Though he doesn't comment on it, he lets that first statement sink in, giving a thoughtful pause as he regards the plant in his hands. The natives certainly seem to be thrilled with this new change of pace already, hopefully it will be a good step toward their goals.

He'd mostly been playing this whole thing by ear, relocating plants to places where it seemed like others had thought were appropriate, or places he happens to pass by that look fitting. It may not be a direct answer to her second question, but it at least leaves the opportunity for them to hang around each other a little longer open.
