Super Romantic Perfect Date Time!

[Keith has been planning for this date for weeks now. When he couldn’t come up with anything on his own, he’d turned to the others on Havenwell, and had gotten some solid advice. It was hard to pick just one thing to do, so instead, he decided to go with all of the ideas at once.

With one exception.

After some investigating, Keith has discovered that it is possible to create a custom scenario using the VR technology. Perfect. He had sent Lance out of the house while he prepares that, then heads to the VR station to perfect the scene he wants for his boyfriend. Hopefully it won’t make him too homesick. Keith is terrible at dealing with tears.

He sends Lance a quick message, telling him to meet him at the VR station, and waits nervously, clutching a bundle of flowers behind his back.]

[Keith has been acting...strange the last few weeks. Lance can't quite put his finger on it, but he knows something is going on. And--well. It probably has to do with that message Keith sent out, that told Lance not to listen to it.

Part of him is fearing the worst. What was going on? Was Keith reconsidering their relationship? Did he decide that maybe he wasn't that into him after all? Still, the black paladin wasn't any shyer in his affections than usual, but...

After receiving the message, he makes his way over to the place in question. Maybe Keith wanted to try the new game everyone was raving about. Sounded like a fun time. He smiles as he approaches, seeing his boyfriend.]

Hey, you. What's up?

[Keith is nervous, and it shows probably more than he wants it to. He takes a deep breath as Lance approaches, giving him a shy smile. He doesn't smile like this often anymore, more open and relaxed with Lance these days.

Blushing fiercely, he holds out the bundle of flowers to him. It's an arrangement of random wildflowers that he'd picked carefully on his way here.]

I um... didn't know what was your favorite.

[the_tailor]

[Cue more confusion, until he pulls out the flowers. And... Oh. They're almost as beautiful as the blush on Keith's face. And damn, Keith usually is not one to blush, especially this fiercely.

He takes the flowers, smiling as he takes in the scent.]

All of them are my favorite now, Keith. Thank you... What's the occasion, though?

[Oh good, he likes them. Keith had taken a little risk, not going with red roses because he felt like they were too boring. These ones were happier, brighter colors, more like Lance. He exhales in relief at the smile on Lance's face, smiling in return.]

Remember I told you I owed you a romantic date? Well, it's a little late now, I know, but if you're up for it...?

Oh...! Huh, I didn't realize you were planning it. Wait, was that the message you sent out to people?

[It's...starting to make sense now!]

[Keith looks sheepish, nodding.] I was having a hard time coming up with something on my own.

[the_tailor]

I can see that. No offense.

[He chuckles and moves closer to kiss his cheek.]

So, what now?

[needmyspace]

[Keith smiles, relaxing a bit at this normal gesture. He wants everything to go perfect though, so... hopefully Lance can at least appreciate how much Keith is trying, like some of the others had told him.]

Now... I've got a simulation with your name on it.

[the_tailor]

Wait, seriously?

[Blink blink.]

Like, literally?

I mean, it's not literally a simulation of your name. That would be a waste of money.

[He snorts.]

[the_tailor]

Noooo, I just meant like... I didn't know you could get personalized simulations here!

Oh! [He laughs.] Yeah, you can. You just have to pay a little.

[the_tailor]

Awww. [He smiles.] Well, what are we waiting for then? Wait. Hang on...

[Lance goes over to the receptionist of the center, and asks them to hang onto his flowers for him. That done, he returns to Keith.]

Okay, flowers being looked after. Let's do this.

[That makes Keith chuckle, though he smiles in approval. Apparently Lance really does like those flowers. Good. He's doing good so far.

He nods when Lance returns, and leads him in to start the simulation. He closes his eyes as it starts, and is greeted soon enough by the calls of seagulls, the smell of sea salt, and the steady splashing of the ocean. They're barefoot in the simulation, soft sand beneath their feet.]

[The sounds and the smells are what he notices first, before he opens his eyes. It's...all too familiar, and all too real despite that this is only a simulation. When he finally opens his eyes, he gasps.

A beach. They're at a beach. A beautiful realistic one, and Lance just doesn't know what to say. If he opens his mouth, he might start crying.]

[Keith looks to Lance before anything else. He'd already tested it out before, choosing a beach of white sand and bright turquoise water. He isn't sure if that's what the beaches in Cuba look like, but it meets the generic tropical beach stereotype.

He chews his lip, looking at him nervously.]

Um. Surprise?

[the_tailor]

[It really is close enough.

Lance turns to Keith, and launches into a hug, pulling him tightly against him.]

Holy quiznak... Keith, thank you, thank you, thank you!

Oof-! [He wasn't expecting that torpedo hug, but smiles and wraps his arms back around Lance to hold him close. Another good sign. He's nailing this date thing.]

I'm glad you like it.

[the_tailor]

I love it. Holy... Dude, tell me we have swimsuits. We have to go swimming.

[He's just gonna give him a brief kiss and a grin.]

[He loves being the subject of Lance's affection, and he gladly returns the kiss. The beach is empty, its just them. He's not worried.]

What do you think you're wearing?

[the_tailor]

[A pause, and he looks down at himself. Then looks at Keith. And...oh. OH. Lance laughs.]

Okay, that definitely works. Looking good there. Shame you didn't go with a speedo, I bet you've got great thighs~

[Sorry, buddy, but he's going to tease and flirt. Lance ruffles his hair before immediately setting off in the sand, heading in the general direction of the water.]

[Keith is about to make a comment about how he's proud of himself for adding that detail, that it only cost a few more Dora to change their attire...

And then Lance gives him that one.

He flushes, scowling and sputtering as Lance ruffles his hair before chasing after him.]

Get back here!

[the_tailor]

Just try and catch me!

[And he starts running along the sand, laughing. Might as well start with a fun chase.]

You are such a pest! [Keith is laughing though, chasing after Lance. He's not used to running in the sand, and it's slowing him down, grabbing at his bare feet and kicking sand in every direction. Not to mention the sand flying up after Lance into Keith's face.]

[Haaaaah. Take that. You're on Lance's turf now, bro.

Still... Well, maybe he doesn't mind getting caught. So Lance ends up slowing his pace a little, not obviously, but just enough to give Keith the opportunity to catch up.]
