[ 1; morning, closed to housemates ]

[ Zenitsu thought he was prepared that this would eventually happen, but when he wakes up one morning only to not hear Tanjiro's usual sounds nearby, he still starts freaking out like usual. Those who live with him would definitely hear him shout and if they find him, he's looking nervous as hell. ]

Have you seen Tanjiro around?


[ 2; open, various parts of town ]

[ You would see Zenitsu wandering around the entire town, looking very nervous. He's still trying to recover from this morning as well as in the corner of his mind, he's hoping that his ears are playing tricks on him.

He's also probably very distracted, that he doesn't notice you at first. If you try to catch his attention, Zenitsu will instead jump in surprise. ]

Ack!! Don't scare me like that, please?!

[ The anxious nature isn't leaving him, it's clear that something is wrong, although Zenitsu is going to avoid talking about it. ]

I wasn't.

[ His sound has subtle rumbles of exhaustion and stiffness. And hey, the thing that's scared you? It's a frog with wings.

Megumi has one of his shikigami out. Ever since Itadori went home, Megumi always had a shikigami summoned every single day, no matter how little physical contact he engages, he carefully rotates between Divine Dog, Chimera, and The Unknown Well's Abyss. One of the frogs clings onto the taller teen's forearm while one is up close to Zenitsu's personal space.

He takes a good look at the other boy. Though they hardly talked, it seemed like something was rattling Agatsuma more than usual.]

... did something happen, Agatsuma?

[zapdope]

[ There's a part of Zenitsu's brain that's telling him he shouldn't bother talking about what's been on his mind.

But that part is very tiny that quickly goes away the moment he sees the frog with wings.

Frog.

With wings. ]

WHAT KIND OF DEMON IS THAT?!

[outlining]

That's not the point!! AND IT'S NOT A DEMON!!

[ The frog looks a little shock, it runs towards Megumi and clings onto his shoulder. Look what you've done. ]

[zapdope]

It's definitely a demon!! If not a demon, then it's a ghost!!! Frogs shouldn't have wings! It doesn't even sound like a normal frog!!!

[ Zenitsu's still screeching. It's proving to be a good enough distraction that he's acting more like his usual self, at least for the moment. ]

[outlining]

[ Considering Megumi hasn't ordered to attack and there's no cursed spirit on sight, the frogs just start moving away until they're hiding behind Megumi's back to shield themselves from the yelling. Now isn't that something new, Agatsuma's banshee screaming somehow managed to scare his shikigami.

Which is weird considering he has seen Divine Dog before. Megumi reaches out and grabs the blond's shoulders. ]

Calm down, they're not going to hurt you. I summoned them.

[zapdope]

[ Who knows why Zenitsu didn't freak out about the dogs. There were so many more things going on and the dogs were so passive that Zenitsu was probably too distracted to even notice.

Meanwhile, Zenitsu will keep yelling, although it's probably not to the screeching levels like how it was initially. ]

Why do you even have them out, anyway??? There's no reason for them to be out, are they?!

[outlining]

I need to regulate my cursed energy, and they're patrolling around the city.

[ His voice sounds increasingly frustrated and strained as one of the frogs lets out a sad noise before one starts to melt after another. Megumi's eyes started to narrow, his grip briefly falters before he focuses. ]

Why are you acting like this anyways? I didn't think they'd bother you this much since you've seen one of them before.

[zapdope]

[ Zenitsu's entire body stiffens and jolts as he watches the amphibians dissolve. Zenitsu understands well enough that they're not demons but they're still not normal frogs either.

He also picks up the other's sound change a little as well, although he guesses it's because the frog disappeared. ]

Well...I was distracted before! But anyone would feel anxious and lonely when their only... closest friend goes home all of the sudden, wouldn't they??

[ Zenitsu pauses for a second. He's not even sure if Megumi has seen Tanjiro's text message from a few months ago about his birthday. Did it even matter, though, now that Tanjiro left this world? If his own coma told him anything, the memories made here didn't matter much... ]

[outlining]

[ Megumi's hands become stiff, his breathing slows down as if he's momentarily frozen. Sure, he had seen Kamado's post before and him going on some over the top request to wish his lover a happy birthday.

He hadn't seen a hair of the scarred teenager since, however. He does know that he's apparently friends with Itadori.

Itadori.

There's a flicker of softness in Megumi's face, but he's lost for words. ]

[zapdope]

[ Now that he's talking his thoughts out and the other doesn't seem to be speaking up in response, Zenitsu continues with his ramblings some more, although now he's a lot calmer and without tears. ]

I mean..... I'm not sure if you've seen the network writing. We have been friends, he has been my very first friend, and then we became more than that? He's always had a different place in my thoughts because of his sounds, it made me feel safer... But now he's not here. It's kinda like I'm back to before I've met him, in a way.

[ His thought regarding memories keep coming back up as he talks. Maybe he shouldn't have agreed to get together. Zenitsu's all too familiar with feeling lonely, but because of the sudden departure, it only leaves a bigger hole than he first anticipated.

It sucks, dude. ]

[ Honestly, Zenitsu panicking and yelling is nothing new in this household. It's like the start of any other day.

Sasuke will soon learn this day is not like others. ]

Not this morning. Do you need him for something?

[zapdope]

[ Sasuke hasn't seen him. Zenitsu hasn't seen him, either. The sounds are also not here.

A sense of heavy dread starts setting at the bottom of his stomach like a rock. ]

...I don't hear his sounds anywhere in the house.

[ Zenitsu does not want to believe. ]

[ ... Damn it. ]

Let's look around Havenwell. He might have gone out early.

[ He doesn't know the range of Zenitsu's hearing, but staying here won't find Tanjiro. It's the best idea he has at the moment. ]

[zapdope]

But he'd usually wake me up? He usually lets me know where he goes? It's not like him to up and disappear like that?

[ Speaking all his worries out makes it even scarier for Zenitsu, and he starts trembling even more as he starts getting tears. ]

What if something happened to him?! I dunno if I should make a big deal about it?! What should I do?!

[ Sasuke pulls out his communicator. He hopes to get a message to Tanjiro and tell him that he's freaked out Zenitsu and to come back....

His list of contacts is a little shorter than before. Sasuke goes through his message history. Tanjiro is still there. His name is greyed out.

Sasuke's torn between staying silent and bitterly laughing. Of course.

He starts walking towards the Ainea Temple instead. ]

[Nico had been walking, like a normal human being, when he saw Zenitsu doing the same thing. So he tried to do something else human-ish and say hello. Apparently, that was a mistake?]

I didn't even use my powers!

[zapdope]

[ That was totally Zenitsu's fault, so he immediately apologies: ] S-sorry!

[ He really needs to pull himself together. He takes a moment before speaking up again. ]

Sorry... I was trying to see if I can hear something so I didn't notice you there...

[wakemelater]

[Nico frowns, but isn't angry. He shrugs.]

It's fine. What are you looking for? [Listening for?]

[zapdope]

My... [ There's a pause. ] ...Well, I've been looking for Tanjiro. I haven't seen him since the morning. I couldn't hear his sounds in the house, so I've been trying to look around in the city...

[ Would he know that the tablets would be the easiest way to see if people are still in Havenwell? Not really. ]

[It wouldn't occur to Nico to look at the tablet either. He frowns.]

Is it unusual for him to take off somewhere without telling you?

[ She encounters him upon the steps of Diacht's temple-- not exactly where she would have expected him to be, and especially not as subdued as he appears. He usually is bright, smiling, and attentive. Right now, he seems... lost. ]

Good evening, Zenitsu.

[ Late evening at that, for the sun is just about to set upon the horizon of the shimmering barrier. ]

Watching the sunset?

[ A pause. ] May I join you?

[ After spending an entire day wandering around trying to pick up Tanjiro's sound, Zenitsu found himself at the temple, by himself. Sasuke had checked the phone to confirm that his friend's no longer in this place, not to mention Pyra herself had let him know how people can mysteriously and suddenly disappear from this place without a warning.

When he hears Pyra speak up he looks over, giving a small smile to greet. He's a little too drained to give the more cheerful (and noisy) demeanor he'd usually do. ]

Hi, Pyra. I was just spacing out, actually...

[ She takes her place beside him quietly. It's not like Zenitsu to space out, at least, not in this manner from what she knows of him. He's usually a fizzing, bubbling personality, bouncing and bounding onto the next task or person, smiling, jovial, and cheerful.

It's even rarer, still, that he would admit to spacing out. She expected a false smile form him, a brave face. Not... this.

But she appreciates it. If Zenitsu is not feeling cheerful, he shouldn't feel like he has to feel that way. ] Something on your mind?

[Zenitsu is loud in general, so it doesn't take Mitsuri long to find him. He seems so distressed, which immediately has her tense, but she gently pets the top of his head, trying to be soothing.]

Oh, no, I haven't seen Tanjiro-kun this morning. Do you think maybe he went out very early?

[Without telling Zenitsu? That seems odd, but... she'll believe this for the moment anyway! For Zenitsu's sake if nothing else.]
