Vianca...
was in a pickle.
She'd mostly gotten kind of used to being in Havenwell, some deeply pushed down emotions about her predicament aside! Ha ha ha who wanted to confront what happened when it was time to leave robot land not this Pikmin. Not right now. Possibly not ever.
So with that thought good and properly buried, and her starting to feel a bit more comfortable in this new space, there were some things she wanted to work on. If Havenwell's weather was going to continue being so... that for the time being, she really ought to have multiple tools at her disposal! Her actual pikmin form afforded her more options, though this winged version was still new. Flying was still something she was gradually figuring out. So during some of the days where she didn't really run into anyone, Vianca dedicated to practice.
...It was kind of fun! She hoped it was okay to think it was fun. She could buzz around now! She could reach so many high places! Wow! Amazing. Real good.
The pickle Vianca found herself in was that after some of these practice sessions, she... couldn't turn back into a little girl. No little girls here. Just soda can sized plant bug.
With no mouth for speaking.
And she hadn't really. Told anyone yet. She hadn't really meant to keep it a secret, she just wasn't sure who would mind or not yet, and. Well. Maybe that made it a secret by default but. This had never happened before.
Oh no.
Oh no???
So anyway there was a strange, little pink creature buzzing around Havenwell now. It kinda looks like a Pokemon? It kinda looks like a bug? It's got a flower? What the heck! You might catch it buzzin' around looking for... something. Or the wind might just blow it right into you. Gosh.
[[NOTES: As always I'll match whatever format you want to post in! Characters particularly sensitive to plants or different kind of energies might not know its Vianca just from that this way, but if they meet her now and then meet the little girl version later... wink wonk. Here was a series of quick nods, and a pleased sounding hum. This little plant was oddly more expressive than Vianca the little girl usually was. Compensation for not being able to actually say anything? Definitely. Feeling a little lighter without the constant thought that maybe everything was just a mask? Maybe a little bit of that too.
no subject
"Well, you're sure not upset about this. So is this normal for you? Or are you just happy to join the vastly superior world of people who can fly? Er . . . nod once for the first and twice for the second!"
We can get this down to a science.

Magolor was nice too. It was okay, if he knew. This was just fine. It was just! A nice head pat!!
Focusing on better things like answering questions, Vianca gave one! (1!) Nod!
no subject
When she nods, he nods back. Yes! Working out this whole communication thing! Hey, she communicates more than the Lor ever did, and that had never stopped him from talking to it. It may even have encouraged him to talk to it more . . .
"I thought so. You're in a good mood! You know, I would be too. Being human-shaped seems pretty overrated to me, not that I have any experience."
no subject
She let out a thoughtful hum. There were definitely some complications that came with human shaped, and things she absolutely still struggled with as a result, but. If she had just stayed a Pikmin forever, there would have been so many things she wouldn't have been able to do!
Not to mention she probably would have been eaten long before now. That couldn't be overstated.
His opinion made a perfect amount of sense though, since he could already do any of the things that she would have wanted to. Her wings gave a little buzz, and Vianca pointed at him. See, they were talking about you. She held out her arms in a wide fashion, making a drawn out hum. 'Big.'
Then she pointed at herself. The next motion was tiny, pushing her hands towards each other as this hum came out short and a little higher pitched. 'Small.'
no subject
"You're saying I can get away with it because I'm bigger than you are? You probably aren't wrong there. Being small has its advantages, but when everything's built for someone bigger . . . "
Which it is here. He's used to planets where people are more around his size.
no subject
That wasn't the only thing either. Sure, Magolor was doing a very good job of deciphering her, but it didn't always go this smoothly.
She pat her hands against her face where a mouth could go, making a despairing little sound before slumping down a touch dramatically to express even more disappointment.
no subject
He is on a roll. To be fair, it's easy enough when it's this straightforward. By now it's obvious that she can't speak, and that must be why; he has to assume she photosynthesizes through her flower as far as eating goes, but honestly, that also seems like a shame. Eating is fun!
"I've got some friends without mouths, but I always thought it seemed like a shame . . . "
And—
On a whim, he unbuckles his scarf and pulls it down so Vianca can see his face. Why not? It doesn't matter much here. He'd still rather keep it on the downlow from the humans, but it's easier to show it to a person like this. With his face exposed, Magolor smiles cheerfully, all sharp teeth in his too-wide mouth.
no subject
The fact that Vianca was mostly sure they weren't to be better at gobbling her up was as troubling as it was something she could feel accomplished about. She'd been trying to be better about jumping to those conclusions, back at the academy. Still though. Chompers.
Out went her arms again, with that drawn out hum for 'BIG.'
no subject
He giggles—even out of that mouth it's still just as small and cute.
"Right, right. I could fit you inside! Just kidding. I'd never do that. I've got my reasons for keeping it quiet, but they don't matter all that much on this planet . . . but you know, I'd hate to interfere with my own image, and I like my clothes, so it is what it is!"
no subject
After that motion though, Vianca just nodded along. She could understand having reasons. There were guesses to be made, but Vianca didn't actually know enough about Popstar and its inhabitants to make a guess of why Magolor would want to keep that covered up. Oh well. She was good at keeping secrets though!
Even when, you know, it was even a possibility for her to spill them.
There was a budding feeling of frustration at not being able to properly respond though. As soft-spoken and tight lipped as she might have been as a girl, those were choices she actively made. She could choose to speak up or more often if she wanted! But as a Pikmin...!
Tall as it might have been a moment ago, her flower stalk was drooping low now as Vianca heavily rest her head on her hands. This looked suspiciously like a pout.
no subject
Magolor's batting a thousand in interpreting Vianca's body language can't go on forever; he has no idea why she's pouting now unless maybe she doesn't like when people joke about devouring her whole. Weird, huh! He pats her head again with his glove, gentle, avoiding the flower. It feels natural to be careful about it, maybe because of enough time spent with Ib.
Unbuckling his belt and adjusting his scarf down was easy one-handed, but he needs both of them to buckle it back up, so he lifts her up to sit on top of his head instead, freeing up his hands. It's fine, she'll have his ears to hold onto for balance, right?
"One sec. Hang on tight!"
no subject
Whoa!!
With a squeak she grabbed on to one of those very convenient ears, giving it a big ol' hug as he got his aesthetics back on point.
no subject
"Ready to come down, or would you rather go for a ride? . . . Just grab my hand if you want down."
no subject
Eventually, little hands latched on to his. Vianca hoisted herself back on to that surface, singing songing a 'hm hmm!' as she went. Down was fine and dandy, please!
There was still figuring out how to express her problem to contend with. She thought she might have had an idea, but that required a few more charades.
no subject
Oh right, he knows.
"So, library?"
no subject
Yes! An affirmative squeak. The library! Very Good!
no subject
He winks. Like it's some great wise leap of logic to take Vianca of all people to the library. He has actually not even thought yet of letting her type at him, and is only assuming that books will make her happy, as they tend to do. Even the sad e-book versions, poor girl. And so Magolor heads in that direction, at a quicker clip than he did the time he was guiding her there when she first arrived. He knows the way by now.
no subject
... maybe,
Anyway off they went! Vianca settled in, gently holding on to Magolor's mittened thumb. As they went along, the pikmin softly started humming a more musical venture.
There was a song that Goofy kept singing, and it might have been slightly stuck in her head.
no subject
"When you get your mouth back, I'm dying to hear about how this happened! Can you do it on purpose? Did you get stuck this time? Get ready for all this and more after the commercial break!"
no subject
There was an encore of the exclamation point flower going on right here, right now! No need to wait for commercial breaks to end, Vianca whipped her head around to nod rapidly with a whole bunch of squeaks. Yes! That! Exactly! You were very good at this, Magolor!!
She was stuck!!!
no subject
"Wow, that sucks!"
His pleased tone perhaps does not make these words sound sympathetic, but he doesn't say it unkindly either.
"Has this ever happened before? Nod or shake, you know the deal."
no subject
It did in fact suck, as the cool kids said.
And it hadn't happened before! Which super sucked! She shook her head with a withering sound.
no subject
At least he sobers a little bit at that. It's more something to think about for him than anything deeply concerning; concern is a thing Magolor has to take a little extra effort to dredge up out of the depths of his heart. It'll all work out fine, he's sure. But that doesn't mean it isn't an issue now.
"Then it probably has something to do with this planet. We might have to approach the natives about it if it doesn't clear itself up, hmm?"
no subject
It having something to do with this particular planet hadn't been something she'd considered. She stared at him for a moment as she thought about this, lifting her hand up to where her mouth would have been to hold her face. This... would make sense, since this place seemed to have such a particular set of rules. Final Destination's rules were
all items set to on, frequency highthat rules were flexible. So, if she were to think about Havenwell's rules specifically...
With a sudden hum that was very suspiciously like an 'aha!', Vianca held her hands up to point at him. Then at her. And then- get ready for it- she gave herself a little hugging motion.
Yes? No? Maybe?
