♥ November (Malom) Event Log

November (Malom) Event Log
With most of Havenwell left in varying degrees of shambles from the prior month's catastrophe, the city seems just a little bit more quiet and stony in ways not just owed to the chill of oncoming winter. However, the gray mood doesn't need to last; the offworlders and locals alike might just be able to band together to pick up the scattered pieces before long.
Unlike previous years, winter is approaching at a slower pace than usual. Whether this is believed as coincidence or the gods opting to give the city more pleasant weather while the reconstruction is ongoing is entirely up to each individual. Nevertheless, the sun is out and there is work to be done.
❥ PROMPT I: Fetch Quest Frenzy

With the widespread damage of the previous month still a large issue, offworlders may find the marking-based powers of that incident manifesting again in different, passive forms. Regardless of the color one's ability takes, a little bit of trial and error will lead the markings' bearers to understand the powers are now geared towards helping rebuild or rehabilitate the city in various ways; examples being manifesting as telekinesis to move heavy objects around, or a magical compass to help locate something lost in the chaos. Some may find themselves inexplicably filled with knowledge previously unknown, Matrix-style: characters who have never picked up a hammer before will suddenly possess the skills needed to rebuild furniture or repair structural damage, weld parts together, or get really good at organizing search parties. Feel free to get creative with it, but these abilities are meant to build, not destroy like last month, so destructive powers are not likely to manifest unless for good reason.
There's no shortage of work to be done either; from dismantling petrified worms to running errands for the surviving locals, offworlders may find themselves lucky to have the supernatural assistance of the markings and their powers. With time and effort, taking up such tasks to aid the locals and fellow offworlders alike might just go a long way towards healing Havenwell on both physical and emotional fronts.

❥ PROMPT II: Fruits Basket

In places where the worms were slain before their fellows were petrified, their massive corpses have been reclaimed by the ground--specifically, they've turned to surprisingly fertile soil. So fertile that it would appear trees are already sprouting where they fell, bearing an arrangement of oddly-shaped fruits. With how delicious they look, one would surely be forgiven for daring to try them, but the result might be just a bit surprising...
-Eating a round fruit will make one have a sudden desire to cuddle up to someone else; the more of the fruit they've consumed, the more insistent the desire. Just take a bite? Maybe you could do with a light shoulder touch, but eat the whole thing and you'll realize you might be suddenly looking for some big hugs with anyone receptive to the idea.
-The square shaped fruits have a somewhat more subtle effect. The more one eats of a square fruit, they gain a steadily more obvious gentle glow and warmth to their bodies. With enough of one, someone could easily turn into a combination nightlight and comfortably warm space heater.
-Being curious enough to eat a spiky fruit will end up with one having some trouble keeping their footing; this fruit leads one to find no traction underfoot, sending them slip n' sliding around. Be careful, you might just skate right into someone's arms!
-Eating a star-shaped fruit may cause a gradual drowsiness, where residents will feel the urge to lay down and have a nap. Seems the aftermath of the worm attack left some lingering magic. (A small percentage may alternatively find themselves transformed into sheep. Weird.) Being held or gently cuddled, whether on the spot or while being carried home, will reverse the effects.

❥ PROMPT III: Corporate Concessions

You might recall that the research towers were awfully unhelpful during the attacks, preferring instead to seal themselves up in protective shielding and leave the rest of the city to fend for themselves. Now that the danger has passed, there have been some understandably divisive responses to this decision from their fellows. Many of the tower workers have pleaded ignorance for this choice, openly (or quietly, to avoid disciplinary action) blaming the higher-ups for creating company-wide lockdowns and not allowing anyone in- or out. Many were helpless to assist in relocating friends or family, and some have quit their positions over this stance. Those in charge of the decision-making are unapologetic for the most part, stating that due to previous security breaches, their priority was to protect their research and their employees, for the greater good of the world.
They are aware that doing this was not by any means a good look, so as an olive branch, they have released the research materials confirmed as stolen in the previous security breach to the public network, as they have been unable to track down those materials and would rather control its distribution themselves. Damage done, after all; those who know could pass it on as they please. Additionally, they are reallocating some tower resources to helping with restoration and rebuilding the surrounding areas and public buildings, and have donated a substantial amount of dora to the city budget for whatever purpose the council deems appropriate. Whether you think the released data is true or if their efforts are sufficient is up to you, really.

This event will run from November 15-30. Click on each prompt's title to see the text. If you have any questions, feel free to direct them to the FAQ or to the Mod Question thread. You can also use the Havenwell Status page or the General Plotting Comment to give you other ideas for original prompts!
honerva; ota
[ Given the state of the city Honerva might be encountered at times doing her part in assisting, even if there's some internal discomfort in certain aspects of it on varying levels for her. Still, she is yet more likely to look toward others and their needs first should some be struggling or confused at their "new" abilities. Need a guiding hand or help making maneuvers? She can do that too.
(a) While she does not like to take the forefront in directing others, some just seem to find their way to her or might be directed by even the other citizens to ask her for clarifications, as she seems reasonably able to identify certain metals or components which might save an extra step when it comes to organizing. If you are standing over there looking confused, worry no more for you can now be directed.
(b) Someone might encounter her after seeing her speak gently to calm some of the more frazzled residents still dealing with their memory issues, not having involved herself too deeply before despite encouraging others, but now seeing it right to at least offer her part to get a better sense of what was happening there. While she's able to help keep them calmer and grounded until someone they trusted was able to come back after dealing with other matters, there is some strain in her composure by the end of the shift, though she might very well try to deny it depending on who asks or who knows her too well. ]
❥ ( II. a little parfait; )
[ Come on by to Affurgato, where it's mostly business as usual, with the weekend dine in and weekday catering on requests. After the chaos of the last month, priority has been placed on making it once again a safe and cozy area for those to visit. The cats of course will be pleased of snuggle company.
Most should know what to expect by now of their services, unless you're newer in town, in that case welcome, have an ask about it - most people either go in to put an order at the inside window and find their own seating, or wait for Honerva to come by and greet them if she is available to provide that personal greeting. If she knows you well she already might have an idea of your order in mind, but she'll always ask a preference.
That said, the menu is befitting the month - "Malom" as the natives refer to it as. There is one new addition to the menu for a bonus gimmick; with the appropriate warnings that they are not responsible for any side effects that might occur, cafe goers are welcome to order the fresh fruit parfaits and see what happens. You know, just for a change of pace and some "safe" if optional ways to alleviate the ongoing stress of the situation. ]
❥ ( III. research open season )
[ Sometime before the previous attack, Honerva had issued her own text message with warnings and concerns. All of these, of course, still remain relevant in the aftermath of the actual attack, and there's certainly been a lot more food for thought to be had since it was all put out there.
That said, she certainly has her thoughts on the new information, even if she doesn't have it all out there just yet for anyone to peruse, but those who might recall her words and inclinations might find her approachable to answering questions or coming up with a few more. There might just be times when she's at a table in the cafe with her various devices and looking in thought instead of serving, for instance, or seen making some inquiries -- but then again, she'd much rather have others take the forefront on such actions as much as she may direct with ideas.
So by all means, have a seat and join her in her corner while she compares notes of past and present - or well, she can't force someone to stop by. Maybe it's just an accidental bump into instead. ]
❥( wildcard )
[ Feel free to mix and match from above or come in with something else that we've talked about or wanted to follow up on! HMU by PM or plurk if needed and feel free to change format if you like. ]

Upon approaching the area where the destruction was being cleared, he bent to pick up more metal girders and beams than he'd have been able to before, but a quick glance around wasn't terribly enlightening as to organizational structure. Still, he did see Honerva in the distance and made his way over.
"It appears I've now been gifted the physical strength my genetic composition denied me," he said wryly as a greeting, with a grin. "Might you be so kind as to tell me where these materials would be most useful?"

I've also seen souls possess others. I could see them being able to fill the empty space of a robot. I think what confuses me most is how they managed to let the soul free in the first place without simply killing.

noctis lucis caelum | ota
[His markings seem to have manifested into a set of… well, they're basically tetris blocks, interlocking in a multicoloured pattern up his right arm. A bit weird, but he's rolling with it. It's helping him with the organization of parts and reconstruction, which is more weird for him, considering the organization of his disaster life is usually Ignis' job. He's probably also really annoying whatever poor robot is trying to oversee the reassembling of rescued synthetic parts. He keeps reaching over people to snag bits and bobs.]
No, no, this one goes over here, with this set. Think it's still missing a server component, though.
( II: fruit roll up )
[Long-time residents of town should probably know better than to eat strange foods, but the affurgato parfaits looked tempting enough that Noctis goes for it. The cute star-shaped dish is consumed in no time at all, and before long he's laid out on one of the cafe couches, and at least two cats have curled up on him. He's going to rack up quite the bill if he stays there too long. Someone might want to help wake him up.
Also: he might be a sheep. 50/50 chance on that one, he might end up this way a few times.]
( IV: wildcard )
[During the last week of the month, Noctis will be mostly in the orbit of Ainea's temple, which is unusual for him, looking pretty stressed while trying not to be. Might need a little stress relief, though thankfully Umbra is walking with and keeping a careful eye on him, making sure he eats and rests enough to get by. A little reminder for self care would do him good, though- he's still recovering.
Alternatively, hit him up with anything else! Noctis is around town as usual. Gentle reminder that he now has a glow under his shirt similar to Pyra's crystal, now!]

Nico di Angelo | OTA
[The food here can be hit or miss. But food from trees can't be bad. It's natural, right? Natural and free. Two for two.
Round. He doesn't go seeking affection. Usually the opposite. Normally, he doesn't like being touched. But suddenly, he finds himself wanting...something. (Hug? Hand?) And unsure how to go about asking for it. Here's a boy feeling very awkward and maybe standing a little too close.
Star. Nico always feels drowsy - he's not even bothered. It's the being a sheep that's got his feathers ruffled....or his wool fluffed, rather. He supposes it's better than being turned into a flower. At least he can move around and make angry noises at people. If one of those people looks familiar, this small black sheep will bump his head against their legs.]
[ At the Temple ]
[Throughout the month, Nico can be found in any of the temples, observing the rituals as residents pray to bring back the souls of those lost during the attacks. He sits a respectful distance away, and if one were to sit close enough, they might hear him quietly following along.]

Unable to do anything to help, she focuses instead on ensuring Regis is comfortable as he sleeps. With the worsening chill of the oncoming season Era brought a cozy blanket along with her, carefully tucking her human father in, warm and snug, hoping it will keep any aches at bay.
"Hello Da," she greets upon each and every visit, knowing full well it does nothing except make her feel better.
"Your plants are very happy," she reassures him needlessly as she reassures herself with a check of his pulse. "But they'll be happier when you wake up. So— make sure to wake up, okay?"

Kyoko Mogami | Skip Beat! | ota
Kyoko had helped with the city's various off and on rebuilding projects pretty much since she first arrived in Havenwell, and she didn't think twice about volunteering again now, even before she noticed something was a little different this time. While she'd always been happy putting her efforts into menial tasks, this time around she found herself drifting away from the fetch quests and attempts to carry things that were way too heavy for her in favor of picking up some actual tools. And then she actually knew what to do with them? Huh?? Without hours of study and mistakes? Huh???
If you happened to be in the area when Kyoko was helping with building repairs, she'd be easy to find, beaming and humming to herself with an almost obnoxious glee. In idle moments, you might even catch her twirling tools and passing them between her hands like a cheerleader's baton.
II
Even with her mysterious new skills, hard work leads to growling bellies, and sometimes the lunches she packs just aren't enough to tide her over. Still, it's not like she's gonna just eat a random, never before seen fruit. She's been here long enough, and eaten enough random, never before seen food items, to know there will almost certainly be consequences. No matter how much that charming star-shaped fruit or the cute, plump round ones call out to her, she... she can't possibly be stupid enough to eat them right?
Right??
No, she's definitely just been standing here admiring them indifferently for the past few minutes. That's all.

II........... let's attempt to eat a fruit.
But she is also kind of admiring them, and that's. strange. isn't it? Are those fruits actually bewitching? Is she sincerely contemplating taking a bite...?

Katsuki Bakugou | My Hero Academia | OTA
[Bakugou has ignored his own markings, because his quirk should be enough and he doesn't trust abilities that are given to someone, especially without training. Despite his reluctance, he is assisting with searching for spare or missing parts, going airborne with his explosions to save time and carrying a hard drive in his mouth to keep his hands free until he lands.]
II
[Normally, Bakugou wouldn't eat suspicious fruit, but he's angry at himself for all of the lives lost. He should have done better as a hero in training, and he's been pouring himself into helping repair the city, skimping on sleep and forgetting to eat breakfast. His stomach growls loudly, and he makes a face before deciding fuck it.
He takes a bite out of the round or square fruit, pick your poison.]
III
[When he's not helping out with repairs or not eating suspicious fruit, Bakugou is sitting in a cafe and pouring over the information that was leaked. He shoves his bangs out of his face as if that will help him digest the information better, his expression becoming more and more intense.]
What is this shit?
