There's a softer smile, at his appreciation. Obon might not be a particularly special holiday for her personally, but the images even giving that sparse description of it had conjured up were a fierce reminder of home. Even if not everyone participated in a serious way, there really was something lovely about such an enduring, exuberant celebration of lost loved ones.

"Mm--yours sounds really beautiful, too. I think the sentiments really are pretty similar." But from there, she has to admit, just a bit of awkwardness coming into her smile, "Since the only relative I know is my mother, and she never mentioned her family much, I can't say I've had an opportunity to celebrate it myself, though."
