♥ Who: Megaera & you
♥ Where: Out and about
♥ When: December 5th through like, the 8th let's say.
♥ What: Arriving and settling in
♥ Rating: PG unless something goes exceptionally off the beaten path of expectation.
i. buddy system; Dec. 5th
[Megaera's first thought is that it is infinitely more graceful and relaxing to wake up on a slab of stone in a mysterious temple than it is to crawl indignantly out of the Pool of Styx. Her second thought is "Master Hades is going to be livid", but she hardly has time to worry about that, considering the strange metallic - well they look like Shades crafted by Daedalus himself but - robots, they tell her, milling around and handing her things and trying to explain themselves before she gets violent. Of course, her whip isn't with her when she awakens and it's a good ten minutes or so until she's satisfied the priests haven't taken it, but she's not helpless without a weapon.
It's slow going, almost half an hour before they convince her to leave and stop demanding answers about where she is and why, but eventually the priests calm her down enough to escort her out the door. They seemed infinitely relieved to hand her off to the nearest passerby.
"Here's your guide to Havenwell! It's dangerous to go alone, so be buddies!" The priest chimes quickly, before hauling shiny metal ass out of view so that Meg can't complain. Or worse, demand more answers.
You are now stood beside a tall, pale blue woman with a lot of facial piercings and one wing jutting from her right shoulder blade.]
Blood and darkness. [She puts one hand on her hip, turns to look you up and down in appraisal.] Please tell me this is some kind of joke.
ii. Diacht answer the aggressive blue lady challenge, failed immediately; Dec. 6th
[The temple of Diacht was mostly alien to Meg, but it was the only place she could feel even the tiniest thread of familiarity none the less. Between the metal-bodied natives, the complete lack of warring mortals, and the strange atmosphere of warmth and kindness, the faintest hint of a divine presence was sort of soothing. That's why she finds herself there again as soon as she's able. She stands before the altar, arms crossed, appearing fairly calm and contemplative.
Except...the way her yellow eyes burn, it could be reasonably assumed she's trying to figure out how best to kill the inanimate object. As though it has personally transgressed her. After a few minutes of tensely contemplating trying to break it in half, Meg turns away from the altar and stalks towards the exit of the temple. She's had enough of praying and talking to inert stone.
Unfortunately she's not accustomed to adjusting her path - typically people dive out of her way - and promptly walks smack into anyone between her and the door, looking half surprised and half irritated at the interruption.]
iii. wildcard day; any time after her arrival on the 5th up to the evening of the 8th
[Wildcard prompt! You can pm this journal, message me on discord @ rad shiba#3388, or contact me on plurk (
runebranded) to plot or you can just hit me with whatever! Meg should be wandering and looking at settling into an empty home, or standing in the temple of Diacht, trying in vain to contact literally any divine entity that will tell her how to proceed. She's also liable to start exploring soon after arrival, so anywhere is fair game.]

[ Her gaze shifts toward the altar. ]
There is no a good answer for it of course... beyond that it is desperation, that determines our being brought here, not suitability.
no subject
You seem like you've made peace with that. Have you been here long?
no subject
For a measure of time, it has been well over a year, which also marks when the first of us were called to this place from other universes. The native citizens as they are have yet been incapable of producing the energy the world requires to renew itself. Outsiders are a better chance for that, in theory.

Megaera sighs and closes her eyes, trying to let herself adjust to the idea. If she just treats the act of giving affection like a skill that can be learned, she'll be fine. Probably.
... ]
I'll admit I'm at a loss for how I should proceed, then.

[ Her ears give a little flicker of disapproval at that, but otherwise, her tone remains pleasantly mild. ]
As for what you might do... that depends on your interests. Perhaps there is something you may not have had a chance for that you might have time to do now, depending on what you may have been accustomed to otherwise. Or learning more about the world and its circumstances. Most of the time there are... few dangers, though there have been incidents. Although we sometimes find ourselves with personal difficulties as well. It would not be remiss to... build friendships or alliances with those you meet here.

Dear Gods she can sit down. That's what she'll do, she'll sit down and she'll have a drink and then maybe start looking for a roommate to share a bed with, since that sounds easier than wandering the streets asking people if they need a hug. Yeah, okay. It's starting to take shape. ]
This is going to be an interesting change for me to make. I've never had an interest in anything but my work, really. Any downtime is usually spent drinking with a friend who isn't here.
[ She pauses, thoughtful. ]
My name is Megaera, by the way. I hope I can count you among my alliances and friendships going forward.
no subject
I hope so as well. My name is Honerva.
[ At least Megaera had some grasp of what it meant to have downtime, limited though it may have been. ]
It is a familiar sentiment, as well as rather an abrupt adjustment to consider, for want of feeling purposed. You may find yourself with more downtime than you are accustomed to.

Good. Happy to have met you, then.
[ She looks back over her shoulder at the altar of Diacht. It seems less infuriating in it's silence now. ]
Honestly, I've had enough of temples and questions with no good answers for now. I think I'm going to go find a stiff drink and a soft chair. Maybe see about a roommate, or something to keep me busy.
[ Not...that she knows where to look for any of those things, really. ]

[ A woman of action, hard not to approve. ]
Although when it comes to finding a place to have a drink and a soft place to sit, I would recommend Affurgato. Our cafe should be open again in due time, if you keep an eye on your communicator for the advertisements... if you do not mind having the presence of small animals around, of course.

[ She glances down at the outline of the communicator tucked in the fold of her tunic. She's not certain she's ever heard the word "café" before, but it sounds like what she's looking for. She's curious about who else is included in the "our" part of "our café", but figures she'll get that answer when she visits. ]
Small animals are no problem. Quite the opposite, really. I used to help the bats in the Underworld care for their pups.

[ Of course, these are only suggestions; Megaera is certainly free to weigh however she chooses to proceed with her time here at her own consideration. ]
no subject
[ Cats, Megaera readily admits, she has little experience with. But she's not opposed to becoming more familiar with them.
The concept of so much freedom and down time is still very alien to her, but she can see herself eventually becoming used to the idea. Getting comfortable with a new role in a new place. Yeah, she can handle that. ]
I assume you didn't come here just to walk me through accepting my fate. I'll leave you be to do what you need to do, but feel free to stop by my place or reach out any time. And if not, I'll see you at Affurgato.
no subject
[ Really, this exchange has been a far better distraction than whatever she was attending here, but she recognizes that the other could do with some time and processing, all things considered. ]
I shall look forward to our next meeting, then.
