[Open] Petals & Pages - Mingle #1
♥ Who: You~ (and Vianca)
♥ Where: Shopping District - a new shop!
♥ When: January/February (Lasra/Nalom)
♥ What: Open Mingle Log
♥ Rating: Probably Pretty G
With the coming of Lasra, there was at least one new shop opening its doors in the quiet bustle of the Shopping District! There had been a distinct lack of places to simply sit in that district, but look no further if you were searching for such a spot. There are warm lights on inside, with the sights of large, comfy chairs and couches beckoning from the welcoming windows.
At times, from the same windows, you can catch sight of a pink little girl sitting near the glass, thumbing through an honest-to-goodness paper book.
Walking through the door would earn you a soft greeting. Welcome to Petals & Pages~
It's an Open Mingle Log!!
+ Shop Info is here, plus book requests.
+ Vianca will have her own top-level, and can reply to yours, but this log isn't just for interacting with her!
+ Feel free to use this post for your own plans how you please! The only House Rule is that you gotta sit with someone and get some sweet Dora, it doesn't have to be Vianca~ This includes multiple top-levels if you desire, since the log is for two months.
+ Have! Fun!!

That is, before Guzma peels him away.]
Hellooo?! What are you do--...oh. [He blinks at the familiar child on the other side of the glass, then looks around the store a bit before tugging Golisopod toward the entrance. He's the first to poke his head in, though his nosy bug is quick to try and shove its way in as well, long neck extended over Guzma's head as his antenna smack against the bell that usually signals people entering.] Hey! Stop--wait. C'mon, man!

Vianca was quietly charmed by these snooters, but also-- Hello Guzma. She blinked back, and offered him a wave as well. She watched them head towards the door, turning her head to watch the entrance and the... well. The Entrance.
She made her way over, looking up at this spectacle.]
Thank you for being so excited.

Tch...yeah, sorry, dunno what got into him suddenly. Anyway, this is my partner, Golisopod. Bud, this is Vianca - be nice to her, yeah?
[Golisopod has to bend low to even get close to eye-level with Vianca, but he rumbles gently and offers one of his large, clawed hands to her. This is how humans do it, right? His Trainer showed him how, though he's far more curious in this little one's scent, and the dirt in the pots.]

She didn't hesitate to take Golisopod's claws though, gently resting her tiny hands right there in encouragement.]
It is nice to meet you, Golisopod. Please feel free to look around. We can move some chairs to make more space if you need it.

He's pleased by how fearless she acts around his fearsome-looking partner, and how she seems nonplussed to shake that imposing claw - that of a hulking insect no less. It's a far better reaction most little girls have to the big bug, really, and Guzma seems to visibly relax a bit. Especially when she talks about accommodating her store to fit his Pokemon. The smile that tugs at his lips is warm, thankful, and a rarity to most. Be kind to his Pokemon, and you'll see the best side of Guzma.]
Nah, don't go out of your way, V, I can put 'im back in his ball if there's not enough room....or if'n it gets too crowded. I think he was just interested in those.
[Guzma points, as Golisopod greets Vianca with a nod of his head, then takes her invitation to explore, automatically lumbering toward the flowering pots to peek inside, and sniff about the soil curiously, antennae wriggling to scent the air.]
Someone we knew used to keep pots like this.

The classmate thing also meant that even though Guzma assured her that she didn't need to worry about accommodations, Vianca was still tucking the idea in the back of her mind to look into later. She did not like the idea that anyone had to be in a Pokeball just because they were a little bit bigger. (No one bring their Wailords, please--!)
She followed Guzma's pointing with a soft "ohh."]
Did they make them a fan of gardening then?
[She was just going to wander that way to peek at him peeking at pots. Could you smell the seeds sleeping in there, big guy?]

And while Golisopod's not the largest Pokemon out there, he's quite wide and has a lot of bulky, pointy bits on him that, erm...get stuck on things, or make it painful when people bump him accidentally. He's well aware, and usually will move aside or stay back (or behind when his Trainer enters a space he can't fit), but his curiosity was piqued. As he leans over the pots, long legs gently tapping the soil, he opens his mouth and a gentle spray of water burbles out onto the soil. It was a bit dry... not terribly so, but maybe just needed another application.
He looks over at Vianca, leans down to nudge his head onto hers, then scoots over to the next pot to repeat the process.]
Heh...not really, but he'd help like what he's doing now, sometimes. Always been eager to please, the big lug. [Lillie would care for plants, and Guzma's mom, too...she had an enormous garden in the back when he was growing up. She loved flowers, and growing plants and herbs. Why else would she name her child after a flower? Guzma is, after all, just an adaptation to the name of an Alolan flowering plant: guzmania bromeliad.] Y'all must remind 'im of his other friend, kiddo.
SHRIEKS AT THESE TIMESTAMPS
If only Bret still played Erika, she'd be staring intensely at all you flower boys.Vianca had no such intimate knowledge with the names and knowledge of every world's plants. A lot of the berries, yes-- they'd often keep a stock of those both in the nurse's office and at FDC's Pokemon Center to work in a pinch (and a treat!).]Oh.
[She watched the big pokemon shuffle around, making more silent notes about where things could get scooted a little. It was a little intimidating to get compared to another friend, sometimes. Vianca knew she was likely not like this person at all.]
I appreciate the help. I've never tried to grow things on my own before.
shhhh it's fine......
Speaking of which, after he's watered the plants proper, he'll shuffle back toward his trainer and seek a place to sit to do just that - meditate. Somewhere off in a corner, perhaps, where he won't take up much space, or be in anyone's way. Guzma, meanwhile, can't help but chuckle at the spectacle. It's really, really not hard to win his partner over. Treats, a gentle pat, playing with him...he's pretty easy to make friends with, again...very unlike his trainer. Vianca does indeed remind him of Lillie, and maybe even Guzma too...a little, but they're certainly not the same.
Vianca is her own person, after all. Same with Lillie. There are similarities, sure, but each one are special in their own right. Special enough to win even Guzma over pretty quickly, in fact.]
Well, don't look at me. [He holds up his hands, shaking his head.] Ain't got no green nothing on me, despite, uh...stuff. [He clears his throat, loudly, changing the subject quickly. No need to travel down that road, thank you sir.]
I usually, uh...break things, not make 'em grow.
no subject
Stuff. [It wasn't a question, just a quiet acknowledgement that there was... Stuff. Lots of people had Stuff. Stuff was fine.]
You do seem like you can be rowdy when you want to be.
[Were you a rowdy guy, Guzma.]
no subject
Heh. [The smile that spreads on his face when he's called out is telling. Guzma doesn't even make the attempt to deny it, and he shrugs his shoulders with the lazy air of a man who has fully embraced his gremlin tendencies.]
Mmmmaybe...sometimes. What sort'a life's worth living without some controlled chaos, am I right?
no subject
[It wasn't quite agreement, because this was Vianca after all. She very much appreciated her calm and quiet. She did, however, attend an establishment that could have very much been labelled controlled chaos. She was perhaps a bit more used to such a concept than she would normally concede to.
...It was also a fact that a majority of the friends she was making in the sleepy city of Havenwell were all rowdy boys, and maybe they were very slightly rubbing off on her sensibilities.]
I suppose that does lead to more interesting stories.
no subject
He rubs his neck, looking almost sheepish…maybe even a bit proud, too. I mean, he did come out the victor in a lot of fistfights, after all. That’s something to be proud of.]
Yeah, maybe if you like horror stories...

Horror is an important literary genre.
