Having him lean back like that is reassuring, though. He gives a breathy little exhale, something kind of like a sigh of relief filtered through this particular affliction, and lets himself lean a little more heavily into Kai's shoulder.

"Thank you," he says softly. For sticking around, for keeping an eye on him in the first place... he is not shy about passing out the gratitude today, it seems, but wanting Kai to hear it probably isn't such a bad thing.
