Lady's Night Out! Or in, technically.

In the heart of the entertainment district, closest to where the majority of residents live, a new building has opened up- in theory, that is. There is a sign across that door that reads "opening soon", and the curtains are drawn across the window to hide its contents, but those passing by might catch a glimpse of things here and there. A stack of cups on a table, a spread of colourful fabric, a cat perched in the window, staring back. Hints of what's to come. Today, beneath the existing sign, hangs an extra: "closed for private party".

Attendees of said party will find the interior still very much a work-in-progress, but it has the signs of obvious progress. The business is set up as a cafe, the walls painted warm shades of browns and pinks, cat toys piled in the corner, synthetic trees and shelving along the walls for climbing and exploring. The central area is peppered with blankets and pillows all gathered in a pile, and beneath them a series of connected sofa cushions forming the "mattress". One table is set up as a work station of sorts, with paints and various construction supplies laid out, though for tonight it's mostly abandoned.

Another table is decorated with snacks and dishes, mostly finger food and sweets for easy eating; it all smells delightful, with varying recipes to indicate that the chef has been experimenting on which to choose. Many of them are decorated with animal motifs: cut-out cookies in mammal shapes, tarts with icing whiskers, cat-eared quiche. The coffee drinks too will have simple shapes drawn into the foam when ordered. The alcoholic drinks will probably not, but they're smooth and cold and are made for fun more than aesthetic, anyway. A variation of old-school or modern pop style music plays quietly from wall-mounted speakers, loud enough to be heard but not overwhelm. Two cats wander about the premises, introduced to the party-goers for those not in the know as Ditto and Kova. They're friendly, but be gentle!

Before things get going, Lup lays down a few ground rules:
1) respect the animals, and do not feed them!
2) respect the other people here and definitely feed them
3) if you make a mess tell her, that's what magic is for
4) have a good time, yes this is a rule
5) profit? maybe? you get paid for cuddles here, get drunk and go nuts

I merely wished to carve a dragonet, and his form is the one I am most familiar with.

[ She comes around to the table, smiling happily as she looks from Era to the carving so far. ]

Look how formed he is already! You're very talented.

[ Still uncomfortable with compliments, Era defaults once more to giving a small shrug. ]

If I was not skilled with my hands I'd've been dead long ago.

[ Artistic and trained in... combat? Sleuthing skills? She doesn't know, but she seems to be talented in a great many things. ]

Then, is crafting a hobby you've picked up aside from survival?

[astralera]

No. [ she glances at Pyra, clearly baffled by the question. ] I've no time for hobbies.

[ She blinks. ] This woodcarving isn’t a hobby?

[ What does that mean... it’s just based on survival skills? But it’s so good already! ]

[astralera]

Carpentry is useful for crafting basic shields, arrows, bows, a myriad of other weaponry, and enchanted accessories.

[iustaegis]

...That sounds are if you’re preparing for war.

[astralera]

[ Esteem can't help but snort at that, though Era at least manages to maintain composure. ]

I am at war. Just because I have been torn from it does not mean my heart is not with my comrades upon the battlefield.

[ Hol up ]

Is this dragonet you are carving... going to be a weapon as well?

[astralera]

[ She looks at the figure, made from material too small and oddly shaped to have been a proper combat-ready weapon.

Still, she can think of various ways to weaponize it as it is, and even more were she to make a few minor adjustments. ]

It can be, though it would be of little use in war. For self-defense it would be suitable enough.

Maybe.... making weapons is your hobby? It can be one here, if nothing else.

[astralera]

Even if this place had the supplies for it, keeping myself armed is a necessity, not a hobby.

What do you enjoy to do, Era?

[astralera]

I will answer your question if you do first.

I... sorry?

[ She blinks at her. Where did this come from? ]

[astralera]

I have told you before that you ask and ask, yet never offer any answers in return. If you cannot answer, why should I?

[iustaegis]

Oh!

[ Aaah, the tone had merely surprised her. ] You hadn’t asked any questions... [ She lifts a hand to her cheek, her tone apologetic. ] But, mm. Cooking is a hobby of mine... [ Did she think she didn’t have hobbies? It’s far, far more worrisome to Pyra if Era has none. ]

I am no good at cooking. How do you account for such a paltry offering of ingredients?

[ Era has nothing she would truly consider a hobby, but if it's merely things she enjoys then she supposes all that she does is a hobby. Improving herself and her skills, so that she might better perform her duties and protect others. ]

I enjoy dancing. It helps improve combat ability.
