❥ Speaking of Wall Breaking...

The ghosts in town sure are weird, huh? But they're settling down, as the month draws to a close. They're becoming less anxious and random, their behaviour growing sort of… focused. As time passes some of them begin to develop features. They can interact with the world more consistently. You can… hear their voice.

And then suddenly they are people, real and physical and just as confused to be here as you are. They could be anyone, from your world, someone else's world, a place you've never heard of… some of them could even be you, from a different universe, a different timeline, an unknown reality. What does all this mean?

IT'S FOURTH WALL, Y'ALL. Tell your friends, people interested in apping or just playing around in the setting, anybody! Time to break the wall down and have some fun.

This post serves as a replacement for the usual Test Drive Meme, in order to consolidate the chaos a bit. Though it is being posted now, timeline-wise, this shift will occur ONLY during the weekend prior to applications opening: October 30th to November 2nd, after which point characters will either disappear or become permanent residents via the application process. This also means that the rest of the event effects will have worn off, and characters will be their normal selves through the duration of this prompt.

Some ground rules for the 4th Wall event:

For characters/accounts not in-game:

• a character does not have to meet application qualifications to post to the 4th Wall Event, except in cases where there is an intent to apply when applications open. Duplicates, CRAU, AU, etc. are permitted for the event.
  
• we do ask that crack shenanigans are reasonably limited, game rules are followed, and that the event involve characters only, not players or real people.
  
• anyone can toplevel! It'll be a free for all. Go wild, have fun.
  
• characters will be given a temporary, low-tech communicator for the duration of the event with limited network access, due to limited availability of the real deal.
  
• you will not arrive with any items/companions beyond the clothes that you wear
  
• check out the Setting or FAQ pages for location details! Also, have a look at the October event log, to see what else is going on these days.

For characters/accounts currently in-game:

• players can decide for themselves at the event's conclusion whether or not memories of certain visitors remain, and to what extent; memories could become fuzzy, faces or communication obscured, they could disappear entirely, or they can remain fully intact whether the person apps into the game or not.
  
• network communications with 4th Wall visitors that don't (or can't) app in will be wiped, with the locals citing a data error related to the older communicators being used. Technology can be unpredictable, huh!
  
• any communication exchanges that you WANT to keep can remain with some discretion; for example, if a spouse visits and you happen to take a selfie with them, and they do not (or cannot) app but having that photo of them would give you comfort, feel free to keep it.
  
• Similar to the TDM, 4th wall threads cannot be used for AC or AC Reward purposes unless it is between characters already in-game.

[ She stares at her in silence for a few moments after, still taking in the... AI? Machine's? friendly smile. A smile that she recognizes as one someone might give when seeing someone familiar.

Of more importance is the energy that Poppi exudes. Not unlike a core crystal, and yet... ] Poppi...

[ She places her hands upon her knees, bending over slightly to meet the girl at eye level. ] We come from different times, brought here from different points.

[ Her lips close to give her a smile. ]

So if I didn't say it in the future, then let me say it here: it's very nice to meet you.

[coppi]

[Hmm...

Hmm!!]

Is like when Blade forgets Masterpon, only backwards? [She tilts her head to the side. Like meeting Roc again after Rex-Rex became his new master. Okay. Okay! She can handle this!] Then, nice to meet Pyra also! Name is Poppi, world's first artificial Blade!

[ An artificial Blade! Her lips part to form a small "O".

Why would people be constructing artificial Blades...? War, of course. Of course.

Despite this thought, she smiles at her, her eyes sincerely kind. ]

Welcome to the world, Poppi. [ She says quietly. ] What do you think of it?

[coppi]

[She gives herself a moment to consider the question, and the world around her. She hasn't experienced enough to think much of it, but...]

New world is strange. Full of other artificial beings! Poppi never seen so many. At least, not many that could move. Not seen other Blades, either. [She pauses, then looks to Pyra again.] Correction: until now.

[ She has been so careful up until now, never once mentioning the term Driver or Blade. What if someone from her world had arrived here, seeking her? What if someone sought to attempt to claim her? She simply did not wish to put that information out there.

Poppi undoes so much of it all.

But she is innocent. And sweet. She means well. Somehow, the Pyra of the future has endeared herself to this artificial blade, and it's easy to see why. ]

If it's one thing this world has taught me, Poppi.... [ Her voice is lowered, but sentimental. ] ...It's that just because your hull is metal, doesn't make you artificial.

That includes you.

[coppi]

[Poppi tilts her head questioningly at that.]

Poppi is Poppi. Is no shame in being artificial Blade. Do not worry!

[She straightens up, hands on her hips.]

In some ways, artificial Blade better than crystal Blade! So Poppi is not sad.

[ Poppi is poppi... and Pyra dares to think that Poppi claiming to be better than real Blades would be insulting to some Blades themselves. Not that Pyra may say as much, because ultimately, she is not a Blade, either.

She hazards a guess as to why:  ]

Because you will not forget your Masterpon?

[coppi]

[She can't help but wilt a little at the thought of forgetting. She hadn't yet gotten around to cataloguing her life the way Brighid does, as they're always busy. Maybe here...?]

Not so. Artificial Blade can forget if internal memory corrupted. But can be used when ether energy limited if stored inside. Useful for traps!

[She gives her chest a light pat.]

Artificial Blades not as good in other ways. Pros and cons. Both are good, Poppi thinks.

[ Her eyes flit to the amber ether crystal that receives the pat, and she nods. ]

Poppi is a good artificial Blade, then. [ Pyra straightens up, holding out her hand. ] Although, I hope you haven't found yourself caught up in too many traps.

[coppi]

[Poppi beams, looking pleased with herself- or more specifically, at the praise.]

Only a few traps! But we escape in no time, with help from friends. Poppi have many much smarter friends now, thanks to Pyra.

[iustaegis]

[ She'll take Poppi's hand so that they might walk together, guiding the child-like artificial blade down an arbitrary path. ]

Oh? Are you sure it's not because you are just so friendly yourself? [ What credit does Pyra need when Poppi is adorable enough on her own. ]

[coppi]

[Poppi isn't sure whether or not her contact will really help the world, but she won't protest, trusting Pyra's judgment. And holding hands with friends is... nice. She swings their hands a little as they walk.]

Poppi is sure. Have not even activated super cuteness mode! [Have fun deciphering if that one's a real thing or not, because her looks don't tell.] Pyra helped Masterpon bring Poppi to life, so always grateful.

[ From her speech pattern and the "pon" suffix, she can only assume that she had been designed by a Nopon.

...It. It makes her realize how little she's spoken about her world to others. Only one other has ever heard her mention the word Nopon. If she had a heart, it would ache for the species, crafty and clever as they are (as well as cute). ]

Oh...?

[ This causes her to look at Poppi again, this time a little more carefully. Exactly how much input did she have in her design, or "bringing her to life." Concentrating a bit, she feels no connection to Poppi like she does her Artifices... ] I was just wondering where is it that you got your crystal.

[coppi]

Poppi not sure, as was not awake yet. But Masterpon get help from friends to buy parts.

[Exactly who helped with what is outside of her scope of knowledge - she'd had no reason to ask, really. But since Pyra doesn't know her future, maybe it's better to not give too many details anyway. Let her be surprised later.]

Crystal was important part Masterpon could not afford. Masterpon not very responsible with money.

[ Nopon are known to be either ridiculously frivolous, misers, or extraordinary efficient at all things economic. There is little grey area. ]

Ooh, then you tell him so, alright? [ She replies with a soft laugh. ] He's caring for you now, you know!

[coppi]

Poppi will try. Masterpon is good Driver, but have very little in good sense.

[She's been with the group long enough to learn how to convey fond exasperation, which is great when it comes to handling Tora.]

[iustaegis]

[ It's the way of their world. Blades are bound to their Drivers, no matter if they are good, bad, or... absolutely awful people. ]

Well, then.

If he upsets you, promise to tell the future-me about it, mm? I'll give him some words.

[coppi]

Pyra should not worry. Masterpon is good person. But if anything wrong, Poppi will tell Pyra!

[iustaegis]

[ She nods, smiling. ]

You're a good Blade, Poppi. I believe the future will be wonderful, if you are there.

[coppi]

It mean a lot to Poppi that Pyra would say that!

[There's no Blade she looks up to more than Pyra. And Mythra. Pythra? Anyway, she's wonderful.]
