I don't know if it's meant to be a punishment, or if they'd admit to that even if it is . . . but even if it's not deliberate, it's caused by imbalances in the gods' power! So in other words, if we don't do what we're supposed to do and do it right, we end up in situations where we might have nightmares that can only be cured by sleeping in someone's bed, or be kept awake by squeaking animals that only go away if you cuddle. Or you get sick, but guess what cures it? Go on, guess!
