♥ April (Lasai) Event Log

April (Lasai) Event Log
Lasai is a beautiful month. The weather is warmer, the sky is a breathtaking blue again, and with the flowers from Ainir growing nicely, the entire city of Havenwell just feels more alive with every breath. It's a time of renewal, of rebirth, of Ainea's greatest strength as her adherents open the temple gates to invite people and robots from all walks of life to enter and share together. What should be a joyous time, however, is suddenly interrupted as the earthquakes mount day by day through the start of Lasai. Those messages that people have been receiving since Nalom? It seems it's time for the gods to deliver on their promises.
❥ PROMPT I: The Wild Wild West (East, South and North)

As Ainir gives way to Lasai, one morning the earthquakes, which had been growing more frequent again, suddenly mount in their intensity. The entire city is shaking and the native residents cower despite their faith in their gods' protection. The guards along the wall shout alarm and abandon their posts as the walls start to shift under the strain. When the last of them are safely away from the walls, the barrier and the wall itself quivers. The citizens cry out in alarm and fear until they realize that the walls aren't falling - they're moving. And they're moving further out. As everyone in Havenwell looks on, the walls and its surrounding barrier fluctuates and expands, sliding through the city streets as if on hidden tracks, avoiding buildings and ruins, pushing the toxic air and the storm further away. They finally come to rest and snap back into place, new walls rising from who knows where to fill in the gaps. The barrier strengthens and the earthquakes stop, and as the dust settles, a cheer rises from the citizens.
"Praise the gods! Praise the off-worlders!"
Among the din of their celebration, however, other cries start up among the newly incorporated ruins. Cries that sound like howls and screeches, and certainly do not sound human. Grab your weapons and steel yourselves, off-worlders, with the addition of this new space comes the need to clear it of anything potentially dangerous that got caught up in the expansion. Not all creatures you'll find are hostile, but some certainly are. Docile ones might just fetch a nice price from the Research Towers and the Conservatory if you can capture a mating pair.
OOC: These are the creatures you can encounter in the city as you go through to clear it. It's not an invasion level of infestation, as the majority of creatures will prefer to remain inside their known territory beyond the original barrier, but you will on occasion need to take up arms and fight. Next to their names are the frequency with which you can find them, ranging from common to extremely rare.

Next to their names are the frequency with which you can find them, ranging from common to extremely rare.
- Inky Black Spiders (common - hostile): These relatively small, black spider-like creatures have very basic melee attacks, using their fangs and their sharp legs to bite and claw at people. Those who were around in October when the wall broke will recognize them as the most common enemy back then. Their exoskeletons are hard and when they die, they smash into a black goo. They tend to travel in packs, using sheer numbers to overwhelm their prey.
- One-Eyed Lizard (uncommon - docile): An iridescent scaly purple and green lizard approximately 8 to 10cm in length from tip to tail. It has a single eye at the top of its head that can rotate to see 360 degrees around it. This creature's main defenses are its tough hide and a spine on the tip of its tail which it whips at predators to dissuade them from eating it. It's more likely to run than fight, however, and can usually be found sunbathing on exposed rock with its eye closed.
- "Bone Giraffe" (extremely rare - hostile): A nearly 20-foot tall, long-necked skeleton of a four-legged creature long dead with a single curved horn protruding from its skull and a sharp snout. It's usually found lying in a heap, as if it laid down and died that way. A black seven-petaled flower sometimes (but not always) grows from the skull and beneath the skeleton is an oily black film. Touching the oil slick activates the creature, which draws the oil up into the skeletal cage. Its main attacks are brute force, using its bony legs and neck to kick and slam against its prey, and its acid breath. It breathes a black fume that sizzles and burns anything it touches.
- Rive Talon (rare - hostile - medium): In the past these creatures may have been canines of some form, now they seem to have melded with the detritus of the fallen buildings and creatures of the landscape. Extra spikes, ridges, and protrusions extend from its body at odd angles. Many of them are metal or stone, rather than bone. And some of the bones clearly were not originally its own. (Suggested by Sierra!)
- Outskirts Hare (uncommon - docile): A shy creature, roughly the size and shape of an earth hare, covered in fuzzy-looking, curly pink hair and cat-like whiskers. Normally quite timid, this creature's poor eyesight causes it to flee when it feels threatened, and relies largely on a sense of touch to navigate its surroundings. Contact with this creature's fur is markedly pleasant, but its skin discharges an oil that causes mild skin irritation on contact when it's nervous. Active mostly at night time. (Suggested by Mel!)
- Ansaurini (rare - annoying): a bipedal feathered bird with sharp claws and teeth good for chomping; some possess flight capabilities, but the majority are prone to a lazy waddle. Mostly harmless and deceptively unassuming until you turn your back- and suddenly it's run off with something it stole off your person! They are excellent at escaping, though they can be traced back to their hoard, and if their collection is raided they will make a lot of noise in protest. Just watch your back- they will try again until you leave their territory. Truly, a horrible thing.
❥ PROMPT II: Welcome to the (Urban) Jungle
Once the creatures are mostly taken care of and the newly revealed area is deemed safe enough to venture into, the city council will put out a call for those willing and able to assist the natives with a clean-up effort. The city outside the walls is badly damaged, left to the ravages of the time and the ever-present storm, which means clearing dust, debris, and flotsam is a high priority before people can begin to repair the new districts and salvage material or live there. Thick brown vines cover large parts of the city, grime from the storm is caked onto windows, rocks and scattered rotted bones and twisted metal can be found in roads and crashed through buildings. The atmosphere in this part of the city seems to mirror the decrepit state of the land, too, feeling heavier and grayer and more depressing than it has any right to be. Going out with people and helping together, taking breaks to lean against one another tends to help clear away any negativity that this land seems to bring to your thoughts, however. Since it's dangerous to go alone, be sure to take a friend.
The biggest concern is the vines, so natives offer to lend machetes to the offworlders to help the hack them away. The vines look brown and dead, the leaves withered and curled up. When characters hack into them, the vines release a puff of yellowish dust. Inhale the dust or get it anywhere near your face and over time, you'll begin to get sleepy - very sleepy. It's hard to keep your eyes open, no matter your resistance to poisons or magic, and eventually you'll find yourself falling asleep wherever you are. And once you're asleep? The vines start moving, crawling toward you at a snail's pace. Hopefully you did bring a friend because you'll need their touch to wake up and stay awake long enough to get away from the vines before they pull you deep within their grasp.

❥ PROMPT III: Take a Load Off

Not everyone can fight or clean or even wants to do it, so while those who are more suited to being on the front lines are off doing their thing, those who remain behind must begin the effort of preparing everything that people will need to live in these new areas. At the temples and in the main square, the priests have set up large rest areas with blankets and pillows, and are busily putting together repair kits for mechanics and explorers to use as they go through the ruins. Those who want a place to rest that doesn't require going all the way back to their homes might find these waystations more convenient.
At each, characters can find hot soups with chunks of hearty replicated breads and both hot and cold drinks available for any who wish it. They're trying to replicate pain medications and bandages for people who have been injured while exploring or fighting off the monsters who were unlucky enough to be left inside, and will ask you to try it if you're injured. Taking this medication might have some unintended side effects, however, like a feeling of euphoria or delusions of grandeur or even something as banal as turning your hair a shocking shade of chartreuse - the effect, if you want one, is up to you! The rest areas also have robots "skilled" in giving massages that are looking to test their newly acquired skills and with four pairs of arms, they can work on two people at once! In fact, they're rather insistent about giving you a free massage if they hear even the slightest hint of fatigue in your voice and will usher people into their curtained off booths regardless of whether they know the other occupant or not. These robots are still learning though, so anyone curious enough to try may need to work with their partner to give these robots pointers. They're trying, but not having fragile little flesh bodies is a major obstacle in learning how to have a gentle touch.

❥ PROMPT IV: That Which Remains

With the opening of the city, there seem to be a lot of buildings that need cleaning. Some are so dilapidated that they're better off demolished than repossessed, and most are residential and commercial buildings reminiscent of the ones the offworlders are used to seeing everyday in the Havenwell they've all known up until now. However, among the ruins of these older sections, those intrepid enough to venture and explore may find a few unique gems awaiting them. Just remember: the first rule of urban exploration is to never go alone. You never know what might be lurking in those abandoned buildings or what obstacles might be in your way. Doorways blocked by rubble will need more than one person to remove them. Frightened (and frightening) animals might be lingering in the dark. And, most importantly, you don't want to fall through the floor and vanish into a basement. There seem to be quite a few weakened floors out there. In the following parts of the expanded city, characters can find these interesting ruins:
- Northwest: The Arena - In the northwest of the newly opened area, characters can find what looks to be a ruin of a large open air oval building. The building itself is almost 3 stories tall with walls overgrown with brown vines and dead foliage. There are doorways that have no doors, instead being high archways through which people can access in the interior. Stairs lead up into what looks like worn stone benches and down below is a rubble-strewn open area. Part of the walls have collapsed over time but it's very clear this place was used once as some sort of viewing area. It'll take a bit of work to clear this place until it's usable!
There are archways with stairs that lead downward, but you'll need some help clearing away the rubble to get to what's below! If you're successful in getting beneath the arena, you'll find hallways with empty rooms that vary between large enough to possibly be some sort of training room to small enough to be just enough space for someone to put a slim single cot or bed and maybe a wardrobe to have a small private room. Some rooms have rusted metal that may or may not have been weapons at some point, while others have faded wall paintings, chipped and worn with age. It's hard to make out, but with enough reconstruction work, you may just learn who used to haunt these halls. - Southeast: The Baths - In the southeast of the newly opened area, characters will find a domed building unlike the rest of the architecture around it. It's extremely large, for one, and squat, while the rest of Havenwell's buildings seem to be lean and tall. The walls are made of the same stone, but the dome above is broken glass. There are several metal sliding doors set in the walls, but many are fused shut with grime and years of disuse. One main door, larger than the others is sightly ajar, however, and with some help characters may be able to force it open.
Inside, they find an expansive lobby with white floors that must have sparkled before all the grime, dirt, and broken glass took over. The dome overhead reflects the light, making the interior of the building as bright as outside. At the center of the lobby is a dry fountain with two broken statues - four armed humanoids holding urns. Their heads are missing and many of the arms are broken and lying in the dry basin. From the lobby there are alcoves in every direction and two hallways that lead further into the buiding in opposite directions. In each alcove are low stone seats and round basins sunk into the ground that are either dry with a black film around the inside, or full of a dark oily substance that's nearly coagulated.
Go down the hallways and you'll find identical looking chambers. First, you enter an open area with broken sinks and mirrors, with stone cubbies on the walls. Then when you pry open and push past the metal sliding doors, you'll find yourself in a wide open semicircular area filled with baths of different sizes, shapes and depths. Some are free-standing stone tubs, others are large basins sunk into the ground, and still others are rectangular and just big enough for one or two people to lie down in. Each of these basins are like the ones in the lobby, either filled with that same coagulated black ooze or dry with a black film inside. Looks like it's time to get cleaning because each basin also seems like they might be able to be retrofitted to produce water perhaps. - Southwest: The Factory - In the southwest, closest to the wall, the characters can find an imposing square building. It has small thin windows and boasts a plethora of chimneys and smokestacks on the roof, some of which are crumbling or broken with age and exposure. There are two square doors, both of which are large enough to drive a truck through and made of metal which needs to be pried open before accessing the inside. Once inside, the characters find a massive operation geared toward ore and mineral processing and metallurgical refinement. The machinery is old, but extremely well laid out, as it seems this plant was used to process huge volumes of minerals and ores before being lost to time. There are stations for every imaginable part of the refining process separated neatly so they can work efficiently, but all of the machines are broken or currently inoperable and will need significant work before they can start functioning again.
Explore the refinery and you may still find one or two of the ores lying about. They contain an unknown metal that gleams a slick oily silver. At the back of the refinery is an industrial elevator which is currently inoperational. Peering down through the cracks, however, reveals that the shaft goes a long way down. The view of just how far is obstructed by a shimmering rainbow-colored barrier, not unlike the one that is just outside the walls.
This event will run from April 15th to 30th, although due to the areas and effects not technically vanishing, feel free to continue playing with it for some time beyond. Ardyn Lucis Caelum | FFXV
[So, you accidentally woke up an undead giraffe on the far edges of town? Happens to the best of us.]
Watch out--!
[Which was all the warning anyone nearby would get before a massive sword flew through the air towards the towering creature's head, the unassuming violet-haired man who threw it turning into a streak of magenta light and reappearing in midair to grip the blade's hilt and bring the massive sword down hard into the giraffe's skull. Ardyn landed lightly after the full twenty foot drop, two-handed weapon held easily in one as though it were weightless.]
[More likely he'd be found here and there--wherever the situation was at its most dire or the monsters most aggressive. Flashing around the battlefield in a thrown greatsword and flickers of magenta afterimages, with a combat style best described as 'unrefined' and a clear disregard for his own safety or welfare.]
[What did something like that matter? He was the immortal one, and there were sure to be people in need of help.]
[iii; in a room behind your smile]
[The advantage of being Ardyn: he didn't get tired. So if he wasn't out on the front lines fighting, he was in the main square helping with the medical efforts for anyone injured. His knowledge of first aid was passable, but for those who might have more severe wounds...well, he'd be likely to do something stupid. Stupid, but effective. And as long as it got the desired results and prevented anyone from suffering or dying...wasn't that what counted?]
[x; wildcard; send me an angel]
[i'm up for anything/anytime else! except the thirtieth, he's. busy.]
i
What he didn't take were any particular weapons, unless tools counted. Sometimes they did, but in this case not so much.
He'd been collecting a sample when the corpse started to stir. The sound of old bones snapping filled the air as the giant creature fumbled up to its feet, like a puppet being dragged up by its strings. He, of course, finished collecting his sample and putting it away, but with more haste in his efforts.
Fortunately someone else took care of the creature before he needed to see if he could flee. Fractured bits of bone and dust dribbled down to the floor as the giraffe swayed and tumbled to its side with a thud.
Verstael tucked the sample away in his pack, standing up straight in glorious armor and all and glancing at Ardyn with a neutral expression.
By this point he knew well enough that Ardyn didn't care for him. He held no delusions of camaraderie anymore.]
A fortuitous meeting, but one I am sure you will not repeat so I shall be more cautious in my efforts in the future.
[He doubted very much Ardyn would do anything to save him again. He doubted he would see him here for more than a minute.
His gaze trailed up the giraffe. Upon the skull that was now half-collapsed sat the remains of a flower. He pulled out a larger container - something he had been working on himself to ensure airtight preservation - and like a second nature began unscrewing it as if he didn't need to take a moment to think.]
Will you collect that for me?

Sure, he hadn't been entirely sure how to hand the huge bone monster!! He should probably be thankful this weird man took care of it. He is not. But he doesn't complain then. No, he stews. Keeps seeing this grand reckless idiot around, doing this same thing. What a showoff.
It isn't until he happens to spot Ardyn at a moment of downtime that he stalks up to him, not looking terribly annoyed, but there's a heavy tone of displeasure in his words;]
You know, one of these days someone's not going to react to your last minute warnings in time and get a sword through their head.
[Somehow this feels like a threat? That's just the general aura that Ogata brings to the table.]

She may be cloaked in a dark robe that obscures much of her form, but Era knows her silhouette would be distinctive all the same. Especially with her Carbuncle shining like a beacon.
So she picks up a fist-sized chunk of rock and hurls it irritably at her brother while Topaz Carbuncle continues focusing on the more pressing target. ]

It sure does look like he could use an extra set of hands wrapping the wound, though. Just so long as those hands are not trying to heal the wound by taking it into another person's body...]

He's given himself most of the month- to settle back into his life here, to allow his wounds to heal, to reconnect two sets of memories into one comprehensible timeline, to separate two very different men in his head and his heart. He's listened to a voicemail, over and over. He's studied photos collected from friends. He's done everything he can do from a distance, but time and digital renditions can only heal so much hurt. It's why he's here, waiting for an open door, trying not to doubt his own conviction. This is the final test.
In his head is the same mantra he's told himself every time he listened to the voice, looked into amber eyes in photographs searching for the hatred that doesn't exist. It's not him. It's not him. It's not him.]

[ --Or help her out of a predicament, because she's unwittingly found herself in one. It seems that a few of the more hostile creatures have encountered her, leaving her with little ways in which to flee. Whether they are the the spiders, the bone giraffe, or others, you might see how she's slowly being backed up against a wall, watching each of the approaching creatures with a careful wariness, or those more observant, hesitation. It may appear as if she's debating something--
But this is when she spots you. ] A--ah, over here! A little help?!
[ It’s then that the beast might attack her just then, but she side steps it with a graceful turn. ] Oh! [ Close, close! ]
Vines
[ You're exploring one of the abandoned, dilapidated buildings with her, the one that's veiled in brown, flaky vines. Perhaps you've even brought along one of the free machetes, or maybe you have your own weapon.
It's accidental: one misstep and she's disturbed the plants, which then release a puff of yellow pollen. She stutters, blinking a few times in surprise, lifting a hand to waft away the excess cloud with a twitching, irritated nose. It's not quick enough to stop the effect, which is almost instantaneous as she takes a few staggering steps to the side-- ] Mmm.... [ --only to slump. On you!
Should you have been any bit worried about her for the way she had staggered, her tired expression seems nothing if not completely natural upon her, as if she had been waiting for rest for quite a while. A quiet murmur escapes her as she closes her eyes: ] ....Comfy.
Southwest: The Factory
--Come see!
[ There is excitement in her voice, a smile accompanying how quickly she moves into the building, waving you over to follow. While once this factory may have been a cacophony of industrial whirs, sparks, and heat, now the warehouse only echos with her call and her footsteps as she walks past the heavy machinery. ]
These ones... This row appears to be all smelters. [ Pyra disappears behind one of the machines, continuing to talk. The soft glow of her crystals provide some illumination of the dusty shadows, giving away just which row she's wandered between. ] They're used to extract the ore from the raw resource. Following this production line forward... [ She pops her head out from another machine, this one further away. The sound of metal creaking can be heard refracting off the rusted metal of the factory. She's climbing something. ] ....We might be able see if there are refined samples of-- whatever they were attempting to process.
[ Metals, she hopes. They could be the precious metals of the ores as mentioned in the archives. ]

Vines
And then, suddenly, a puff.
Instinctively he backed away from it and covered his mouth and nose defensively with an arm. He managed to avoid it, lucky enough that he had not been as close as Pyra.
But then she staggered backwards towards him, and as she lost consciousness he reacted as most would and quickly caught her from behind, before she fell backwards.
The dust slowly dissipated into nothing, drifting away or coming to a rest on the ground. He was quickly assessing Pyra's condition with a quick scan of her as he held her. Still breathing. Not appearing to be choking. No apparent life-threatening situations offhand...
But as he did something caught his attention from the corner of his eye.
At first it was so small he wondered if it was a trick of the eye. But he made a note of the placement of cracks and pebbles on the ground, and as the vines slowly covered things he should still be able to see he realized for certain that they were moving.
He was not a large man by any means, but he wasn't weaker than average, either. Wrapping his arms around Pyra's midsection, he began pulling her backwards, away from the vines, cautiously watching his steps as he moved back. He just needed to get her far enough away, and he was fortunate that nothing quick was after them.
He placed her down to rest on a smooth stone surface. It was no longer possible to tell what the object once was. A bench, perhaps. Or table. Whatever it had once been, enough remained of it now for him to lie her down on the half that hadn't been smashed.
With another quick scan of the area for any danger, he determined that they were far enough that no plants would catch them anytime soon. Firm grip on her upper arm, he jostled her.]

For Noctis
Then from there, to move forward.
"Come exploring!" she beckons, pulling at his hand to invite him out and into the newly unlocked portion of their tiny closed-in world. The false sunshine glints off of her earrings as she steps out, and it seems she's dressed to explore, wearing one of the casual black T-shirts he's given her (and a pack to carry things in to bring back with her, if they find anything of interest).
Even if they do not end up finding anything, he could do with the distraction of activity. Pyra makes for the southwest portion of the city, telling him that there's more to see but that it would be best to not travel alone. Having been beyond the barrier before, the both of them would know that the immediate area outside the walls contained its fair share of danger. She hopes that when they must eventually part for the day, he doesn't decide to wander, either, in solitude.
Currently, they walk down one of the dusty streets the new regions. Without anyone else around, the area is eerily quiet. ] ...We should be careful. [ She glances at him, lowering her voice. ] It's possible we might encounter one of those bone giraffes again... or something worse. Promise me that we'll retreat, if anything gets too tough for you to handle, okay? [ Or, technically, the both of them to handle, since she does carry his magic within her now. A few training sessions on how to use a sword has made her passable at (posing for) combat. ]

Cyan Hijirikawa | Show by Rock!!
[ The startling events with the wall kept Cyan mainly at bay. She wasn't a fighter - far from it. She could only provide comfort with company and music, but even then, she knew she had to be capable of more than that. Asking around to see what she could do to assist, she was happy to hear she could contribute to the waystations and helping those on the frontlines was a huge boost to her personal morale. I can do something!
She found herself thinking about the boys she knew were fighters, but hoped that someone less capable wasn't out there doing something dangerous. She's fixing one of the futons on the ground with concern panging her heart but an expression of confidence that she was a piece in a bigger picture. It was somewhat satisfying not to have the weight of an entire world resting on her shoulders this time, even if she had help back then as well.
If she catches someone worn or even a new face showing up to the pit stop, she is going to approach you rather quickly to offer assistance. ]
Hi! Welcome, please come rest... Oh, uhm, I'm Cyan. We've got beds over there [ She points toward the rows of blankets in the distance, flinching as she hears a massage going, erm, slightly awry in the same direction. She quickly tries to override the noise with her opening statement. ] AND PLEASE let me know if you're hungry or need a drink! [ Yeah, nailed it. ]

Goofy | Kingdom Hearts
[With a name like Goofy, and looking as he does, it'd be easy to assume he's not much of a fighter. It's true in a sense - he's more of a defender. That's why he's suddenly right in front of you, blocking a hard attack with his shield, deflecting claws, teeth, wings, or whatever was after you.]
Phew... close one. You all right there?
II
[Chopping up vines? Sounds pretty easy! He's humming as he chops...]
I've been workin' on the vine-road, all the live long day! I've been working on the vine-road, just to pass the time away -
[... And, of course, he gets a big huff of dust right in his face. He blinks, sneezing one.]
Uh-oh, hope I ain't allergic to nothin'. That would -

Aaand he's out like a light, snoring very loudly. Some assistance, please?]

Kyoko Mogami | Skip Beat!
The Kyoko here and now hesitated for a full day before curiosity and boredom completely overwhelmed all her self-doubt. Cleaning was one of her top specialties! Maybe this was the true reason she was brought here! Besides, what was the point of being stuck in this situation if she never got to see any of the really interesting things?
So maybe you'll find her somewhere on the former outskirts of town, in one of the more deserted spots where the wall used to be, getting used to her government-issued (?) machete--testing the weight in her hand, trying a few careful slashes, or even spinning it in short bursts--ah jeez, she was so out of practice.... Or perhaps you're further along, poking around the ruins, whether you were recruited onto Kyoko's Grand Cleaning and Renovation Expedition or just happened to catch her out there on her own, contending with vines, running from spiders, or uh chasing an Ansaurini.
[ She's likely to visit all the sites at least once, so let me know if you want her somewhere! You can also hit me up here or on plurk to plot out more specific scenarios. I will match styles. ]
a d v e n t u r e
Let's explore those ruins a bit, and see what kinds of things can easily be tackled by two people. "There's some rubble over here," some that he's definitely not going to be able to move on his own, but he's pretty sure the two of them could manage it together. Not the first time they'd have done this, after all...! "Do you think you can give me a hand with it?"

Shinji Ikari | Neon Genesis Evangelion
There's a lot of this whole situation that isn't exactly Shinji's speed. The walls migrating, the sudden reappearance of those terrible little spider-like creatures, it's all just super not great! He's not enjoying this at all! It is, at least, all pretty avoidable by staying indoors for a couple of days, but once most of the dust settles, and the Big Changes appear to be done, perhaps... a little exploration... would not be so bad?
He's still not going out into many of the more perilous new parts of town while things are still particularly hairy, but helping tidy up some of the debris from the edges of the ruins closest to the city is completely workable. Sweeping up, clearing paths, so on and so on. The kinds of stuff he already does at Rawna's temple, easy peasy. Taking breaks to try and chill with the wildlife is also a Rawna-temple-activity that can be brought out into the open - why not see if these strangle little lizards are daring enough to take a treat from him...!
On the other hand, he seems to have attracted the attention of some kind of horrible... archaeopteryx? It's kind of annoying to end up with his cleaning supplies swiped from under his nose, but whatever, easy enough to get those back from this waddling menace. What really gets him is when that beak manages, mysteriously, to wrangle the pendant he keeps tucked away under his shirt off, with only its sudden lack of presence alerting him to this fact. There! It goes!
"H-hey!" How?! Did you do this!? Give that back!!
B
Continuing to hang back on the bigger endeavors while other, more intrepid explorers take the first stab at going through the more interesting ruins, Shinji only manages to make his way to the more noteworthy buildings after the hard task of cracking open those doors and making a few sweeps through has already been achieved by other parties. From there? Well, it's pretty much free game, if no one's come across anything particularly dangerous hidden away worth warning anyone about.
It's pretty marvelous to think that these buildings managed to stay as intact as they are through that storm raging on just outside of the walls, and even in their poor state, he carefully picks his way through their layouts with a quiet sense of awe. The one that holds his attention most, however, is the building housing the baths. These look... not unsalvageble. Interesting. Maybe worth cleaning up? Yeah... yeah, let's try at least getting some of this building tidied up.
So much of that elbow grease he typically puts toward the temple can be applied instead to the bath house for a while! Nice and diligent! Hopefully he's got someone mindful enough helping him out, because the longer he goes on cleaning, the heavier that depressing air is settling in on him, up until he just kind of... stops. Apparently zoned out wherever he's stationed himself. Huh.
C
[Wild card! Hit me up via pm or over at
B to Start
He maybe wasn't the most clean-oriented person around, but work was work so let's work! Clean those walls! Scrub those tubs! Those VR spas had been pretty nice, wouldn't a real life one be even better? Even if baths in this rough kind of shape meant they were nice for critters, like the slightly brave lizard that Kai was peering at. What a good little guy. It was a good distraction from some of the heaviness in the air, which Kai was doing his best to just ignore. The lizard blinked at Kai, and Kai blinked back before he turned to beckon over at Shinji.
"Hey, Shinji--" He started, then blinked at the other boy too. Just standing there, looking a little, empty? Oh, that seemed... Kai hated that the word was 'familiar.'
"Shinji?"

Nico di Angelo | OTA
[Finally, something interesting to do. Not that Nico hasn't appreciated the more peaceful atmosphere. He was ... kind of looking forward to it, back home. But he's not used to sitting idle.
This, though. This is something he can work with.
At least he thought so. Maybe it was foolish to march off on his own into foreign territory. Especially when a low growl alerts him to something that is not a one-eyed lizard or weird oily rabbit, but an angry dog-looking thing with bits of metal and bone sticking out of it.
He pulls his sword free, but starts moving back and away quickly, not really paying attention to what - or who else might around. A little too busy to apologize for bumping into you, and that thing is closing in fast.]
Can you fight?
[IV]
[Nico picks his way carefully over the arena, hands running over the walls and rubble, as if the stone could tell him what he wants to know.]
I wonder what this was used for?
[Gladiatorial sports? Sacrifice? Did it hold any religious meaning? And how far back did it date?
He's happy enough to explore alone or with company, though he won't hesitate to shadow travel to those harder to reach places, or digging his hands into the rubble blocking up the lower levels.]

Zenitsu Agatsuma | Kimetsu no Yaiba
[ Zenitsu does not have great memories of spiders, mainly in his home world because he wasn't here back in October. Not a fun time. So with the inky black spiders rushing in numbers, you'd hear this blond screeching in fear as he runs away from them. ]
Don't tell me demon spiders are here too!?
[ He knows they're not demons, at least in his mind. The sounds he's able to pick up tell him that much, but he still needs to let out his screaming. There's also a different problem that comes along with that: his katana is only meant to cut down demons, not inky monsters, so he's not sure whether he should even use his nichirin blade against them. ]
What do we do with them!?!
[ It's such a weird sight for people unfamiliar with his katana. This kid, who has a weapon hung at his waist, isn't using it and is instead running away from the monsters. ]
[ II ]
[ After the rush of monsters die down thanks to everyone else taking care of them, Zenitsu isn't freaking out...as much. He's still wary of his surroundings as he gets requested to help out hacking the vines away, but he's very hesitant to even move close to the vines. With what's been going on, his paranoia is in full force at basically everything. ]
Please don't start moving like the walls... I will die if anything tries to kill out here...
[ Oh how he wishes... Someone tell him about the vines' effects. ]
[ IV - mainly for existing CR ]
[ Zenitsu's never up for exploring the unknown. Just the thought of anything can be deadly makes him nervous and scared, and that causes his sense of hearing to be more sensitive than usual. Even without that his ears pick up so much, so Zenitsu's thoughts go in an endless cycle, which results in him being a nervous wreck.
Even with that, though, if he sees a familiar face about to head out for exploring by themselves, he wouldn't hesitate to catch your attention: ]
D-do you think it's a good idea to go?? Those monsters might still be around, you shouldn't go alone!
[ Extra; anything else! ]
[ Or anything else! Feel free to reach out to me via plurk
IV
Then, let's not go alone.
[ A quiet smile forms upon her lips, and she steps towards the baths, giving him a small tug for him to walk beside her. ] Forward.... [ She reassures quietly. ] Let's go.
[ Nothing will be achieved if they remain idle. ]

Ardbert | Final Fantasy XIV
Perhaps Ardbert shouldn't have traveled alone. His armor is protecting him against some of the attacks from the spiders, but he's still surrounded. Except he didn't travel alone: he has his enormous axe, and with a sudden whirlwind of motion, he dispatches all of the spiders near him.
Ardbert grins to himself. "Ha, still got it." Which prompts another to jump off a nearby building and right on to his back where he can't reach it. "Oh, bugger!"
II. Welcome to the Urban Jungle
Ardbert expertly cuts through a huge line of vines with his giant axe. Ardbert also expertly breathes in the huge cloud of yellowish dust, stumbles back with a quite "Oh, shite," and throws his axe a few feet away from him before falling over backwards, fast asleep. The vines begin to move towards him.
IV. That Which Remains, Arena
Gods, he's been needing a distraction like this to keep him busy and not thinking about how terrible the last couple of weeks have been.
Ardbert's looking around with almost glee on his face, holding his axe in both hands in case there's danger. "This place..." He looks to the person he's with. "Think it'll make a good place to train? Been getting tired of the old backyard."
I
Noctis had been scouting around the area, so he's conveniently warping from a few buildings over when he hears the shout. Looking at the scene below, it's easy to assess the situation and fling his sword downwards as he calls out his warning. A second after impact he warps to it in a flash of blue energy, and as he straightens from his crouch he swings the sword upwards, blade tearing right through the abdomen of the spider on Ardbert's back. The creature makes a gurgling noise and drops, legs wriggling as it dies.

Cor Leonis | FFXV
[It's very soon after the walls shift that Cor is out searching, that is of little surprise to anyone. But as the scattered creatures that have been scratching a living out here become identified he will make a point of contacting everyone he has been doing training with. Not only is it a good chance for a real test of the new skills people have been working on...
For most of the Eosians, so used to constant action, it's just outright satisfying to have something to fight again. Especially as most of these creatures are hardly a challenge. Besides, if the people more equipped for this sort of thing are able to take care of most of the dangers early on it will be safer for others to venture out.]
IV.
[Another thing that Cor makes a point of informing people about is exactly how useful the armiger can be for these sorts of projects. Heavy tools and equipment to help support or clear out damaged buildings can be stored in the armiger until they are needed, making it much easier to traverse the extended portions of the city.
Once some of the larger structures are found Cor is very eager to get involved in the restoration efforts. He may not have much experience with construction but he is a large, powerful man and he takes direction well. The Baths are of particular interest to him and it is not difficult to find him working in the building throughout the later days of the month, when he can be reasonably sure that encounters with the more aggressive beasts are fewer. There are times when he pauses in the work, trailing fingers over dirty walls, musing softly to himself.]
Are you what they based that spa after?
V.
Wildcard! Cor is going to be out and about keeping himself busy all month so if you wanna do something else hit me up!
V
A shadow passes by overhead, as Will flies out to find them, then promptly wheels away again to find somewhere suitably distant to land. Better to recall the Xatu back into her ball before he approaches, so they won't terrify what's presumably a prey creature.....]

Mitsuri Kanroji | Kimetsu no Yaiba
[Mitsuri is very used to fighting monsters, so it's a simple thing to find her fighting off pretty much anything. She's very proactive about finding the monsters and taking them out - so you're most likely to find her fighting spiders, rive talons, or even that bone giraffe. She is exclusively using her own sword rather than anything provided for her. And she actually looks pretty serious while fighting - and will jump in front of any monsters that might try to attack someone else who just happens upon their fight.]
2) Vines
[Where she's from, people of her skill level tend to go off on missions alone, so Mitsuri thought little of grabbing a machete (don't wanna use her sword on vines...!) and going off on her own to start checking to make sure that there aren't any more bothersome monsters around.
And yeah, the dust the vines were giving off was kind of icky, but Mitsuri didn't think anything of it until she suddenly started to feel drowsy - at which point what was happening snapped into focus just as her vision blurred.
She only had enough time before she passed out to get herself a good distance from the nearest vines - but that's certainly not stopping them from coming after her slowly.]
3) Clean-Up
[One of the first things that needs to be done when cleaning up ruined areas is always to get rid of the largest chunks of stuff that is lying around - or at least pile it all in one out-of-the way place.
So Mitsuri can be found - a few days after the monsters have been seemingly taken care of - taking care of boulders of rubble! She is picking up boulders about the size of herself with little trouble and can even be seen hefting ones larger than herself with a little strain to toss them onto a pile nearby.]

Will | Pokémon (Ainea)
[A trainer's gotta do what a trainer's do. And what do trainers do? They battle, of course! Who knows what kind of Poké--er, animals might leap out of the tall grass?
Are you about to be menaced by a hostile creature while exploring the outskirts? Here to hunt with him--either to help catch things for the scientists, or just to clear out the dangerous and aggressive critters? No matter how soft and sweet you've known him to be, he's definitely stepping up to the plate now as he throws out a Pokéball. Have you met his friends yet?]
Let's go, Reve!
Animal Amie:
[Have you been rambling around exploring the outskirts on your own? Hunting the animals that call this place home, maybe? You may come upon someone who clearly doesn't have enough animal friends. Will is slowly approaching a few rabbits or lizards with a welcoming smile, holding a tupperware with what looks like some bright blue carrots sliced up.]
Hi, guys~ ♥ Did you miss me?
Pokémon Go(ose): (Network post or action, as you prefer)
[The camera is panning over the outside of one of the ruined buildings, clearly preparing to go in for some recorded exploration, when a shadow suddenly falls across the ground. It draws closer, closer.....
Until suddenly, the camera jerks violently and takes off at an impressive pace. There's an indignant yelp of protest, and the sound of running as Will chases after the little thief.]
H-hey! Give that back!
Urban Jungle:
[Will is all about exploration, of course, but this? He's..... never actually used a machete in his life, and he's looking at the ones the locals gave the two of you with some dubiousness.]
I know we need to clean this place up, but do we really need to hack up all these vines? I thought plants growing was a good sign.
Clean Up:
[Will may not be used to physical labor, but he's not afraid of it, either. He's willing to do what needs to be done, whether that's help scrub away grime or carry debris. Still, the leaden, gray atmosphere that hangs around the place..... it's kind of draining, to be honest.
And as sensitive as he is, it's going to get to him sooner than later. He can't help a discouraged sigh, staring down at bleached bones and twisted metal amidst the rubble; no matter how much they clean, it doesn't feel like the devastation becomes any more manageable. Was that a person, once? A lot of people? What happened to them? How did they die?]
It's hard to believe just a storm could really cause so much destruction.....
Nurse Joy:
[Did you take a tumble exploring the ruins or trying to clean them up? Get attacked by a swarm of vicious spiders? Just need to take a rest after a hard day of hacking up vines? Not to fear! As you enter the waystation, you'll find yourself greeted by a very solicitous Chansey, eager to see what the matter is and direct you somewhere to sit down. You'll be a good patient and let the cutest, fluffiest nurse take care of you, right? Even if that just means allowing yourself to get herded to a seat so she can bring you some nice hot soup.]

Honerva | OTA
[ At last, an answer to the portents. Still not worth getting arrested for. To her credit, Honerva doesn't immediately take off into the unknown once the walls shift over. Thanks to the results of her prior investigation during the breach, she has some idea already of what's out there, and with it all now being gated within the barrier that leaves more time to prepare.
While spending time around the waystation areas, she mostly seems interested in the collection of data. If someone seems to be heading back in from cleaning or fighting, she might tilt her head and question what they've noticed or encountered. And if it someone planning to go out but seeming uncertain, she might help with some coordinates or warnings; she's gathered a lot of image data, anyway.
Or she just might be lost in thought when someone accidentally brushes by her. That's entirely possible. There's a lot of work to focus on, but it's just as easy to be... distracted. ]
( b. exploring )
[ Dressed in a teal half-cape over tunic and leggings, Honerva does go on her own explorations. She's cautious about her ventures but she fully intends to scope things out for herself; whomever she was accompanying likely isn't too far off. The structure and architecture of the buildings is what take up her attention the most; she might sometimes be found taking pictures of the state of them, or gathering up broken down rubble with a wave of her hand by some kind of magical means, either to gently move it out of the way or to stick into a borrowed cart to bring back for study.
There might be a chance of hostile creatures lurking in the less explored areas. One never knows what's under those floors; hopefully no one wandering by accidentally disturbs something sleeping...
Mostly, her attention will be taken up by examining the factory when it's located, where she can be found studying the machinery and the state of disrepair very closely, or carefully peeking around to see if there's anything left behind to examine or bring back to study. ]

There are ducks. Thieving ducks. Duck thieves. Call them what you will, but I am about to call them illegal myself.
[This isn't his kingdom, but surely if he talks to the right natives...]

Coil Lenn | OC
[Since he'd arrived, Coil has kind of become a little bit of a shut-in, feeling no real compulsion to leave his home and do much exploring or socializing. He has a narrow set of interests, and especially with most of the people he had met and connected with now gone, not a lot draws him out into the light of day.
But then monsters attack.
Well... they don't attack so much as happen to be caught in the city, but Coil is reacting as if there is a full-on invasion. Or maybe acting like it's his birthday. He's very excited.
Quarterstaff in hand, he can be found out (alone, foolishly) clobbering spiders with focused intensity. With the makeshift metal caps he'd fashioned on the ends of the staff, he's defeating them quite handily... but they do attack in packs, and Coil only has one eye. It's only a matter of time before more than he can easily watch come creeping up to pounce from his blind side...]
→ Goosed
[He knows how to defeat the spiders. He has even successfully faced off with one of strange half-rubble hounds. But the birds?? They're running circles around him.
Currently, there is one sassy creature waddling through the ruins with what looks like a little white knife in its beak. Behind it, stealthily creeping along a ledge in the rubble is Coil, ready to pounce with murderous intent as soon as he gets within range.
He hasn't been successful yet, but maybe this time he'll finally get the drop on the feathered beast.]
→ Bones
[The biggest prize of all, of course, are those monstrous bone giraffes. Coil absolutely should not be trying to take one on by himself, but of course he has to try.
He has a plan. It may be a reckless and dangerous plan, but that has never stopped him before.
He also hadn't planned on other people being around. So, he looks a little surprised to see another person as he comes bolting out of a corridor in the ruins, eye wide as he realizes this could seriously complicate things. The crashing, clattering sounds galloping behind him aren't likely to leave a lot of room for error.
Luckily, his plan succeeds enough to not immediately get him or anyone else nearby immediately killed. A massive skeletal giraffe bursts out of the corridor right behind him--but as soon as it sets foot outside the mouth of the alley, it triggers a magical trap in a burst of unholy grey light.
Now suddenly visible, a complex sigil drawn on the ground and crawling up the walls around the corridor crackles with energy, and the bone giraffe rattles and contorts in place instead of trampling its prey. The necromantic ward has the creature held mostly immobile, but who knows how long that will last... and it does nothing to account for the acid breath.]

Ciel Phantomhive | Kuroshitsuji
[The walls.
Ciel can only stare in wonder when he comes to see the results of that vicious earthquake. He's not fit to fight anything aggressive in the new areas but he is curious. If he can find someone willing to take him along, he'll certainly be willing to explore. And try to capture breeding pairs of the more docile creatures. Otherwise?
He'll just wait until it's all cleared out and then look around.]
[II.]
[The machete isn't exactly something he's used to but it's not so unbearably different from a sword that he can't handle it. Especially if it's just to cut some vines. It might even be noticeable in how he handles it that he's used a sword before, but obvious that this is a new style of bladed weapon for him.
When, or if, alone, it won't be hard for one of those puffs of dust to knock him out. He's never cared much for horticulture aside from identifying sterling roses. So hopefully no one has left the teen off on his own.]
[III.]
[Having failed clearing the new parts of the city, Ciel has set himself to the task of helping put together kits. Luckily, he wasn't hurt and doesn't catch the eye of one of the robots aiming to become a masseuse. He may be older and healthier than when he first started this multi-world adventure, but he's still not the most durable. They'd probably break something.]
What do you need?
[He can throw together kits and hand them out quickly though. And that, at least, is useful.]
[WILD.]
