In the heart of the entertainment district, closest to where the majority of residents live, a new building has opened up- in theory, that is. There is a sign across that door that reads "opening soon", and the curtains are drawn across the window to hide its contents, but those passing by might catch a glimpse of things here and there. A stack of cups on a table, a spread of colourful fabric, a cat perched in the window, staring back. Hints of what's to come. Today, beneath the existing sign, hangs an extra: "closed for private party".

Attendees of said party will find the interior still very much a work-in-progress, but it has the signs of obvious progress. The business is set up as a cafe, the walls painted warm shades of browns and pinks, cat toys piled in the corner, synthetic trees and shelving along the walls for climbing and exploring. The central area is peppered with blankets and pillows all gathered in a pile, and beneath them a series of connected sofa cushions forming the "mattress". One table is set up as a work station of sorts, with paints and various construction supplies laid out, though for tonight it's mostly abandoned.

Another table is decorated with snacks and dishes, mostly finger food and sweets for easy eating; it all smells delightful, with varying recipes to indicate that the chef has been experimenting on which to choose. Many of them are decorated with animal motifs: cut-out cookies in mammal shapes, tarts with icing whiskers, cat-eared quiche. The coffee drinks too will have simple shapes drawn into the foam when ordered. The alcoholic drinks will probably not, but they're smooth and cold and are made for fun more than aesthetic, anyway. A variation of old-school or modern pop style music plays quietly from wall-mounted speakers, loud enough to be heard but not overwhelm. Two cats wander about the premises, introduced to the party-goers for those not in the know as Ditto and Kova. They're friendly, but be gentle!

Before things get going, Lup lays down a few ground rules:
1) respect the animals, and do not feed them!
2) respect the other people here and definitely feed them
3) if you make a mess tell her, that's what magic is for
4) have a good time, yes this is a rule
5) profit? maybe? you get paid for cuddles here, get drunk and go nuts

[ It's an excellent start at crafting a dragon figurine, she thinks. Would that she could join in. ]

Saying it like that, almost makes it sound like you saw him as a child.

[ She frowns slightly, remembering the first time she saw that form. ]

...His true form was too large to travel with me. This one was more practical.

[ Her eyes widen in surprise. Did she hear that right? Traveling with the Father of Dragons in her world?! ]

That's incredible. [ She's impressed, certainly, but also worried because why was this Father of Dragons traveling with her. Or... maybe she should be happy? It seems like she had a traveling partner, but Pyra doesn't know the circumstance, so. She shakes her head. ] Er, I mean... also... ah, practical! [ A small smile. ]

He was incredible. He flew from his ruined star and through the void of space for so long that the fire of his magnificent mane went out, all so that his unborn children would have a chance to live in a peaceful world.

[ She begins adding detail to his small hands. ]

Hydaelyn allowed him and his children sanctuary on my world in exchange for his protection, and thus a covenant was born between the Mothercrystal and the Father of Dragons.

[ How wondrous it would be to witness something like that, of a dragon flying through the stars to another world.... ]

And then after... you traveled with him in his smaller form. [ She won't ask for what reason, although she is curious. Instead, ] Have you seen him since then?

No. When he wakes again I will be long dead. [ She frowns, then shrugs her shoulders. ] A mortal life is but an eye's blink to a dragon.

...I am so sorry.

[ She replies softly. ] Was he like family to you? [ This, she wonders for what Era had mentioned of him making a covenant with the Mothercrystal, and that Hydaelyn had granted him sanctuary. ]

There is naught to be sorry for. It is simply the way of things.

[ And yet another shrug of her shoulders. There is much she could say, but little she cares to share with Pyra. ]

He was a guardian.

[ The reaction seems to pain her; she is empathetic to all loss, whether or not she knows them. ]

You share the memory of him with a statuette. That is kind.

I merely wished to carve a dragonet, and his form is the one I am most familiar with.

[ She comes around to the table, smiling happily as she looks from Era to the carving so far. ]

Look how formed he is already! You're very talented.

[ Still uncomfortable with compliments, Era defaults once more to giving a small shrug. ]

If I was not skilled with my hands I'd've been dead long ago.

Then, is crafting a hobby you've picked up aside from survival?

No. [ she glances at Pyra, clearly baffled by the question. ] I've no time for hobbies.

[ She blinks. ] This woodcarving isn’t a hobby?

[ What does that mean... it’s just based on survival skills? But it’s so good already! ]

Carpentry is useful for crafting basic shields, arrows, bows, a myriad of other weaponry, and enchanted accessories.

...That sounds are if you’re preparing for war.

[ Esteem can't help but snort at that, though Era at least manages to maintain composure. ]

I am at war. Just because I have been torn from it does not mean my heart is not with my comrades upon the battlefield.

[ Hol up ]

Is this dragonet you are carving... going to be a weapon as well?

[ She looks at the figure, made from material too small and oddly shaped to have been a proper combat-ready weapon.

Still, she can think of various ways to weaponize it as it is, and even more were she to make a few minor adjustments. ]

It can be, though it would be of little use in war. For self-defense it would be suitable enough.

Maybe.... making weapons is your hobby? It can be one here, if nothing else.

Even if this place had the supplies for it, keeping myself armed is a necessity, not a hobby.
