With the coming of Lasra, there was at least one new shop opening its doors in the quiet bustle of the Shopping District! There had been a distinct lack of places to simply sit in that district, but look no further if you were searching for such a spot. There are warm lights on inside, with the sights of large, comfy chairs and couches beckoning from the welcoming windows.

At times, from the same windows, you can catch sight of a pink little girl sitting near the glass, thumbing through an honest-to-goodness paper book.

Walking through the door would earn you a soft greeting. Welcome to Petals & Pages~

Really? Who're the other two?

[The light is, in fact, perfectly harmless - it'll bob about a little as Golisopod pokes it, but it's otherwise fine.]

The friends we make are arguably more fantastic than whatever abilities we have, anyway.

[She shrugs, giving an embarrassed smile.]

Without wizardry, I doubt I would have met mine.

[And Guzma's doing just fine on that account.]

Two elves, y'might've seen 'em both around here - twins, I think? A brother and sister. Lup and, uh...Taako.

[Golisopod, intrigued, continues to click his claws through the light for a moment or two longer, before even he gets bored and lowers that big, meaty arm to his side to relax once more. He's fine with letting the humans talk - he has some meditating to do. Or at least he might steal a few minutes to take a nap...]

Heh...well said. I mean, legend has it, that even as far back as history can tell...big guys like him would appear before people like you n' me to most often help 'em out. S'cool, to think about, though I ain't no history buff by far.

[But certain aspects of history and science is neat, and even Guzma enjoys a good browse through social media to learn some cool facts and tid-bits about the relationship between humans and Pokemon that dates back sometimes thousands of years. It's incredible to think that kings would often be buried with their Pokemon partners, or that bones from the prehistoric times would be found among Pokemon fossils as well, defining a shared community between the two...when humans, as a whole, would be rather easy prey for some Pokemon.]

[Nita tilts her head carefully at that.]

Can't say I've met them yet... but I think I might have seen them.

[That 'mermaid tale' post on the Network she'd found was memorable, for several reasons of vastly different meaning.

Golisopod, meanwhile, can have his nap.]

History never stops being fascinating, that's for sure. Bonds like that are an amazing thing, especially when you don't speak the same language!

[Guzma shrugs. He's not a reader by any means, but will scratch the itch if he's bored enough, or the source material tickles his fancy. Something exciting, maybe a bit of horror...or informative to a specific subject he cares about.]

Well, this is...Pokemon and trainer don't understand one another, but we understand each other, yeah? Like...words don't gotta be said between you n' another person sometimes, and y'all still get what they're thinking, or feeling. Not all of it, but the gist anyway. S'kinda like that.

But at the same time, a bond between a Pokemon and its trainer varies, and it's real hard to put into words.

[Nita doesn't quite have the same reference frame Guzma does... but then there is Kit and Ponch. Even before Kit had been a wizard he'd mentioned being close to his dog, and some things don't change.

Even when everything else does.]

When you're with someone, day in and day out, working with them on a common goal or just because you want to, for the joy of it...

[Nita's looking thoughtful now, nodding once more.]

It's okay; I think I get it, or something close.

[The peridexis doesn't speak up in her head during this conversation, but it's listening all the while, thoughtfully silent as well...]

[Guzma winks, makes a clicking sound with his tongue, and shoots Nita a quick fingergun. Bullseye - you got it, tiny, it's a lot like that indeed. Sharing common needs, wants, and goals is the sort of glue that puts Pokemon and Trainer together. Not only that, but Pokemon help in all sorts of ways, too. They're indispensable for construction work, some use their aid in cooking and crafting...and others for transport. Ride Pokemon were all but established in Alola, after all.]

Not a hard nut to crack, if'n y'all got the gist of it. Pretty sure it's easier to figure out than all that hocus pocus y'all magic-y sort do, yeah?

[He snickers softly, then settles back against Golisopod and exhales, ready to restart his meditation, though with...perhaps a little less focus. It's fine, he's already feeling relaxed, and might get up in a few minutes to grab a drink or some lunch or something.]

[Nita snorts, but she's smiling.]

It's sort of an inverse, for wizards. When you can speak the language all Life understands, you have a common ground that way. You still have to make an effort to understand the life you work best with, though.

[That much, at least, doesn't change.]
