It's Cake Day

Who: All Ya'll
Where: Prompto, Noctis, and Pyra's place
When: backdated to October 25
What: Birthday!
Rating: PG at most

Another birthday party! A very chill, no-fuss, come as you are kind of party. If you know Prompto in any small or large way, you've been invited.

There's food over there, most definitely a cake, music. And if you're here, you better be ready to take a photo with a birthday boy.

Anyway, you know the drill.

"Had you been hoping I wouldn't?"

No offense came through the response. If this was some sort of invitation of obligation it didn't make much difference to him. It would almost make more sense that way.

He wouldn't be wrong there.

Verstael hadn't planned on staying to see a reaction to his gifts. Nor was he particularly anxious about what Prompto would think. In his mind one was simply practical, and the other a bit confusing, and he figured that Prompto would see it similarly. As his eyes wandered back to the table, he simply pointed to the presents with the least effort ever put into their wrapping - namely, zero effort.

Perhaps this was why he got an invite. For gifts. Though Verstael figured if he was technically his creator, usually some form of monetary support was to be expected.

"One is infinitely more useful than the other." It was almost something of an apology, still having plenty of doubts about dolls. If someone brought Verstael a plush toy he'd certainly wonder about their sanity.

Not the reaction he was expecting. Did Prompto not realize the tool had two dozen functions? It was the superior gift by every measure.

Prompto's reaction still registered as bizarre to him, and it was clear enough in his expression. He'd never been one to particularly hide how he felt - whether or not he was skilled at it, he rarely saw the point.

"I still don't see what you will do with that." He furrowed his brows. It had to serve a function. Perhaps he could understand a child hugging a toy. Children often did and believed nonsensical things. But Prompto was a grown man now. What, exactly, would it do?

Shelves were for books and files, Prompto. What were plush toys doing up there?

"I had recalled you mentioning it previously. It was a spur of the moment decision."

Had he stopped to think about it more perhaps he would have decided not to get it.

"I'd hardly go that far. It would be illogical if you had never mentioned such a thing and I chose it."

He shot Prompto an odd look. Impulsive, maybe, but don't insult his logic muscles! Why would anyone even want to be illogical?

Well, he didn't get thanked too often. That was something he had to stop and think of a response for. Perhaps a little on the formal side, but also a bit awkward. He wasn't very good at this 'affection' stuff.

"...May it serve you well." It was a well wish, at least.
