July (Lasdia) Event Log
Offworlders, did you know? It's been a year since you and your peers began to arrive here! Some of you have been around this entire time, others have only just arrived, and many more fall in between. Whatever length of time you've spent here, the locals are very grateful for your time and effort. Even if it's been given without your consent, they want to make sure you know that your contributions are appreciated and, of course, have come to bear much fruit. Sometimes literally!

❥ PROMPT I: National Telegraphic

As Lasdia is in full-swing and whispers of anniversary are in the air, the entertainment district is beginning to capitalize on the general mood in town. Camera crews and journalists are seen more frequently, particularly in the residential areas where the majority of offworlders have settled, and have taken to following a few people on more than one occasion. Some are more subtle than others. And some are very obvious, maybe even going so far as to narrate what they observe. Even if what they see characters doing is mundane and not especially exciting, they'll do their best to hype it up. "Watch as the human stalks his prey, teeth bared and hungry, trying to decide which angle to strike... and he's got it! The human has chosen the strawberry danish as his meal. ...Oh no, we've been spotted! His teeth are bared towards us... loyal viewers, this could be the end for us...!"

It's... mostly harmless, and when caught in the act most of them will dramatically flee the area and attempt to film in a more subtle manner. Their attention can be short-lived if they spot another offworlder wandering by doing something more interesting and switch targets. Some will try and create drama or conflict, either between residents and offworlders (such as knocking over a store display and vanishing, leaving someone with an irritated shopkeep) or between the offworlders themselves, and generally they won't break any laws to get a scoop... but you may want to keep your curtains closed. A clever offworlder or two could probably get some annoying crew arrested for causing too much trouble, as many locals are likely to grow exasperated with it as well.

Shops to an extent are on board with capitalizing on the offworlders' popularity, however, which becomes apparent as characters might find something odd while shopping around: merchandise, representative of either yourselves or your neighbours. Perhaps some collectable figures of the great warriors of Havenwell can be spotted at the check-out counter. Or keychains showing a recognizable symbol someone wears are for sale at repair shops. Clothing of the offworlders become a popular style that transition well into the shawls and scarves that the robots wear. Trading cards with information blurbs (which may be accurate or entirely fictional), buttons... you name it, there could be at least one of it out there of you! Do you object, find a seller to yell at? Do you buy out the stock and hope they disappear? Or do you collect your friends for a laugh?

Just... maybe do yourself a favour and don't check the network for offworlder fanfiction. Even if the names have been changed, some of it is far too obvious and probably not meant for public consumption.

❥ PROMPT II: Calling Doctor Jones

Over the past year, and the past several months in particular, the locals have heard a number of requests for a more organized health care system within town, as the population of flesh-and-blood residents remains steady. While each temple has had recovery rooms built to provide aid to those who get sick or injured, it isn't their focus, so despite their best efforts they have come to recognize the need to do better.

Therefore to fill the void, this month's changes include the soft opening of the Havenwellness Clinic! Run by a local researcher of biology and a former veterinarian, Dr. Rojir, it exists not to replace the temple recovery rooms, but to give residents a more clinical and less religious location to recover from whatever ails them, as well as centralize supplies, medicine, and direct research on non-robotic species without being too invasive.

Doctor Rojir is a quiet and polite automoton with padded metal fingers designed to sense subtle differences in texture, temperature, and damage across surfaces, particularly skin. It can't feel, exactly, but complex mechanics within have been specially programmed to aid in detecting what sort of ailments might be affecting the patients. He's done a fair bit of research into the medical techniques of the past, as well as what is known thus far about the species inhabiting the world - humans especially, as there are a number of you! - but much of the information available is incomplete, since they don't have years of study to fall back on, or even a proper subject to examine, living or otherwise.

This is where you come in! There will be a sign-up thread down below for appointments, and Dr. Rojir will have a toplevel on the event post. What he's also going to do to assist in his research is pair characters up with someone unlike themselves in some way. That person is going to be your temporary research partner! You will be asked to sit down with the other person and teach one another about your status, your general health, anything that might be considered unique about who or what you are. This prompt is all about world-sharing and swapping questions with another person, and may be a great way to make some new CR, good or bad! You can request a specific partner, or have it randomized by a mod. We will try our best to link up characters who aren't in the same exact situation, physically.

If Dr. Rojir's solo appointment requests are too popular, we may schedule dates for when said appointments will occur, to avoid mod overload. You will be given a date if your appointment is going to occur later on during the event, or afterwards. We ask that you respond to the Sign-Up thread before tagging the NPC toplevel, so we can gauge interest and schedule accordingly.

Additionally, characters who are a) already volunteering at the existing temple clinics or b) medically trained in some way are welcome to volunteer to work at the clinic with Rojir. There will be a salary awarded to those willing and qualified, so it can count as a job in-town to help with whatever your monthly dora reward won't pay for. Please let us know if you're interested and qualified, and you can be added to the staff once we have the clinic added to the game information pages.

❥ PROMPT III: So Very Glamour-ous

It's been a year since Havenwell officially began pulling people in from another world. Crazy, is it not? The locals can hardly believe the changes and how well things are progressing. It may not seem like much, but to them, who have seen no positive changes for centuries, it's something worth celebrating for certain. Therefore, close to month's end, they're throwing a party for everyone!

Much like the food festival half a year ago, the party will occur in one of the towers in town, on a floor large and open enough for such gatherings. It's been decorated to the nines, each corner devoted to one of the gods and their respective colour combinations (iridescent silver, pink and purple, red and white, blue and gold), with the central zone focused on Havenwell itself, a spread of tables with food galore, and an elaborate showcase of events and instances where the newcomers have helped the city, all displayed through edible arrangements: sad fork robots saved by the arrival of sliced-meat and fruits in the shape of people; tiny grape spiders breaking through a wall of cheese and crackers, fought off by celery-soldiers; a handful of cookie-people cuddling and sitting cozy or kissing. It's all very fancy and delicious enough that they've clearly put the work in to show their appreciation. They will of course urge everyone to eat and enjoy, no matter how fancy it looks. It would be terrible if it all rotted and went to waste. Once a sufficiency of food has been consumed, the tables easily move aside to make room for a dance floor, if people feel so inclined. There is a band of local talent playing a curious blend of synth and orchestral music, their style shifting suitably between fast and slow dances, so there should be a little something for everyone in attendance.

What is the dresscode for such an event, you might ask? Well, on paper the locals have stated that anything is fine, since it's your party, but the gods (not without their own sense of humour) have other ideas. Plenty of their accomplishments this year was fueled by you, but they also brought you here... thus, a few days before the party, you might find a package on your doorstep, seemingly delivered by one of the animal familiars of your god of choice. Inside the package you'll find one curious thing: the equivalent of a glamour prism, a curious bauble that could easily fit into your pocket and that alters whatever you're wearing into a single outfit that the glamour is programmed to display on you.

What outfit it is... well, that's your choice! There is no universal style. The only stipulation is that it is not a style of this world, and it is not dangerous/magical beyond the glamour's effect. The outfit feels real, and can wiggle/move/flow in the breeze as it normally would, provided the glamour is active- so rock that cat-eared beanie, roll with that floor-length cape. It can be an outfit from the character's home closet, a style of your world or another's, a fancy suit, or something silly like a dragon kigurumi. If you're not sure if what you can acquire is allowed or would require modification, please ask in the question thread below.

If your character ends up with an outfit they wouldn't wear to the dance, never fear- you can still wear whatever you like! But those gods and their critters can either be easily offended or love a good gag, so the glamour might find itself on your person in some way during the party, inexplicably active. You can deactivate it, throw it away, whatever- somehow, it just keeps finding its way back to you. Might be best to just roll with what you're given.

EXTRA: Characters who first arrived in this world last year might remember the Ribbon Games that were occurring in the month of their arrival, and this tradition has been brought back once again- both the temple portion, and the challenge at the party. Feel free to play with this in your prompts if you wish, though it is entirely optional!

PROMPT I: He's royalty. He's got this! .... Someone find his handlers ASAP!

[Everyone knows the saying 'like a kid in a candy shop.' Today, in Havenwell, the candy shop is a clothing boutique and the kid is a 30-something king, but the effect is exactly the same. Regis' eyes are all but glowing with excitement as he sorts through the racks of clothing in one particular corner of the store. With a few exceptions, it is a very black corner of the store, but that is exactly the reason he is so excited.

How often does one find their own brand of clothing in a store after all?

...Okay, fair. Kings may have it happen more often, but as black is restricted to the royal family and their retainers on Eos, it's not something that has ever happened to Regis before and he's thrilled.

He is not the only one who is thrilled. Not far away, he has his own contingent of paparazzi. One that grows rather regularly, but who can blame them? This particular offworlder doesn't seem bothered by their presence at all. Why he even appears to be putting on a show if the drama each time a piece of clothing particularly catches his eye is any indication.

After a while, though, it's not enough to just look through the clothing. No, Regis needs to see people in it as well, which is when anyone passing nearby suddenly is in danger, because he has no shame in grabbing people--whether he knows them or not--and holding clothes of various Gothic varieties up to them.]

Have you ever thought about just how good you would look in a purple, suede, skull-print shirt? Is it too many skulls? Is this better? It just has one on the back!

PROMPT III:

A:) A King he is; a Fashionista he is not.

[When Regis arrives to the party, he looks respectable enough. Before he had discovered the boutique with the Lucis Caelum line of clothing, he'd just been planning on wearing his full regalia even if parts of it were starting to look worn after a year of various use. At least his crown, where it rests behind his ear for the first time in months, is still as shiny and bright silver as the first day he arrived. New clothes for a new year, with one tie to the past one to remember it. It seems a good balance all and all.

Of course, Regis hasn't forgotten the little glamour prism that was left for him. Oh, he had been delighted when he tried it out the first time. It's such a ridiculous outfit, but it brings back such good memories, and Astrals, he really had loved that jacket. Meanwhile, he is certain the others loved seeing the whole thing burn at the end of their adventures and not just because it was covered in malboro goo.

Some people just don't understand fashion when they see it.

Every so often, if someone looks his way at just the right moment when he has the outfit on, they may catch him strike a very...familiar looking pose.

Well, familiar if you know what disco is. For better or worse, Regis does not know what disco is.]


B:) To a Kingdom Rebuilt.

[As the party wears on, it perhaps, is no surprise that Regis finds himself a quiet spot in Ainea's corner of room, glass in his hands. It's hard to believe a whole year has passed. A whole year of trials and tribulations, joys, laughter and loss, though, ironically enough, despite her loss, Regis can't help but feel Aulea is closer to him now than she was before she passed. Is it just he is more aware of her place in his heart now that he has lived without her at home as well as here?

He sips at his drink, eyes distant, mind jumping from one thought to another. Thinking of Aulea makes him think of Cor who, noticeably, is not present at his side as he usually is. His love is so troubled right now and it's frustrating not knowing how to help him patch things up with Lup and with Honerva. In fact, he even feels a little guilty that he is still getting along fine with them. Should he try to act as a moderator or should he just stand back and let Cor move at his own pace learning the path to reconciliation one step at a time as he had learned how to love the same way?

Questions spin through his head, and as they do, he catches sight of Peter moving through the crowd. No matter how many times he's caught sight of his fellow king this night, he's still thrilled that Peter put in so much effort to find such a Lucian outfit for the party. At least there, something is going right.

Trials and tribulations, joys, laughter and loss for one year. The same going to the next. A sign that life continues no matter what disaster rages outside the now expanded walls.

Regis raises his glass toward each corner of the room, ending with Ainea's where he stands. A toast to her and them all.]

[Another glass joined Regis', edges just barely touching in a soft chime before Peter took a drink from his. When had he gotten there? While Regis had his back turned, of course.

Which was considerably harder than it usually was seeing that he was dressed a little bit differently. It was completely different from everything else he'd ever worn, but it was tailored to fit him in exactly the way it should. At least, according to Cor. Peter still wasn't all that sure about it. The only thing familiar on his person was his crown, but that wasn't familiar to anyone else since he hadn't worn the thing since he'd arrived. It was heavy and ornate and while it had never fallen off his head before, Peter had a deep seeded childhood fear of it doing just that.]

Hello, my love.

[Ah, was that where Peter was off to when Regis caught sight of him earlier? To get a drink? In either case, Regis is quite pleased to have Peter at his side once more. He finishes the sip he was taking from his glass and then doesn't hesitate to put an arm around his fellow king's waist, pulling him closer.]

Goodness, I must have dozed off in a corner. How can it be that such a handsome man is calling me 'love'? It must be a dream.

[He chuckled, allowing himself to be pulled in against the other man.]

Dozed off, hmmm? Shall I prove to you your awakeness, or shall I leave you dreaming....

[He winked, the sly gesture only adding to mischief in his smirk.]

[OH MY GOD WHAT THE HELL IS THAT? Is it purple leather? Also what is the weird skull shape on the design? Okay maybe some designs with skulls might look cool but not like that. Cloud just......stares at it. With horror.]

Are you really telling me I should try that on? [Ewww no.]

[Regis tilts his head, looking from the blonde man to the shirt he is holding, his expression what can only be called that of a confused puppy.]

You don't like it? Oh! Are you more of the shirtless type? There are some leather jackets back over here.

[And there he goes. Off to another rack without even waiting for an answer.]

No, I just don't wanna w- hey, where are you going?! [He follows Regis to the rack.] Look, I'm not interested in this crap! I'm fine with what I've already got.

III A

[Sometimes the world and the gods bless him with excellent timing he absolutely cannot say no to. He'd been fiddling with his communicator and scanning the crowd for something to do while Pyra dances with someone else for a while, and he'd been just about to head over and say hi... and then his dad does that pose.

Regis should hear the telltale digital click of a camera going off, and if he looks off to the side he'll find Noctis lowering his communicator after having captured the moment, grinning like the little shit that he is. He himself is dressed in a trim black suit and dress shoes to match, accented delicately with a handful of embroidered skulls and golden buttons, with a slanted half-cape pinned at the shoulders, similar to the cape he (and Regis) adopted as part of their royal raiment.]

What the hell are you wearing?

[When Regis hears that familiar camera click, he almost doesn't respond to it because he's become so used to it over the last few weeks, then Noctis calls out his question and Regis turns his head, meeting his son's shit eating grin with one of his own.]

You obviously need a better view if you are reacting that way. Why, this is the height of fashion! From about 12 years ago, but...

[He shrugs.]

Now mind you, fashion is a subjective thing, so if you ask Cor--lets say--he might not agree.

Sorry, Dad, I might have to side with Cor on this one.

[Not to say that he's never worn some weird things, but he does take modern fashion seriously more often than not, and this is distinctly Not That. It is very... Regis, though, and he can't be faulted for that, even if it is photo-worthy.

Actually, speaking of. It's rare to see one without the other in public.]

[If he lingered on his own thoughts too long, Ardyn could almost picture a woman in white across the room, smiling and laughing with others as she should have been--an image that made him feel a myriad of complicated emotions he wasn't quite ready to address. Nostalgia, sadness, a deep sense of missing a vital piece of himself...and yet, tonight he didn't quite feel entirely lost to the usual despair that took permanent root in his mind.]

[While not quite the most outgoing figure, he stood a little straighter and more confidently in a very un-Lucian white, bright hair tied back a little more neatly than usual. Not quite the image of the king chosen by his people, but something more than he'd been in the past months.]

And to you as well, Your Majesty. [His own glass appeared in his hand in a flash of red crystal, slow and hesitant smile coming to Ardyn's face.] To a recovering realm, both here and elsewhere.

[There is something in that hesitant smile that makes Regis forgo the usual polite response to such a greeting. Instead, he dismisses his own glass into the Armiger and steps toward Ardyn so he can wrap his free arm around the redhead's shoulders.]

[At the second 'here,' Regis taps his now empty hand over his heart. If his thoughts have drifted to Aulea more than once this night, there is no doubt Ardyn's have drifted to Aera as well.]

That last one is the hardest, but you seem to be doing fairly well tonight.

Oh...I think I'm alright. [His own glass vanished again, arm around Regis in turn.] Well enough, for the moment. This is...actually quite nice, after all.

[ Honerva's wound up with an elaborate outfit, in a style that might be familiar to her, less so for others. She hadn't quite intended to stick with it, and she's got a backup outfit on underneath in case this one gets too weird, but as Lup often encourages, she might as well own it, and so she does.

With this party being so large however, comparatively, to ones she'd experienced prior, she's certainly wallflowering to an extent, though she nods a greeting toward Regis when their gazes happen to meet during his toast of sorts. Cor's absence is certainly notable, though she too had spent most of the previous month hidden away, only to put all her efforts into celebrating the twins during this one. ]

[Regis has to admit he is relieved to see Honerva's greeting during the toast, so when he is done, he makes his way over to her with a warm smile on his face.]

Good evening, Honerva. Is this outfit a style from your home? If I may say, it's quite beautiful.

[Is it...okay to compliment someone your fiance is having a rough time with? When did this whole romantic thing suddenly become more complex than most of the relations he has to deal with as king are?]

[ Compliments will always be surprising and difficult to her no matter who offers them, though really the more difficult part in this is that he'd immediately drawn attention to the question of origin, which she hadn't been prepared for. ]

Ah, good evening, Regis. [ Her ears lower slightly, even if her greeting to him is warm otherwise. ] Thank you. It is a style I have not experienced in some time.

[ Oh no, this might just be matchmade in heaven because Yuuji's clueless as fuck and what are clothing??? All he wears are parkas and t-shirts! ]

[ Skull prints... he's never thought of it but he likes what he sees. And uh, what's suede...??? goes unsaid because he's kind of swooped by this guy's enthusiasm right now. ]

[ He does take the shirt on his hands, eyes glimmering at the sight of fancy skulls over the black tee. Damn, these are the kind of stuff he wouldn't wear himself - it just never crossed his mind. ]

[ Did he say buttons?! So the buttons will have the shape of a skull or something?! ]

Yeah!! That's like, hard rock, right?!

[ Does he even know what he's saying, no.

Tbh he was here in this store because he was running out of clothes and was just gonna grab a random cheap parka when he chanced upon this energetic man! And now this... it's kinda fun?! He's definitely having fun, the guy's energy is so contagious! ]

[ Dressed in black, she lifts her drink to him in kind. Taking it as an invitation to come join him, she approaches with a easy smile. ]

So formal...! You look as if you're about to deliver a speech.

Well, I have given my fair share of speeches, but I will spare you from that fate. Few of them would do anything other than bore you.

[He returns her smile with a warm one of his own.]

[Ardbert sees Regis coming for him out of the corner of his eye with purpose, and he turns to offer him a greeting, smiling. Instead of a hello, he finds a shirt thrust up against him instead. His brow furrows and he just stares at it for a moment as his brain catches up to what was asked.]

I... don't believe I have. [Ardbert looks up from the shirt to Regis with a warm chuckle.] Why so excited? It's a shirt.

[The last sentence is said with jest.]

[Regis over-dramatically puts his free hand over his heart. Two can play the jest game.]

This is a Lucis Caelum limited edition! It is more than just a shirt.

[He's not at all okay with the number of paparazzi milling around. He'd come into the store in the hopes of getting away from them! But he is drawn to the black, Gothic style clothing. That is very much up his alley. So while he objects to be grabbed, he can't argue with the shirt being shoved at him.]

Purple's not really my thing. But I like the skulls. Does it come in black?

[Take a look at him. He is dressed head to foot in black. Black is his only color. (He will also settle for a shade of gray.)]

Would you like some pants with skull buttons to complete the look? These only come in black. Oh, and there is a skull on the back pocket as well. I completely missed that before!
