. So he can teleport. My he's just full of surprises.]

There's someone like you on every planet. Mistaking their own over abundance of ego for self-confidence when they have little to show for it. They all fall like fragile, worthless, nothings.

I admit you know more about this place than me, but it's a wonderful how you let so many simple actions -- such as my words -- go straight to your head.

[silversoldier]

You do like the sound of your own voice, don't you?

[ Sephiroth came here to get away from this kind of thing, so why has it seemingly followed him? He moves to walk away again, unbothered by anything she has said but unwilling to waste more of his time on her. Except-- ]

There is no one else like me.

[ Sephiroth's feet still once more with the admission because this is his real problem, the one Rawna so recently brought to glaring light. What he needs...what he should be doing...is finding more people people to fight. Not just Noctis. He doubts anyone else will satisfy, but that is an entirely different problem.

With all that on his mind, Sephiroth turns slightly to regard her over his shoulder with a cool gaze. Was that earlier display just for show, or...? ]

[superstring]

You're hardly unique. You don't even have the light of a star.

[She turns to face him. Okay she doesn't know if that second part is true. It's hard to tell these things here.

But it's very rare for a man to have power comparable to a Sailor Soldier. There are a few exceptions she's seen (the Golden crystal of Earth for example) ... but this is more likely someone with an above-average star seed ... some power and just a really massive ego.]

[silversoldier]

[ Sephiroth considers her for a second as she continues to drone on--

--and decides that she probably isn't worth it if he has to put up with this all the time, which seems very likely. It isn't out of the realm of possibility, but he will pursue others before returning to the idea of her.

At least Noctis is pleasant to be around. Genesis can be counted on to put Loveless aside sometimes and even Zack, as guileless as he is, has a way of sneaking past Sephiroth's guard. She is nothing like any of them.

Overall, Sephiroth is not impressed, and this shows in the fact he starts wandering off without a word again. ]

[superstring]

[Again so dismissive. She raises a hand towards the sky. A small yellow orb of energy forms on the tip of her finger before shooting off into the sky. With a downward sweep of her arm, lightning strikes the ground in front of him.

Not close enough to hit him, but enough to make a point. She actually considered out right striking him, but that would prove that he's getting to her and she can't have that.]

Do you often run away at the moment inconvenience strikes?

[silversoldier]

[ Sephiroth doesn't so much as flinch at the non-issue. What he does do is elevate her potential in his own mind by a fraction. That and pause for a moment.

Pause and turn.

He regards her for a moment of clear and silent appraisal before approaching her with slow and measured steps. Sephiroth doesn't stop until he is practically on top of her, his long silver hair trailing between their bodies almost close enough for her to touch. Vibrant green eyes meet her own, though he remains cool and expressionless. ]

Well? You have my attention which you so badly wanted.

[superstring]

[Galaxia does not back away at his approach regardless of how close he gets. Her eyes trail up to meet his gaze, only now noting the fierce intensity of his eyes. Green and like that of a Mauian though he hardly seems like someone from that world.

Her expression also remains cool and collected with perhaps a small hint of a smirk. She did get him to turn around after all. Though the idea that she's somehow clamoring for his attention is laughable.

Amazingly enough this whole interaction has managed to off set her earlier foul mood. He is, at least, something of a distraction.]

Consider it curiosity. What planet do you call home?

[silversoldier]

[ Sephiroth is so used to people clamoring for his attention. Demanding things of him. Asking him questions. He sees nothing different here, only the place. Hmm...and perhaps her eyes. He notices their unique red color. ]

Gaia. And?

[ She'll learn, just as everyone does, that he is not the freest with information. ]
