It's Cake Day
♥ Who: All Ya'll
♥ Where: Prompto, Noctis, and Pyra's place
♥ When: backdated to October 25
♥ What: Birthday!
♥ Rating: PG at most
Another birthday party! A very chill, no-fuss, come as you are kind of party. If you know Prompto in any small or large way, you've been invited.
There's food over there, most definitely a cake, music. And if you're here, you better be ready to take a photo with a birthday boy.
Anyway, you know the drill.

No offense came through the response. If this was some sort of invitation of obligation it didn't make much difference to him. It would almost make more sense that way.

He glances back at the table. "Sooo, what'd you get me?"

Verstael hadn't planned on staying to see a reaction to his gifts. Nor was he particularly anxious about what Prompto would think. In his mind one was simply practical, and the other a bit confusing, and he figured that Prompto would see it similarly. As his eyes wandered back to the table, he simply pointed to the presents with the least effort ever put into their wrapping - namely, zero effort.
Perhaps this was why he got an invite. For gifts. Though Verstael figured if he was technically his creator, usually some form of monetary support was to be expected.
"One is infinitely more useful than the other." It was almost something of an apology, still having plenty of doubts about dolls. If someone brought Verstael a plush toy he'd certainly wonder about their sanity.

He picked the chocobo up and gave it a squeeze.
"Not quite a Charlie." Did Verstael remember their conversation about Charlie the Chocobo? "More of a Charles."

Prompto's reaction still registered as bizarre to him, and it was clear enough in his expression. He'd never been one to particularly hide how he felt - whether or not he was skilled at it, he rarely saw the point.
"I still don't see what you will do with that." He furrowed his brows. It had to serve a function. Perhaps he could understand a child hugging a toy. Children often did and believed nonsensical things. But Prompto was a grown man now. What, exactly, would it do?
no subject
No one was too old to hug a toy. But he had outgrown playing with them (mostly...), and he didn't need something to cuddle with when he was scared - a someone was better than a something, but he hadn't had a someone in some time.
"The multitool I get." It was useful and served a purpose - it lined up with the last gift he'd been given. The chocobo, not so much. "But why this?"
no subject
"I had recalled you mentioning it previously. It was a spur of the moment decision."
Had he stopped to think about it more perhaps he would have decided not to get it.

Prompto's head tilts, and his lips part in a bemused kind of smile. "So...it was impulsive? Non-logical? Maybe even emotional?"
no subject
He shot Prompto an odd look. Impulsive, maybe, but don't insult his logic muscles! Why would anyone even want to be illogical?
no subject
"Well, whatever it was...Thank you. I do appreciate it. Oh, and the tool."
no subject
"...May it serve you well." It was a well wish, at least.
