[Could Magolor have done this over the network? Of course. Maybe people would have appreciated that more. But that's not how he chooses to go about this: over the network, he'll be easier to ignore, and that's no good. And over the network, he can't give anyone any earnest handshakes or touches on the shoulder to contribute to his bank account, I mean, the wellbeing of this planet! Praise Diacht!

So instead of ringing up the populace to ask for their input, he's doing this old-school.

Upon leaving their houses today, anytime between midmorning and late afternoon, any character is subject to being hunted down and approached by a perky little hovering alien with a clipboard and pen in his hands. He's pretty fast in waving people down, and pretty relentless:]

Helloooooo~! Won't you spare me just a moment? I promise not to keep you! You'll be glad you did. This is for the good of our community, and I can't do it without your help!

[He at least sounds and looks very earnest about this, like a bright-eyed canvasser on their first day on the streets.

Or maybe it's something else. Maybe you've seen him lurking out there for hours now and want to give him an earful, or like, a snack or something, which would be much appreciated. Maybe you have some bone to pick with him. The world is your oyster! He sure is making himself obnoxiously visible.]

[Nope. One hundred percent no. Magolor instantly realizes he should have expected this, though he rallies.]

Now, no need to be that humble! There's nothing at all you miss about home? I'm talking about lifestyle, not people, let me be clear. I doubt I can make any requests for the wife and kids.

That makes it easier, seein' as I don't have 'em.

[Still, he makes an effort, cupping his chin with one hand, cupping his elbow in the other.]

Hmmm... lesse... warm grass to nap on! Yep, I love takin' a good nap in the royal gardens. And I love fishin' on the river, too!

[These he jots down. He really is making a game effort on this; it's not the kind of work he can fake doing, or would benefit from half-assing. Sometimes you really do have to dedicate yourself genuinely to drag the whole situation up.]

I'm hearing plant life a lot. I really take this city life for granted more than most of you . . . but that's why I need this survey!

[Aaand he's distracted.]

You used to live in a city?

I've lived in all kinds of places! But my home planet is about as mechanized as this one, so I had a long time to get used to not seeing any trees or flowers. Not that I'm excited to go back to that, mind you. These days I like a good green view as much as anyone.

Aw, then you should see if you can come to my world! We got lots of green stuff! Why, the royal gardens stretch on forever!

[On one hand, going out of his way to visit Goofy feels like resigning himself to a vacation full of idiocy. On the other hand, Magolor regularly goes out of his way to visit Kirby, who isn't exactly on a higher level than that, and so at this point in his life he really should just learn to accept that that's what he's about, at least sometimes.

So he smiles.]

Maybe I will! Where do you live? After getting off this planet, I'm sure I'll want to take a nice long garden vacation myself.

It's in the Disney Kingdom! That's where me and all my pals live! The King, the Queen, Donald, the chipmunks, Jiminy Cricket...

[He flips to a new page, not near the others, to jot that down. Why not?]

Never heard of it! But the Lor'll be able to find it. What's that you said? Pals with the king and queen? You've been holding out on me!

Why sure! I've been friends with the King since before he was a King... and I'm Captain of the royal Knights!

You? Really?

[Again, why is he even surprised? Pop Star has doofier knights. The King himself is about on Goofy's level. And yet! He shakes his head as if to clear it, waving one hand.]

I mean, you're such an easygoing guy, it's hard to picture! Though you did help save the universe, hmm? I shouldn't forget that and underestimate you.

[He just continues to smile, never insulted.]

It's not that I like fightin'... more like, it's gotta to be done to keep people safe, y'know?

Right. I feel the same way! I always just wished everyone could get along without having to resort to violence, but you don't always get a choice in the matter. There's always someone disrupting the peace out there.

[That person has been Magolor before, but at least that was a while ago at this point, and even back then he would have still said this with all sincerity—as he does now.]

It takes a smart king to appoint a knight who doesn't like to fight.

Aw, the King is the best! He's really smart and brave, and the best pal a guy could ever have!

[He could go on forever about how much he loves Mickey, if one lets him.]

Hehe, you'll have to introduce me if I come visit! I've never gotten to meet a smart, brave, friendly king before . . .

Aw, you two would get along real well! Why, there's almost nobody who doesn't get along with the King!

I'd like to think I'm easy to get along with myself . . . it's important to be personable when you travel as much as I do. And I just love meeting new people and seeing new places! I promise not to embarrass you when you introduce us. ♥

[Not saying it NEVER happens, but really, how often can a guy named Goofy feel something like that?]

[That sounds like a challenge. But more realistically, even Magolor, who also almost never gets embarrassed, can sense that he'd probably end up embarrassed before Goofy did . . . ]

I did have that impression from you. You seem like the kind of guy who lets everything roll right off your back.

[he offers a smile and a shrug.]
