There are things far more important than one's own happiness. Even if your death would bring your loved ones grief, at least you helped ensure that they would live long enough that those wounds on their hearts would heal.

The salvation of my worlds has already demanded my life, and I have freely given it. If the price was my death, then I would pay that as well.

Though if the salvation of one Shard required my death... In my heart I would not hesitate, however it is not a price I could pay. I would need to forsake that one world to spare five others.
