I don't know if I'd discount it like that. You can have all the god-bonding you want, but if you're not physically capable of giving them what they need, they're gonna have to find a different source. Supply and demand, y'know? Even gods have an economy.

I'll agree that it might be weird for them. We don't even know what species they used to be before they became what they are now. Hell, if it's been long enough they might not even remember.
