With the coming of Lasra, there was at least one new shop opening its doors in the quiet bustle of the Shopping District! There had been a distinct lack of places to simply sit in that district, but look no further if you were searching for such a spot. There are warm lights on inside, with the sights of large, comfy chairs and couches beckoning from the welcoming windows.

At times, from the same windows, you can catch sight of a pink little girl sitting near the glass, thumbing through an honest-to-goodness paper book.

Walking through the door would earn you a soft greeting. Welcome to Petals & Pages~

[One of the first things Takashi did once he realized this wasn't a dream was scout out the tablet. And it was there that he saw the opening for the little "shop".

He had to investigate. Which is why when things are slow he makes his way inside. He doesn't stop to talk- instead walking around the building like he's doing an inspection. The suit doesn't help that feeling either]

Hmm... good use of space. Lighting's great. Lots of seating... Yeah, I can use this.

[Good to know it was already on Havenwell's google maps. Such quick upkeep!

Vianca blinked up from her book as another unfamiliar face came strolling in with grand purpose. He seemed to know exactly what he was about, so she just watched him do his thing for a bit before she moved to actually greet him at all.

... Those notes were a little. Hmm. Vianca gently shut her book, hopping off her counter stool to wander over to him.]

Hello. [Said the very small person in a very small voice.] Can I help you with anything?

[Technology is amazing. He smiled when she approched]

Are you the owner?

[pinkmin]

[She did not smile back. (Though to be fair: she'd never smiled at anyone.) There was a nod though!]

That is correct.

[The 9-year-old.]

[He hadn't expected someone so young looking to own a business... but he decided to play it like he would any other business transaction.

So he reached into his pocket, pulling out a metal card holder and retrieving a business card. He held it out on his open palm for her to take. It had his name, Takashi Koizumi, and his business credentials- including mention of his MBA and years of work experience.

And also listed 'Overlord' as a title. Odd.]

I would like to discuss a possible business opportunity with you.

[Ohh, a business card! Those were in awfully short supply in this mostly electronic landscape. She gently picked it up, giving it a careful look.

O... 'Overlord.' Hm.]

A business opportunity?

[She tilt her head a bit.]

... Oh, did you want to sit together? We can do that.

[overlordad]

Oh... sure.

[He looked around for somewhere more... professional. But only saw soft chairs and couches. Well, nothing to do but accept it. So he settled into a chair and sank down into the plush cushion]

...holy shit these are nice chairs.

[He broke the 'serious business' character a bit in his surprise]

[This was the business opportunity you meant, right Takashi? Cuddles? Because that's what half this business was. Vianca nodded approvingly at her chair's ability to break the mood before she hopped up right next to him.

For the cuddle. Here we go.]

Thank you. I made sure they were very nice for sitting for a long time.

[Almost without thinking Takashi patted her head like he would his own daughters. Dad instinct too powerful]

I can tell. That kind of foresight is exactly why I wanted to contact you. I just arrived in this place but I was surprised no one was taking the opportunity to 'sell' what the gods here are after.

I don't know much about 'gods', but I know a business that could use an investor when I see it.

[You know, if you consider buying businesses out and ruining them 'investing'- but since he became Overlord he was a bit less Lawful Evil and focused more on actually growing businesses... to his own benefit in the long run, of course.]

[The headpat was too unexpected for Vianca to do anything besides tense up at his side, heart leaping in her chest. No, no, it was fine probably, it was fine--]

An... investor...

[Uh-huh, good, business talk. Yeah!]

What would you be investing?

[overlordad]

[He could feel the tension and realized what he was doing- taking his hand back with a cough]

This can't be all you want in here. More books? More seating? Maybe some live music? One person can only do so much, what, cuddling and whatever it is the gods here want? Two or more people funneling some of what they earn into the business could improve growth faster.

[Phew-- Vianca sat up a little, though she was careful to keep her side against his. Gotta gather those investments.]

I just opened, so I am not looking to grow too much. More books is definitely a plan, but the design is for the space to be mutually beneficial rather than profitable.

[overlordad]

[It's like she just started speaking another language. He blinked slowly, processing that. Not... for profit. Huh.]

Hmm. I see.

[he pondered]

I still would like to help- I need to build my resume here, and it could help us both in the long run. But if you want to keep small I can respect that.

[Or well, accept it. not get it, but accept it.]

[ Doesn't he look rather observant of this place. For what, she cannot say, but it seems that part of his intention is given away with him speaking to himself. Use it... for what? For relaxing, obviously! Although she can't imagine any relaxing to be done in a prim and proper suit like that.

She easily approaches him with a smile, not shy at having to greet someone she's never met before. ]

Don't you look professional!

[he arches his brow at her, amused]

It's a look I try to keep up.

And you wear it quite well.

[ A polite tip of her head. ]

Are you here on business?

[overlordad]

I was.

[His conversation with Vianca hadn't gone how he would have wanted]

Now I'm just browsing.

[iustaegis]

[ She watches him further for a moment, then turns her gaze to look along the same shelf he does. ]

Actual books are a rarity in this world. It's remarkable that she's acquired any at all.

[ She says this softly, as if in awe herself. ]

Between everyone being robots and no plants I guess they don't need them. But people like paper. Like touching it and smelling it. She's really cornered a market here even with just a few of them.

[He's totally not butthurt for being turned down]

Think she got them from the gods or something? I heard they give out gifts sometimes...

[ A brow raises, faintly, at his doubt. There is only one way to find out for himself, whether the gods give these gifts: to experience it for himself in the coming month should he be rewarded for offering contact.

And then she extends her hand towards him. ]

Would you like to find out yourself?

[overlordad]

[he blinks at the offered hand then shrugs, taking it]

So what happens now?

[iustaegis]

[ A breath follows; it may have been a bit of a laugh. ]

We continue to hold hands or remain in contact!

[ He seems so lost. ] By doing this, we both help each other with acquiring material items and wealth, and that it helps this world. [ She blinks at him. ] Who knows, you might receive a bespoke suit by next month.

[overlordad]

I COULD use some new clothes- this suit is expensive.

[iustaegis]

[ Cheerfully: ] ...Is that the same one from your own world?

[ Has it been dry cleaned. ]

[overlordad]

Yeah, but I've washed it. Still, it's not meant to be worn every day.

[he squeezes her hand, a busy guesture]
