Can we find that real answer?
♥ Who: Shinji & Good Friends
♥ Where: Anywhere between the community gardens and your house!
♥ When: Last week of August/Achtom
♥ What: Special delivery \:V/
♥ Rating: PG, probably. Will update if someone decides to have a pottymouth or something.
A whole summer of work has been put into the community garden from Shinji has paid off, and left him with a number of watermelons grown from seeds he had received right at the start of the season. How amazing...! Truly amazing. It probably wouldn't be too much trouble for him to just take them all home and make them last for a little while just snacking on them, but there's gotta be a much better use of these fruits.
He spends a bit of time on any day where it isn't i n c r e d i b l y h o t in the garden, looking over the watermelons so that he can figure out which ones are nice and ripe. It isn't a particularly hard task, so it would be nice and easy for him to be pestered by a passerby...!
Once he's made his selections for the day, all that's left is to distribute them. For friends of his who he may have the contact information for, but not their address, Shinji will send out a text message,
'Can I ask where you live?'
But for the rest of the people he'd want to see, if he knows where their houses are, off he goes with at least one (1) melon in tow. Knock knock! Guess who's here for a surprise visit!!
[[OOC: Feel free to assume Friendship if Shinji and your character have a fairly positive thread history, but if you're unsure, you can easily get in touch with me via PM or over at

But, for now, he'll leave the matter alone.
"There really are a lot," not like... a ton, but he looks the patch over again a little more carefully, as if to estimate about how many there are. Versus... how many he knows he wants to give away. Hm...! "I wanted... to give some of them out to people here. There should be more than enough for that, I think."
no subject
"Really? I think your friends would like that very much. The food here's not the best, so this should be a very welcome change."
He laughs a little. "And I know a gift coming from a friend is always nice."
no subject
"It would only really be enough for a treat, but... I do hope it's something they'd like." He's sure that no one would turn it down, but it would definitely be nice if it was, you know, an enthusiastically received gift.
He hums softly, turning a thought over in his head a few times before finally letting it go free into the wilderness. "Did you want to take one...?"
no subject
"Ah! I wasn't trying to talk you into giving me one or anything! I... I'm sorry if I came off as presumptuous!"
He hesitates, glancing to the side awkwardly.
"Ah, but... if you're sure, I ... would love to try a watermelon from your garden..."
no subject
It's not like he offered because Sougo was being pushy, because he sure wasn't! It boiled down mostly to having those extras, and wanting to kind of... share the good fortune, as it were.
"I'm sure, I wouldn't mind if you wanted to take one."
no subject
But Sougo does look delighted at Shinji's affirmations.
"Really? Thank you so much, Shinji-kun! Tamaki-kun is sure to love having some watermelon!" Ah, of course, his first thoughts are of sharing with Tamaki. "I'll be sure to let you know what I think of it too."
Sougo offers him a bright, almost ecstatic smile.
no subject
He looks really pleased about this, huh? Over something Shinji offered... that's a Lot. It's a lot to take in, and he's not entirely sure he's equipped to handle so much gratitude pointed his way from someone he doesn't know quite as well just yet.
So, instead, he focuses in on what else Sougo had to say with that offering of thanks. "Is Tamaki-kun your roommate...?" Someone he wants to share the treat with much be a pretty important person, he thinks...!
no subject
"Mmhmm. He's my partner. I'm pretty lucky to have him here with me. I think I wouldn't be handling anything very well if I were on my own."
It's a bit self-deprecating, but Sougo is still smiling, so he probably isn't upset about it at least!
"He can be kind of a lot, but he's a really good person."
no subject
"It's really nice... to have someone like that around." He's glad to hear it, sincerely. "I'm sure he'll really appreciate a treat coming from someone so important."
So, feel free to take one of these melons home!!
no subject
"It is. I feel very fortunate. Ah, but I'll be sure to let you know what he thinks of the watermelon. That way, you'll have someone's opinion that can't possibly be biased."
He sees you there, Shinji thinking that his friends will only say nice things because they're his friends. Sougo gets that mindset honestly.
no subject
But, even if that comment gives him a moment of pause, like he's not entirely sure if he's reading it correctly, he accepts it without argument. Thank you, Sougo, for that offer.
"I hope the two of you can enjoy it, either way." Even if jus because it's such a novelty in a place like this. With that in mind, "feel free to take your pick of any that are left here."
no subject
He wastes no time in bowing to Shinji with a very formal "thank you!"
But as he straightens, he suddenly seems to be struck with an idea. "Oh! You should come by sometime and we can pay you back. We don't have much to work with, but my hot sauce has been making things fairly palatable!"
no subject
"You really don't need to pay me back." Shinji's not entirely sure how much room he actually has to protest - Sougo seems really enthusiastic about this! And even if the idea of ?drowning his food in hot sauce? ?is that what he was implying he was doing? doesn't sound terribly appealing to him, it does make him wonder... "But... maybe Kaito or Kyoko-san would like something like that available...?"
Perhaps! He won't say 'no' to some spare sauce!
no subject
"Perfect! I'll find a way to bottle some up for you and send it your way. I really do appreciate this, Shinji-kun. And I hope you'll keep gardening and growing more and more delicious and beautiful things."
no subject
"Hopefully I'll be able to at least get more of these going next summer." The seeds from the melons should make that easy enough, as long as he's still here and has the time for more gardening. "Maybe I'll get lucky, and have some more things to work with too."
no subject
"I'll keep an eye out for anything you might be able to try growing. I know I, at least, would love to have some more fresh-grown produce around here."
