September Intro Mingle Log
Welcome to Hugtopia, and to the city of Havenwell. This mingle is meant for new arrivals to get settled and meet the other inhabitants. New characters should be the only top-levels but everyone should feel free to tag around and make new friends. Who knows, you may find that Perfect Hug in here. You can use the prompts here, or create a wildcard of your own.

ICly, this takes place from the 2nd to the 16th and then we'll have a shiny new event post up for you all soon after that date range. The prompts below are optional, but are a way to get you started if you wish. To help you create your own prompts, please take a look through our Settings and FAQ. Click on each prompt's title to see the text. If you have any questions, feel free to direct them to the FAQ or to the Mod Question thread below.

❥ PROMPT I: Awakening

When you awaken, you're in the last outfit you remember wearing, three of your belongings laid nearby or your animal friend curled up by you, waking as you do. It's not the most comfortable place to sleep, a stone slab, but once you're awake, a humanoid-looking robot comes in and explains you're in Havenwell and leads you out of the room and into the main portion of the temple where a welcoming committee of similarly humanoid-looking robots hand over a clear smartphone-sized tablet, some starting funds, and explain their dilemma. Then they release you into Havenwell to pick your new home from free housing in the city and give you the chance to settle. It might be a bit disorienting, but thankfully there seem to be a lot of robots and even some non-robots around. Maybe ask them for help?

❥ PROMPT II: Buddy System

With all the changes going on, it might be hard to be a new arrival to Havenwell. The natives understand! Sort of. When some new arrivals begin to appear at the temples, receive the welcome speech, get their communicators and the simple map of the city, they get taken to the front of the temple by a helpful robotic priest. Rather than turn the newcomers loose right away, they pull someone seemingly at random off the street and push the two people together with a cheerful, "Here's your guide to Havenwell! It's dangerous to go alone, so be buddies!" before going back inside.

They try to place a new arrival with one of those who previously arrived, but who can keep track of all that, right? Characters may find themselves thrown together with an actual veteran or with another new arrival who only came here a day or even just an hour before them! Good luck helping each other out, offworlders, and don't lose your buddy!

❥ PROMPT III: Weather Wildcard

a vertical slice of several different weather conditions, from sunny to storms

Havenwell's weather is generally so well controlled, with beautiful blue skies and temperate climes that it's hard to remember that there's a whole world out there that might not be so nice. Every so often, however, the controls break and something not so nice and temperate comes through. Pockets of unpleasant weather happens all over the city at random intervals and new arrivals might find themselves and others caught without warning. Is that a snowstorm with green snow? Sure is. A windstorm that only seems to affect three streets? Yup. Did a deluge of rain just pour the equivalent of an Olympic sized swimming pool of water on you? Uh-huh, sure did. A deep cold fog that suddenly rolls in and blankets your entire area? Yeeaaah... hopefully there's someone around to help you get about and find shelter or just dry off and get away from it all. Good luck, offworlder.

[ Such a cute sight. Not wanting to be the only one left out, Harmony returns to her place on Todoroki's shoulder. ]

I haven't. [ He glances towards the houses as well, contemplative. ] That might be a good idea. Let's take a look at them first.

It seems like a peaceful neighborhood, but don't let your guard down just yet.

[With that, she leads the way to a random house. While it seems unoccupied enough, Momo still knocks first before trying the doorknob. Of course it's not locked. Peeking her head in, she calls out.]

Hello...? We're sorry for intruding.

[She lets a few seconds pass but there's no response. She turns back to him.]

Should we just go in?

Of course.

[ So far there hasn't been much cause for alarm in this world. Nothing immediate or life threatening, at least. Although that doesn't mean they shouldn't be mindful.

He peers in as she does, then nodding. ]

We can. It doesn't seem occupied or lived in at all from here.

[ No personal effects or anything. Everything seems almost too clean as well. ]

[In we go, then! Still a bit wary, Momo wanders about to check the rest of house. Part of this makes her a bit uneasy, like she's somewhat trespassing. Anyhow, it seems furnished enough to be occupied right away. And while it's not the most sophisticated dwelling, one feature does make her raise an eyebrow in surprise.]

Four rooms... My, how generous.

[With everything seemingly acceptable...]

Do you want it? I can check next door for my own.

[ A momentary stray thought, while comical to others, has him idly mourning the loss of his apartment in Verens, which he had worked on for quite some time in personalizing. It's the least of his concern, but the effort had been spent. ]

Considering what's needed from this world, it kind of makes sense.

[ Staying close, physical contact and such. Todoroki pauses in consideration again. What he asks just feels natural, although he already can predict the way Momo may react: ]

. . . Would you be opposed to living together?

[Oh, Shouto... Have some sense of wonder.]

I see. More pragmatic than generous then, if so.

[As for his question, sure it's not completely unexpected. What does catch her off guard is how directly he puts up the offer. So casual. When will she get used to that?]

Living together... B-But that would mean I'd stay here all the time! And we'd have to share commodities— facilities, too!

[She says, like this is not obvious information. Still, it's not like she can see any true disadvantages with the offer. It's logical to share resources; safer too to be close together should anything happen. It's not like she has to make a big deal out of it. Like the rooms, it's just... pragmatic.]

I'm not opposed to it, of course... But are you sure you won't mind sharing a place with me?

[There may be a slight emphasis on the 'me' part. She is, after all, a Girl.]

[ He does!

Casual, yes, but at least there is definitely also a logical reason to it. Apart from, well, just the fact that he honestly likes the idea of doing so. (Helping her to calm her if she has any nightmares would be much easier, too, right?) ]

It would be like a smaller version of the dorms.

[ . . . No, Shouto, it wouldn't. He continues before she can debate that, once more being plain and honest. ]

I'm sure. Since it's you, I don't mind. [ A slight though wry smile. ] Do you really think I would make the suggestion if I didn't mean it? And besides, Harmony, Yuki, and Rio really like having you around as well.

T-That's right! A smaller version of the dorms, how accurately put! [No...] And of course, I feel the same...! It's you, so it'll be fine. I mean, to be honest, more than fine— [Geez.] That is, I trust you'd be a good housemate. A responsible one!

[Nailed it. Also, at some point, they should probably stop using his pets are scapegoat as to why exactly they prefer to stick close together. Today won't be that day, apparently. She chuckles at that last statement.]

I'm very honored to hear I've won their affection, then. Besides, Yuki and I have already bonded over terrible weather just hours ago. I'd be disheartened if we'd have to separate after all that adventure.

[That matter now settled, she looks around the house again. Her smile is a bit melancholy yet, somehow, hopeful as well.]

I'm not sure how long we'd have to stay this time, but... we should be fine, right?

[ . . . Now she's just rambling like Midoriya. Except it's much cuter, compared to how ridiculous his friend's could get. Again with the amusement, though sincere. ]

I'm positive that you'll be a good housemate as well.

[ It'll be a new experience, and frankly one that Todoroki might be more than willing towards. As for "using" Harmony, Rio, and Yuki, well. . . it works, right? Not that they're the sole reason for both he and Momo to spend time together. ]

Mm. [ Her hope is a bit contagious. ] We will. There won't be a reason to feel lonely this time.

[And that's really the crux of the matter, isn't it? If lost time at home isn't going to be of any concern—considering when they return, they'll simply return to when they left off—then the only true issue would be homesickness. And if you have company, well. Maybe it's not so bad. This realization and their agreement overall has her in high spirits.

Conclusion: the rambling isn't quite done yet.]

Right then! I can take the room right over there and you can take the one opposite to it. I'm not sure what we should do about the spare rooms, however... In the off chance that anyone else that we know comes, we should at least have a room vacant for them. Oh! But of course our pets can use the other one. [Yes, she said ours. Shhh. ] I'll draft us a schedule of who does what chores for each day, so we can be organized about it. We may still be lacking resources for now, but I'm hoping we can decorate a bit eventually—

Ah! It really is like in the dorms...! [Still no, but she's very happy nevertheless.]

[ The longer Momo goes on for, the closer he is to laughing. Or maybe facepalming. (It could be both). He's able to find somewhere to begin, quelling any amusement from becoming too obvious. ]

Setting up a room for the three of them sounds like a nice idea. It shouldn't take very much.

[ There's quite a bit more space compared to his apartment in Verens.

. . . Okay, never mind. He can't help but smirk a little, wry yet again. ]

We don't necessarily need to map out chores, Momo. I think we're both responsible enough to stay on top of keeping the house clean and in good shape. We can still decorate and such, though.

[ They can make it a home. ]

I'm just sorry we had to leave all of their toys back at Empatheias. I know most of them were gifts to you, too, so...

[Sure they're just things at the end of the day, but Momo recognizes the sentimental value they probably hold. As for the other matter—]

I don't doubt that, of course! But, you know— [She fiddles at her bag's straps, her voice turning into an almost defensive mumble.] I just thought having a chart with our names on it would be kind of cute...

[Organization is very cute, okay.]

T-That aside...! Do you think we'd be needing anything else? Once I replenish myself with enough food, I suppose I can create some essential items for us. Spare clothing, for one.

I think they'll be all right. We can get them situated, as we do, ourselves.

[ Sentimental, yes, but at the least he still has his memories of them. Quite a few have connections with his birthday, which is one experience he had in Empatheias that he won't be forgetting out putting out of his mind any time soon. The whole of that day remains something he holds close to him. ]

A chart?

[ He blinks with the suggestion (admission?). Hmm. ]

I suppose that wouldn't be an issue.

[ A nod after that. ]

Taking care of the necessities should be our first task. Food and clothing, and we can find some food for our three as well.

[ . . . ]

Ah— Don't worry too much about immediately creating anything. We should get something to eat in general. I'm fine sleeping in my costume. We can get to work on everything tomorrow, as well as explore, once we've rested.

[Listen. She is very touched by his concern, but:]

You are most definitely not going to sleep in your hero costume! Do you want to sweat profusely in your sleep?

[No. She won't accept "I have a cooling Quirk" argument.]

I'll make you simple clothes to wear for the night. I can handle that much.

[ Holding his hands up in defeat(?) ]

It already has an element to help regulate my body temperature.

[ Yep. Still needed to state this!! ]

Make something for yourself, first, at least.

Oh.

[Gee, how convenient. :T]

W-Well! It still stands that you've been wearing it all day. Aren't you at least compelled to have a change of clothes?

[Stop... resisting... Also, no comment on that last part; this isn't about her.]

[ But why can't it be about her?? ]

. . . Yeah. I am.

[ Not that his costume is actually uncomfortable, but that's besides the point. ]

Although I think I want to bathe, first.

[Because!! Others first before herself!! Anyhow, she is happy he relented.]

Ah, good thinking! You should go ahead and I'll have a towel and clothes prepared by the time you're done.

[How domestic...]

[ Shush. ]

. . . Thank you, Momo.

[ He really is glad that she's here with him. ]
