Cor made a point of getting to the tower early so he could make some preparations, setting the table for the full family. Even Will is coming and that is so strange. Cor has never once in his life had a +1 for any kind of event. Yet here he is setting a table for nine instead of eight.

The prep work had taken weeks of going over the correct textures and tastes with the research team, something Ignis had taken on the bulk of the work for while the others worked on the wall. Still he was confident that they were close enough to get a solid match on many foods, leaving some of their bet recipes only very slightly off from the originals. Cor had taken over rolling a large selection of sushi as well as a light starter soup. Some of the more robust recipes had been Ignis' purview but, if nothing else, Cor is an efficient prep cook.

All in all there's a pretty spectacular spread when everyone arrives, something for everyone and a familiar Altissian berry cake for dessert.

Noct's been great, though. Her mercat was left behind, so I have that. And I steal the dogs as often as I can. Just try to keep busy, you know?

[He's imagining a mermaid only with a cat head and front legs and he's not sure if he wants to be right or wrong on that.]

Keeping busy. Yes, that is something I am good at, at least. Perhaps I'm too good at it, but just thinking about it and wishing doesn't accomplish much, does it?

No. It's supposed to get better with time, I guess. Not sure how long that's supposed to take though.

[He's seen a lot of strange things in his day, but this? Q-lulu sounds like something else completely. Besides, he loves cats and she is at least part one.]

I suspect the time it takes is directly related to how strong the love is.

[Which isn't exactly good news for either of them.]

[He huffs and tips his head back.]

Well... [He draws a breath.] That sucks.

[It wasn't that he wanted his love for her to fade - that would never happen - he just wanted it to stop hurting so much.]

If you ever need to talk about it, I will be happy to listen.

[He looks across the room to where Noctis is speaking with Lunafreya.]

Or, if it is easier, continue to talk to Noctis. I know you two are close. Holding it inside will only make the pain hurt more and I know neither of our loved ones would want that.

[He turns his gaze on his best friend across the way.]

Noct's been great. But now that Luna's here, I don't wanna drag him down with that, you know?

Yes, I understand what you mean more than you might think. I was thinking about that when Ardyn spoke with me earlier. He has Aera here now and so much else on his shoulders. I don't wish to add more to that. Especially when he should be spending time with her.

[Regis suddenly laughs.]

As long as he can keep up with her, that is. I don't know where she finds all the energy.

[He expected some push-back, but he's pleasantly surprised when Regis agrees with him.

I'm not so sure he can. She has all the energy. He has none. I think it balances out somehow.

[His eyes drift back to Noctis and Lunafreya, though at the same time, there is something distant in his gaze. Almost as if he is thinking of home as much as seeing his son and Luna.]
