[Is it weird that he has trouble believing that? He hasn't felt especially brave or inspiring recently. There are moments, sure. The attack at the wall, boasting his exploits to his father, experimenting and making strides with magic that he's been afraid to fail at for literally years. Taking those nerve-wracking (but ultimately wonderful) first few steps with Luna, finally finding the words he'd been holding back for so long.
There's still so much that needs to be done, though. So much he doesn't know. So much that terrifies him. He wants to learn magic; the path to doing so is in his hands, and he's scared to put it on and try. He wants to prevent horrible things from happening in the future; he's scared of what might not be preventable and won't ask what that future is.]
