There was a frown at that cough--a small one, but she couldn't help it. Kyoko had hoped that little poke at him would set him at ease, let him know this conversation didn't have to be serious if he didn't want it to. She'd been giving him an out, an opportunity to derail into jokes and banter, so he could avoid the serious stuff without ending their conversation on a tense or awkward note. That path had been open to him, if he wanted to take it.
But if he did feel like airing whatever was troubling him... well, she'd meant what she said about that, too.
"Oh," she breathed. That... was a lot. "I'm sorry," she said softly after a moment, when she'd found her words. "Something like that... I'm sure there's no I could understand it. But... no matter what kind of life you have here, I don't think you should have to deny your ties to home."
