Aside from Emerald and Topaz the next most common Carbuncle is Ruby, aspected to fire. Anything beyond that is dependent on both how advanced one's training is and, more importantly, how innovative they are.
My brother, Alphinaud, for instance, is one of the foremost experts on applicable arcanima I know. If he found a catalyzing gemstone with an innate alignment to another element he could easily create a Carbuncle moulded to use it.
Currently his favoured Carbuncle is made using a moonstone and is not aspect to any one element. Instead of attacking it provides beneficial effects to targets of my brother's choosing, and augments his own healing magicks.
I am most skilled at infusing my Carbuncle with only three of the six elements: wind, earth, and fire. I no longer use gemstones as a catalyst, but fragments of elementally aspect aether I have absorbed from Primals I've slain.
In theory, I could augment Carbuncle with ice, lightning, or water aether, but I did not have... [ Have the time, she meant to say, but trails off as she once again comes to a point in her memory where she stumbles. What made her not have the time?

I would have need of crafting other constructs first, ones called egi. I cannot do that here, as I would need visit specific areas in my own world...
