With the coming of Lasra, there was at least one new shop opening its doors in the quiet bustle of the Shopping District! There had been a distinct lack of places to simply sit in that district, but look no further if you were searching for such a spot. There are warm lights on inside, with the sights of large, comfy chairs and couches beckoning from the welcoming windows.

At times, from the same windows, you can catch sight of a pink little girl sitting near the glass, thumbing through an honest-to-goodness paper book.

Walking through the door would earn you a soft greeting. Welcome to Petals & Pages~

There! You see! I'm your elder, so it's definitely my responsibility! [ Triumph!! She clenches a fist. ] Zenitsu-san! Pick something you want!

Ehhh???

[ Since when were they competing? For what too?? Zenitsu's so confused. ]

U-uhm...is there dango here?? [ Still confused!! ]

[daikonrose]

[ Kyoko holds herself high and opens her mouth, ready to declare her intentions to buy this boy some dango!!, but then she freezes. ]

Ah... I have no idea, actually. Come to think of it, there aren't a lot of places selling food to start with... it might not exist here yet.

[zapdope]

[ Oh...... Zenitsu looks obviously disheartened by that. ]

No dango...? How about sweet rice cakes? Or maybe even some ohagi?

[ He'll probably name all other sweets he can think of...which none probably exist in the world yet. ]

[daikonrose]

[ Kyoko is also disheartened, now that she thinks about it. She's been so busy missing good quality ingredients for her daily meals that she's barely even thought about sweets, but now the cravings are suddenly kicking in. ]

No... I haven't seen any of that. Not even dorayaki... I'm sorry, Zenitsu-san. I got your hopes up when I can't deliver....

I-it's okay...

[ Zenitsu's definitely bummed out though. None of his favorite foods are here. ]

I'm okay with trying something else? [ Maybe...nothing scary though! ]

[ She shakes her head sadly. ]

I'm sorry for myself, too. I don't really know what kind of culture these natives had, but even cooking at home, I can't make much real Japanese food. My soul is so hungry....

[zapdope]

[ Zenitsu's also about to feel bummed out at the lack of Japanese food as well... Until he remembers something. ]

Oh... My friend might be able to make something? He's given me a rice ball before, and it was real tasty. I think if we can at least get ingredients, we can ask if he can make something!

Oh yes, there is rice, at least! Thank goodness, right? I think I would have totally withered away by now otherwise. But a lot of the other staples are missing, as far as I can tell.

[ But this is the second time he's mentioned this friend, and it catches Kyoko's attention now. ]

Your friend... you said his name is Tanjiro? Is that who you mean?

[zapdope]

[ The mention of his first ever friend's name perks Zenitsu up just a little. ]

Oh, have you met him already? It's probably obvious, but he's super nice! He's probably more clueless than I am, so I hope he wasn't too much of a trouble though...

[ Okay! Finally! A good topic! ]

Yes! Just once, but I happened to run into him recently. I think he was trying to sell me his tablet. [ This is not accurate. ] But he's a nice boy! Good for you, having a friend like that here!

[zapdope]

Sell you... [ Tanjiro... bro........... ]

Isn't it only usable by its owner? I really hope he's still not trying to sell it off, that's way past dumb.

[ Even with technological advancement, Zenitsu knew enough from the robots explaining that that the tablets at least were only operational by its owner. ] How much of a country bumpkin is he!

No... his understanding of its nature wasn't even at that level, yet. [ She doesn't wanna sell Tanjiro out here, but.... ] But I think I explained it well enough that he'll know what to do with it now! He advanced very quickly, all things considered!

[zapdope]

Did he think he'd get money just by selling it or something? Sorry you had to deal with that, he is quick to pick up on things, but he can be dumb as heck too...

[ Complimenting and dissing in the same breath. Why's he making girls worry anyways! ] He shouldn't bother girls like that! He just doesn't get it sometimes...

[daikonrose]

[ Her hands go up in mild protest as she shakes her head. ]

It wasn't a bother! [ It was a little bit of a bother. But in retrospect that doesn't feel important! ] Besides, it's the duty of old-timers to help out new people! Don't think anything of it.

[zapdope]

[ She's saying that, but he does pick up from the sounds that it was at least a teeny bit. He gives a small frown at that. ]

Well... If you say so. If Tanjiro does give you a hard time, [ most likely not, but JUST IN CASE (???) ] just let me know, okay?

[daikonrose]

That definitely won't be necessary. [ What kind of problems could Tanjiro possibly give her that would require calling in help? ] Please put it all out of your mind. --Um, and for now, this is pretty shoddy of me, but could you accept an IOU for some sweets? Just until they exist, or the ingredients to make them exist....

[zapdope]

[ His stubbornness that knows no end, plus trying to help out anyone even when they're not asking for it. ]

Oh, yeah! No worries! And it doesn't have to be dango or anything like that, if you find anything that's tasty let me know! I'd love to try them!

[ And you know, spend more time hanging out with new friends and stuff. ]

I'll keep you in mind for sure! [ fist clench ] We Japanese food appreciators have to stick together in this foreign land!

[ Or when Tanjiro eventually loses his shit and decides he's going to start cooking like a madman... ]

It's a promise!! [ She will pay Zenitsu back for his kindness! Somehow! ]

Ah, anyway, if Vianca-chan's not here, I should just let you get back to reading... Jeez, I ended up interrupting you for a long time!

[ The feeling is mutual, Kyoko! Zenitsu will try to gift you with some food or random trinkets that will remind him of her in the future... But in the mean time, ]

Oh, did you need me to relay something to her when she's back? I think I'm going to be here for a while longer, so if I see her I can let you know you were looking for her, at least!

[daikonrose]

Oh--not really! [ There's a sheepish grin. ] I didn't come here with any particular business except to visit Vianca-chan, so I'll just come back again later. You don't have to report anything.

[zapdope]

Oh, okay!

[ He'll still be sure to let Vianca know whenever he sees her, just in case. For now, he gives a smile back. ]

I'll probably also be around here whenever I wanna get away from the robot people, so you'll know where to find me, too!
