Apparently, the highest temperature ever recorded on Earth was 56.7 degrees, back in July of 1913. It was recorded in America - California, to be exact.

While the validity of this record is challenged by potential issues with the reading, the mere possibility is still... pretty horrifying, if I'm being honest.
